  • Come along as I attempt to thru-hike Canada's longest hut-to-hut hiking trail, the Sunshine Coast Trail in British Columbia, Canada.
The Sunshine Coast Trail is a 180-kilometre back country hiking experience that stretches from Sarah Point in Desolation Sound to Saltery Bay. The route traverses a wide variety of landscapes, from coastal shorelines, along creeks and lakes, through old growth forests to panoramic mountaintops.

Making me so nostalgic I wanna move back across the country to BC! When I did the SCT I stretched it out to a 300 km tour of the area and spent 31 days hiking and camping with my dog Zora. We left Saltery Bay hiking northbound up Troubridge with about 2 weeks of food in our bags! 🤣 I don't regret anything! We made friends with some swedes hiking the trail, participated in an S&R operation when one of them got separated, saw the most beautiful places on earth, got up close and personal with bears, listened to the elk and the bull frogs every night we camped on a lake, post holed through May snow, enjoying the low bug levels, and generally had the time of our lives. I want to do it again but next time I'll make the route even longer and run it, with as little on my back and as many resupplies as possible. The town of Cranberry and adjacent Townsite were one of the best parts of my trip; with supplies, epic food at the Royal Zayaka and Shingle Mill pub and craft beer at Townsite Brewing, and the beach right there where you can stealth camp and look across at the islands! The only thing wrong with the SCT is it's not long enough! The Suncoaster MTB Trail on the south Sunshine Coast can be used to extend it, and there are so many awesome trails down there, a hiker with good route finding could actually start right at Gibsons or Horseshoe Bay. That idea was what lead me to plan a bikepacking tour there in 2019.

I was hoping you’d turn that hike into a video or 2. I love the bridges and mossy stairs. I kept thinking “imagine when those were brand new and how now they’re just all weathered and awesome!”

It was gorgeous! This was the end of May, but I’d wait a couple weeks longer til mid June. We ran into a lot of snow at higher elevations

Thanks! This trail does not require a permit, which makes it a great option over the West Coast Trail

Thank you! This is the Osprey Exos 58. It's a men's pack, but I liked the way it fit.

I love how you said “I can’t complain” at the end, after actually complaining through the entire video.
This is one of my favourite places I’ve hiked in my life, I felt super lucky to be out there.
