Yeah the chicharron we have here tastes more like crackers and we dip it in vinegar. We also have our own version of Piñatas, it isn't the ones that are big and colorful with beautiful shapes but is a clay pot filled it with candies inside. Same way how the game goes, hit it with a bat until it cracks open although it is just risky.

Although, I'll say that it has been on a steady decline since younger people want more westernized street food, and vendors have increased prices to break even. It's 20 pesos now when back then, we could avail it for around 8 pesos. As for why, we just find it funny primarily honestly. They open up this egg and there's a dead duck staring you down. Foreigners who can forego that part easily really end up loving the taste of balut. For those wo can't...well, we find it funny how they "overreact" when encouraged to eat it.

"Sinan-Gag" is pronounced as "Sinangag". The "ng" is pronounced the same way you pronounce it in "rotating" or "banger". No separation whatsoever. Kinilaw and Humba are also pronounced the way they are spelled, "kee-nee-lao" and "hoomba".
Its kinda true tho. There's barely anything to do there, other than visiting beaches. My only reason to go home right now prolly will be to visit my family, and beaches as well 😅

Not even us Native Filipinos eat Balut like some kind of main dish or snack, it's mostly eaten during the late night hours when a "Magbabalut" (Balut vendor riding a bike cart) shouts "Balut!" and then sells it to you. As of now, I think that culture's dying (I think) since I barely see any Balut vendors or they mostly just hang out in one streetside spot now so it's hard to find a Balut vendor. But if ever you want to eat a Balut, make sure to buy a Balut that's not mature or developed since the egg whites would definitely be harder to bite making it inedible.
Balut vendors usually sells at night(at least in where I'm at), and yeah my family used to eat a lot of balut back then but right now none of us eat it anymore for some reason lmao

I recommend finding a geniune Sinigang dish and the budget Sinigang that uses Knorr brand broth sachets to try. Adobo is great depending on what city you eat it at, and if its saucy(good with rice) or fried into the meat like coating. I have no idea what Humba is or what it taste like... Jeez, Its like I'm not from the country(This is my first time discovering Humba). Lechon is very good for party occasions(usually Juicy and Crunchy). Most definitely DON'T DRINK TAP WATER! There's probably chlorine in the solution of the water. I got diagnosed with Amoebiasis a few years ago and it messed up my digestive system. I thought it was fine because we drink iced water, frozen in plastics designed for local ice products. These are found in 'Sari-Sari stores' (Family business shops). Its Sin-na-ngag. Not sure how to explain to foreigners how to pronouce the last syllable. Ok... that Balut looks overdeveloped. The usual Balut looks less of the duck and it tastes good if you sprinkle some salt on the opened hole of the eggshell. Buko is good if you find cold drinks of them. I know this list is chalked when I saw balut. I'm Filipino and I can't remember the last time I ate Balut. And I was also pressured into it. It wasn't great, definitely tasted mid.
