New Bali Propane Gas Fire Pit Table: First Look and Light

- With the Fall weather on us, I wanted a way to invite friends and family over for outdoor visiting while staying warm. While we have a ceramic fire pit, the fire is only visible on one side and can be smoky, so a gas fire table seemed to be a great idea. The cost was $189 from Amazon. It arrived in good shape within 5 days.
Price update as of December 2020 is $229.99

The assembly was a bit interesting. The instructions are ok but not great. It is most easily assembled on a carpeted floor with good lighting. It would be helpful to have 2 sets of hands but not essential. It took me about 2 hours to assemble while watching a football game. Attaching the propane starter assembly was a bit confusing. There are 2 wires to connect, one was obvious the second wire was a mystery for a good 10 minutes. There was a rubber protective cover hiding the location of the second connection point.
The biggest 2 tips:
1) make sure the screws are perpendicular (straight) to the surface and easily start to thread. Crooked screws will cross thread.
2) Leave the screws a little loose until the entire unit is put together. Doing so will give you the flexibility to get all the parts to fit in place. Once the unit is assembled, tighten the rest of the screws.
Safety tip: Use soapy water to test your gas fittings for leaks before use. This is propane and it is extremely combustible, use all the safety precautions you would use with your own gas grill.

Nice and cozy!
Yes! Thank you!
Very nice...I love the light blue color glass.
Thanks for watching!
Thank you! My ignition switch did not work from the get-go, but I had my lighter ready, thanks to you and reviews I read on Amazon. Exactly right about not tightening everything down to begin with!
You are welcomeJ anice. Glad the video helped!
@@mi-tinker if you lift that metal part with the holes you will see the igniter. May need to use plyers and gently bend the igniter towards where the gas comes out to ignite
@@Mz-ns5ke sounds like a good tip. I’ll give it a try. Thanks
Very beautiful. Great job
Thanks!
Good job for your first time. I received one today and I will attempt to put it together. You are inspiring. Thank you.
Thanks much! Hope you enjoy yours!
I just bought one of these a d was having trouble at first, but. I figured it out! You have to push the button ‘In’ as you are lighting it to work. Easy fix.
Hi Thanks for watching! I'm glad it is working for you. Thanks for the comment as well. You are correct, that pushing the button in is a part of the standard starting procedure and it works for me about 25% of the time. This type of igniter can be finicky. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. Enjoy your new fire table!!
Nice review my wife is currently looking at a few of these but I like this design better than the other
Thanks! I liked this design as well.
I saw this at princess auto today, I'm going to head back tomorrow and buy it, thanks, cheers!
Hope you enjoy it!
Thank you for the great details.
You are welcome! Hope you will subscribe!
Wonderful review. Thank you!
Thanks!!
I just purchased a very similar Bali Firepit and you just made my day. We couldn't get it to ignite, but watching you showed me what I was doing incorrectly. THANK YOU! I love my fire pit
Angela, I'm glad you found it helpful! We love ours as well!!
Had same problem assembling - my igniter was DOA out of the box.
Had to call support Thank You and after doing the usual steps with support on the
line it still failed to fire. New gas valve assembled on board Fed Ex as
or this morning.
Thanks for sharing!
If you have too many glass beads around igniter box, it can restrict the air flow and cause the igniter not to work sometimes.
Hi Keith, Thanks for your suggestion. I've tried a number of ways to help with ignition, including fewer beads around the box. The lighter is still my choice for getting it started.
Hi Saw the video, product looks great, so I bought a similar one, the igniter knob issue, I found if you push it in and turn it to the point just before it snaps and hold for a few seconds for the gas to get going through, when you snap it, it works just fine
Thanks for watching and sharing!
Id suggest keeping the rocks away from the igniter that will prevent it from sparking the gas
Thanks!
I got the same one on sale 50% off, the ignitor did not work the first few times I tied it, I did has you did, but then out of the blue it started working and has worked fine since. So, if you do buy one don't give up on the ignitor if when you first try it doesn't work.
Awesome! Thanks for sharing!
Just bought one from ALDI today!
Hope you enjoy it!
How much was it atAldi
Good review. Looked at this same product and liked all the features. The review confirmed that despite the tinkering challenges and pesky igniters (never had much luck with them either) we will be purchasing one and the same. As of this date, “currently unavailable” on Amazon but will seek out elsewhere. Thanks for posting
Hi 1220freddie, Glad it was helpful! Sorry to hear it is not available right now... We've really enjoyed ours. Best of luck with the purchase!
Thanks for the video, glad I saw this , does it out out decent heat, currently live in Monterey Ca, weather is never freezing , nor overtly hot, thanks again
Sounds perfect for your weather. Glad you enjoyed!
We bought a mainstay brand haven’t had the first issue with ignition lights every time.
Awesome!
I found if you remove glass/rocks from the spark to burner it lights every time wish there was more protection there.
Thanks Bob!
Is this safe to use on a wooden deck like you have it here?
Thanks for watching! Yes, as safe as using a gas grill on your wood deck!
Yes, this is Correct. Safe as a gas grill on you deck.
I just got one very simular on amazon
Enjoy!
Thanks for the excellent review Lynn. Aldi has one for $130 so I might buy it. After 7 months do u still like it?
Yes I do!
Great overview, thank you. Two questions, where did you get the glass beads and 2) do you notice flames in the ignition box and is it an issue? Got ours put together today and had similar troubles to you with assembly and ignition. Thanks
The glass beads came with my unit. They are also available on Amazon. I have not had flames in the Ignition box but certainly around it. Some users suggest not putting glass beads near the box while lighting. Hope this helps.
Does this need to be plugged into an electric outlet or just attach propane gas and turn on switch?
Thanks for the question. No electrical outlet needed. It has a manual ignition, much the same as a gas grill.
Thanks for charging I like it but from where I can buy it ?
Thanks for watching. Got my Fire pit table through Amazon. link in description.
Question- do you plan to use a "heat shield" to protect your wooden deck?
Hi Jeff, no heat shield needed for the wood deck. The heat stays at the top of the table in the burner pan... Much like a gas grill. The bottom of the unit seems well separated from any heat.
How much glass did you put in your fire pit
The manufacturer supplied the glass, I'm guessing it would have filled a gallon zip lock bag. Hope that helps!
Do they make a natural gas conversion kit for it?
Good question. I don't know the answer to it. Let us know if you find out! Thanks for watching!
How many hours are you getting per tank. I have heard various numbers
Hi George, I have not tracked the hours. A huge factor in run time will depend on how high you set the flame. I'm guessing on my unit that a full tank lasted between 8-12 hours a medium setting.
@@mi-tinker thanks. Sounds about right. I used mine on high and guess I may have gotten around 6
4hrs on high, 6hrs on medium and 8hrs and low… That’s base on a 20 pound tank at 50,000 BTU… The actual math comes out to 8hrs and 16 minutes of burning at the lowest setting… It’s impossible to get more than that…
Just the same one. The unit won't stay lit even after troubleshooting.
I found we sometimes have to turn the knob on only halfway to the ignite stage (only letting a very small amount of gas through) and use a long neck lighter anywhere on the inside of the ring where the gas holes are to light it then slowly turn the knob to higher settings otherwise the unit puts itself out. Just had to do this tonight. Took 10 times to get it to stay lit. Hope this helps.
@@mi-tinker I think in my case it's a defective or poorly aligned thermocouple. My ignighter is working just fine. The problem is it won't lit without holding in the knob.
I figured it out. Assembly error connecting the solenoid wires. Duh!
Ordered one a couple days ago from Amazon for 210 sounds like inflation lol
Thanks for watching! I’m sure the price is higher. They are in demand with the pandemic! They are definitely great to have for backyard visiting!!
I just bought one assembled it, and it won’t light. I’m not sure what to do. I’ll try what you did in the morning and see what happens.
I took all of the rocks out and it still won’t light. I’m now disconnecting the lines to make sure I connected them properly
Hi Kim, did you get it to light? One thing I just learned myself, is that you need to turn the propane on slowly. The regulator may shut off any propane if it senses an overload of gas -Lynne/Mi-Tinker
@@kimjones4525 We got ours yesterday and could NOT get it to light up and everything seemed just fine. I even emailed the company, but they hadn't had the chance to call yet. I watched this video and how she got the pit to light up, and I followed her technique exactly and it worked PERFECTLY, no external lighter needed. If it's too windy out it may be more difficult.
I ended up taking it back to the store and exchanging it for another one and that one worked fine once I assembled it.
How many lbs of the glass beads did you need?
It came with a large box of beads. I'm guessing it was 7-10 lbs
@@mi-tinker Thank you!
You still reccomend?
We have enjoyed ours. Yes!
@@mi-tinker thank you for your feedback. Just placed an order for one.
What part number i see its over $230

Thanks for watching! The model I have is running about $220 now but not great availability online. They are great to have. Hope you enjoy yours!!!
