Sometimes you see some singers and think : how incredible would be if they record this or that song. How great if they cover this or that song... but with Aimee Mann is totally different. The songs she compose are unique and all of them are her face. She doesn’t need to record anyone else’s music. I think she was born to sing only her songs which are totally incredible and gorgeous!
This is just mag-fucking-nificent. I've seen her live in London several times and she is simply brilliant as both an artist and an entertainer. The best female singer-songwriter I know. This is a great DVD too, the band is so tight and they are all superb musicians, great solo from Julian.
Now 2024 and Aimee is coming to Portland, OR! I've seen her live several times and it never gets old. Somehow nails her live performances to sound even better than her studio recordings.
This is a great performance, no question. I've seen Aimee in London several times and every time she and her fabulous band just blew me away. She played the Astoria before it was demolished, the band had Michael Lockwood on guitar and he tore the roof off with his solo on Deathly. Then I saw her at Hammersmith with Julian Coryell on guitar and he ripped off an incredible, incendiary solo that just went on and on. Aimee just stood and watched with a great big grin. She is an artist of the very highest calibre and her songs will always hold a special place in my heart.
the most talented singer songwriter of today in my opinion, and a really good lyricist with that melancholy laser beam shooting through the streamlined gelatine of her singing
+Floto Music Uhm: just wow. You totally nailed it. I am idiot for even pointing out the obvious. But I am doing it thru love of Aimee's talent, so maybe a get a break?!?
Bachelor #2. My favorite album to listen to over past several years. Beautiful and heartbreaking stuff. I love her, Saw her @ Carnegie Hall few months back.. Blows my mid how beautiful.
Most of “them “need the spotlight to shine, Aimee Mann is the only one who managed to stay away from the fake blinding lights of desperate fame , so seeked by the wannabes , and still remain bright. The most beautiful voice ever!
Now that I've met you Would you object to Never seeing each other again? 'Cause I can't afford to Climb aboard you No one's got that much ego to spend [Chorus] So don't work your stuff Because I've got troubles enough No, don't pick on me When one act of kindness could be Deathly Deathly Deathly [Verse 2] 'Cause I'm just a problem For you to solve and Watch dissolve in the heat of your charm But what will you do when You run it through and You can't get me back on the farm? [Chorus] So don't work your stuff Because I've got troubles enough No, don't pick on me When one act of kindness could be Deathly Deathly Deathly Definitely
This is from her Live at St. Ann's Warehouse DVD - worth picking up if it's still available. The version she did on Austin City Limits is even better than this, with an amazing break and buildup to the finish.
I recently won tickets to her show in Westhampton Beach, NY. I felt icky not paying. Hahaha!! She deserves my money!! Aimee is the only female vocalist I actively listen to. (I appreciate many women artists, but there is just something so special about Aimee Mann.)
IF I ever had a chance 2 play in a simple room jam session , This Would B my choice, 4 sure, She Is the real deal, & her band-mates r Fantastic, OH'' well dream On 4 sure, love these guys, 4 sure.. kodibass
Sometimes I would be playing this song through my earbuds while jogging at night and it always struck me that this song would be a great finale because of that soaring guitar solo. I guess I was right. The show-ender.
This song really gets to me. The 2 legato style guitar solos are beautiful especially the 2nd one at the end. His crying guitar notes just mourn with heartache and longing. I love the arrangement too, the way the tempo slows a little on the chorus with Aimee closing her eyes and singing softly as if to herself. A really nice touch. Great keys, bass and excellent drum work too. cyrano66 A.K.A. GoldenNoseSlim on Twitter @noseslim
+Marcus Vinnas Hey, thanks man. Even his gentle soft fills during the verses & choruses are really tastey. I do not know who the guitarist is or the other band members. Great band though, all of them.
+cyrano66 I worked many years as a sideman, so I learned how to appreciate these great musicians that can 'glow in the shadows', many times they have to play very little of their capabilities just for the song's sake. It's an art form IMHO.
Brilliant group...tight, no nonsense & not overdone!

Outstanding. Hugely underrated artist and yet folks in the know love her. Wow. One of my faves in any genre and age.
yep, i love her funk and disco period...
This is simply lovely...no tricks, no smoke, no hidden wires; straight, no chaser
Idk why this performance hits me so hard! Such raw talent.
Named my first daughter after her...stunning song and THAT guitar solo..wow
Yes! That is one the most Achingly expressive guitar solos I've ever heard... beautiful.
Was looking for this comment! Just an incredible tone and gives me shivers. What an amazing song

Brilliant performance by an artist who should be much more heralded than she is.
One of her best songs, if not THE best. And this live version is really great...it' s perfect to finish a concert.
I'm grateful my friend shared your music!❤❤❤❤❤❤
The lead guitarist is Awesome !!!!!
Thank you Aimee. Thank you for playing beautiful Gibson acoustic guitars.

A musical gem performed by a very great pretty artist!
I love Aimee Mann!!!!
Aimee Mann is so Super. It boggles my imagination that I have trouble getting people, even musicians to listen to her.Fools.
Great Singer and Unique Lyric Writer . ( Et Chapeau au Guitariste !)
Now that I've met you
Would you object to
Never seeing each other again?
'Cause I can't afford to
Climb aboard you
No one's got that much ego to spend
[Chorus]
So don't work your stuff
Because I've got troubles enough
No, don't pick on me
When one act of kindness could be
Deathly
Deathly
Deathly
[Verse 2]
'Cause I'm just a problem
For you to solve and
Watch dissolve in the heat of your charm
But what will you do when
You run it through and
You can't get me back on the farm?
[Chorus]
So don't work your stuff
Because I've got troubles enough
No, don't pick on me
When one act of kindness could be
Deathly
Deathly
Deathly
Definitely
The guitarist really rips it up at the end, especially at the very end!
Diamant. J'aurais aimé être à ce concert.

agree 100%. who is the guitar player?

......Michael Lockwood, who just separated from Lisa Marie Presley earlier this summer......
......actually, I stand corrected - it's Jon Brion, who was also responsible for the SICK axe tone on "I Should've Known"'s solos.....
AW! Look at her smile at 2:26-2:27...so cute!!
excellent vid!!!!
Real life knows our story
I have never seen anyone play an E chord like she does at 1:37. But it sounds great.
3:18 backing vocals, yea
wonderful
The guitar is very good.
Crazy good...
So nice
un vero talento!!!
Jimmy kurring and Claudia wilson's song...I didn't
realize...
Interesting this has 164k views and Waddup has 66 million.
She recorded it on her Bachelor No.2 recording, I think it also appears on Magnolia?
yes to Magnolia, that's where I first heard this tune and how I was introduced to Aimee Mann
💗🙂💐
Where is this recorded? I want to live there!
Anyone know where this is from?
So polite. Just like a Canadian.
Huge crowd pleaser in concert
