Teresa the Traveler visits Nisga'a Memorial Lava Bed Provincial Park near Terrace British Columbia, Canada. For more information visit www.teresathetraveler.com/terr...
Thank you for the video clip. Just wanted to leave you with a few notes on our Nisga'a Land. Please don't call us Indians, we prefer natives :) The berries that you guys watered are Lava Berries, and we harvest them. And maybe you should change the title of this video to Nisga'a Land. To bad you guys couldn't get the full tour from Steve Johnson, you guys could have checked the Volcano out :)
Ok so I don't want to be rude but the name of this video and the fact that you called us "indians" really offends me. The lava beds are on Nisga'a land which is completely different than terrace. But I am glad you had a good time, next time you should sign up for a tour, I think you would really enjoy it, maybe check out one of the bed & breakfasts as well ;) :)
love the video been 35 yrs since i been up there to lava beds and Gitwinksihlkw, need to get back up for a visit. loved going over the suspension bridge and seeing the villiage lots of good times as a teen when i visted
ok,1 for starters, its not terrace lava beds, and the curse thing is a farce.,had you driven 5 minutes down the road from your last stop, you woould have discovered the hotsprings, its an amazing place.i go there every summer.
Uhm, we're first nations, or indigenous people, not Indians... also, we don't put a curse on people for taking lava rocks.. our ancestors are in those lava rocks, its not a "curse". People have however reported having extremely "bad luck" and "misfortune" after taking a piece of lava from its resting place... also, it isn't the terrace lavabeds, its the Nisga'a lavabeds.
sam baca yeah it’s too bad about that whole residential school business or I’d say it was nice to have your family once apart of our valley. Buuuuut I guess that wasn’t you in particular and I will not hold it against you. It has improved a lot since we won our land back from the Canadian government so come on back and take a look around. The hot springs are pretty awesome now and everything’s paved right down to the Pacific Ocean. The Old village is even maintained a bit in minor ways like keeping the bushes from eating the whole site
If you live near there (which I don’t think you do) I highly recommend getting yourself some locals to show you the real Nass Valley. There’s tons of incredible sights up there and we love having visitors. World class salmon fishing, beautiful waters coloured by the copper found there with its greenish blue tinge, the hot springs and a couple hours more down the road there’s a couple more villages and the Pacific Ocean. Maybe even ask about a visit a smokehouse and see our traditional ways of preparing/preserving foods like salmon, blue/huckle/lava/black and red current berries, sea lion, moose, oolichan(candlefish) and much more! Not to mention the art and totem poles that have been newly erected are quite beautiful. Just one quick quip here but you do realize this isn’t India right? It’s actually about 11 500kms west and it’s got a couple hundred Indians from what I hear! Lmao. Jk. Come back and check it out tho seriously because you barely scratched the surface😁
the nisga'a isnt even in terrace, its in rosswood. and this, although i am not first nation, is very offensive by the names you call them by "indians" honestly, fuck that. indians and first nations have such a big difference, almost no similarity.
After 7 years you still haven't edited the title? I know you are trying to be informative, but you should get your information correct first. BTW are you Canadian or American? Indians? Really? Sorry, but it calls into question the rest of your videos.
Respect everything wherever you are or travel to.

sorry I offended you, it was not intentional
Ugh, it's pronounced Git-win-silk. The "ks" is like a soft x, similar to xylophone.
