Next level stuff right here 🤯
Make one. :)
Yeah why not take some ideas from this. Maybe even collab with him!
Exactly
old level, bruh.
Some niuce guys did this back in 2013 with gopro 3 (c-mount mode) and gopro 4 (back-bone mod)
And you still accept THIS little mod like a NEXT LEVEL??
You joking!
@gopro you should consider making a modular lens mount system for the next gen gopro. Like something you can twist off the original gopro wide angle and twist on lens adapters
This is definitely one of the cameras of all time.
Yes…for sure an camera…
No it’s not. There should be a bigger, better, more beautiful word to describe what this is…
…like Cameramagicmachine, or Cameramoviemakermonstrosity…. I dunno, but not camera!
Sure, useless can't-point-and-shoot for 2500k.
“Irrational thoughts should be followed absolutely and logically.” Is now a quote that will forever live in my mind. Thank you Van.
We need that on a t shirt
That long lens seems outrageously impractical for it's intended purpose, but damn it does produce a beautiful image!
thus art, no purpose beyond itself
Every prime lens is better than stock wide-angle.
that last shot sequence with the typewriter was just beautiful.
The words of Burt Rutan came into my mind while I was enjoying this. Burt Rutan, also a spirited man, said, "To have breakthroughs, you must have confidence in nonsense. That is why only weird guys tend to have the breakthroughs: a sensible person won't have a breakthrough "cause he writes it off real quickly as nonsense and, therefore, he doesn't ever do something that is nonsense".
Career pilot here, and Rutan is one of my all time aviation hero’s. Thanks for your comment.
I think the takeaway is: if you can afford to go down expensive rabbit holes, one should certainly entertain the wild hare.
"This spirited man wants a camera he can like again, maybe even love..." Somebody introduce Van to the Fuji mirrorless line of cameras. That's a love affair waiting to happen.
same thought
The raw/analog feeling of Van's videos is for sure a staple, even with a modern camera, it feels analog, love it
Man, I always leave your videos thinking. Most of the internet is mind numbing. I appreciate your effort!
Most people: GoPro image is too wide…i’ll just crop it in post
Van: GoPro image is too wide… I’ll just build a new camera
crop just can't compensate for the wrong focal length though
@@brian-esss but can't increase quality of bad image sensor.
Try crop in low-light videos, this is awful
Well the image is vastly superior to anything I’ve ever saw out of a GoPro 😂
You’re an inspiration Van! Thank you for the videos 🙏
You're doing the right thing. Conceptual artists are mystics rather than rationalists. They leap to conclusions that logic cannot reach.
I would love if he pins your comment.
Rationalists did this mod back in 2013, and this MyStiCs ArTiSt just grew up in 2023 to do the same, but present is a WOW-TECH!
@@nikostalk5730man, did Van steal your wife or something? You’re in every comment that praises this idea. Van was already working with Tom Sachs way before 2013 so it’s a moot point to argue about dates. Just enjoy the content or go watch something you enjoy instead of this, why do you submit to something you dismiss?
@@LuisMercadoorg just wondering , or can't i?
Absolutely love your work. From one Spirited Man to another, thank you for the videos!
Logic is forced on most kids before they've had a chance to pursue 'irrational' ideas they put themselves into. We adults want work we can put ourselves into. Van smiles briefly sanding his handle. He's putting himself into his idea of a camera rig. His creation is not for anyone else. The cost is not important. He has the money. Creativity comes through a wide economic range. I wish this kind of work for all of us.
Concept. Production. Editing. = Filmography (is that a word) Gold. Well done sir. Well done.
Well done! I’ve been there myself. The process and the obsession is rewarding in itself. Thanks for sharing!
DOGGONE! The image coming out of that thing is beautiful.
The lens really adds so much character to the image. Got me wanting one!
I love the new NEIPRO work of art. GoPro finally got the upgrade we've been waiting for.
Love going along on the thought and creativity rides.
Loved it as always!
This is how spirited people build the perfect camera. Trial, error, then success. The footage speaks for itself, Van. Nicely done.
There's something utterly delightful about a C-mount GoPro mod. It defeats the entire purpose of the thing if you try to use it the way it was intended, but what you get in return is a really fun, compact solution for specialty shots. I'm really looking forward to what you'll accomplish with this new configuration going forward, especially in the realm of other build videos.
Very well done!
"Hobbies are for fun"
I've been watching your videos for a long time.
Every video is incredibly INSPIRING to me. and surprised me.
Love your work 🧡
This is the stuff why I love the internet! Thank you for this wonderful video!
Oh yes just what i needed! love you van
great stuff!
I absolutely love it!
I love the spirit of this video so much!!
Love this!
I've been wanting to try this on my GoPros! Love the results.
love this!
Love this soooo much 😊
My local TV station, LWT had Angenieux lenses on their bigass studio pedestal cameras.
It had that word on the side and I was transfixed whenever they showed behind the scenes.
I always wanted an LWT camera.
I love this video.
Thanks
so beautiful, you cant help but fall in love with the philosophy
This is good project bravo 👏
Love these gopro videos
"illogical judgments lead to new experiences"
Came at an interesting moment in time. Thank you Van.
Brilliant!
Good stuff!
Thank you really enjoyed the video
Look forward to every new video
I like it .good job.
There are just something about this video that reminds me of my 12 year old self wanting to put all kinds of rig to my low quality techs.
Once I wanted to make a camera mounted helmet and stuff, but was not possible due to budget and resources.
But you, Van, are living my dream right now. These kinds of videos are the exact reason why I subscribed
i love when u talk about cameras
great cinematography!
Van, you're Amazing person keep on creating
this is amazing
I love it, a great tool to have at your disposal
this is awesome!
Im currently doing my masters dissertation and was feeling a quote to tie stuff together, symbolically. sentence number 5 of sentences on conceptual art will be my opening quote. Thank you spirited man, thankyou, this touched me deeply
Cinematic AF. 🤘🏼🙌🏼
This was amazing
wow amazing just sharing here, I just bought my canon R10 and a macro lens for my product shots, this was on a trip to San Diego (I just broke my macro lens for my previous T7i at work) and I think the feelings this tools gave us while studying them & using them are amazing and when you put them to work for they to pay themselves, its amazing. Amazing video, it remind me when i was trying all kind of augments" magnifying filters" before my first macro on my sony Alpha, best lens I ever bought, still working.
actually made me lol watching you type out the already printed text while filming with that camera.. love it
I think I've never seen someone phrase "lol" like that. Wonderful
I got shook. You truly are an artist.
Pure genius ❤❤
What a shot that was of the guy driving a truck with everything missing but the frame and engine!
This is enlightenment.
Good to be back
Perfectly ok. Ok in every good way. I love everything about this.
Amazing
amazing
I’ve definitely gone down this rabbit hole before. I never got as far as making a single purchase, but when I realized how much more versatile a GoPro could be with a few modifications then my curiosity got the best of me. Mind you this was back during the Hero 4 era. Thanks for actually being crazy enough to do it LOL
Man-o-man-the joy is in the gizmo. Having the idea-overcoming the obstacles-making it work-putting it on the shelf and letting it catch dust motes while you sit back and say, "I did that."
One of the coolest things i've seen in a while
I WISH I could say that I haven't done similar pursuits to end with similar results, only to later realize it wasn't the thing I had tried for in the beginning, but the voyage along the way that mattered most.
awesome!
This is inspiring af
I can't tell you how many times I've worked on a project beyond the point of a "rational" stopping point. I get a small idea, often late in the project, that consumes me and I end up spending far more time and expense pursuing that one small detail than the project did up until that point. And it is an unwritten rule that this very detail is likely to go completely unappreciated by anyone else but me. I'm glad I'm not alone in this. Most enjoyable, Van.
It's so beautiful I want to cry, but I fear the tears will distort the stunning image, so I'm fighting it as fiercely as possible and operating a dehumidifier too.
Rocking those eye doctor specs
That is petty cool keep it up I know you’ll one of the coolest inventions ever
Watching watching watching, until the close up seen..... WHOA!
This is insanely satisfying in an off kilter way.
Finally, just what I have been searching for.... A camera like, like.... Like that!
Awesome jj van
I respect that of you sir...1love my bro
Just ordered the die trying shirt. So cool I love it man.
I LOVE IT !!! Passion with purpose :) Leica lenses live through GoPro.
This whole camera rig is a gift to yourself and as someone once told me, a gift has to be nice, made and thoughtful and that extra 6 mm lens was a very nice surprise 😁
The question of course is, if a camera with these qualities could be store bought. I think you'll have a hard time finding that with the money you used.
Cool!✌️
That's a beautiful setup, at first I thought you had purchased Leica M Glass, haha, that would have been just crazy. The rig itself, absolutely aesthetically pleasing..
I ❤❤❤❤ your camera, it is the only one in the world and it is perfect. It was worth it all the way. Well built!!!
Oh Van, I think I love you. Now I know the reason why I watch your videos and subscribe to your channel~ through your own actions, you remind me that it’s OK for me, to be me.. and therefore, I fear getting in front of the camera less now.
I think you designed an absolutely beautiful camera there. Where most may see a question mark next to a dollar sign, I see the actual camera itself as being the art.
Consequently, it wouldn’t surprise me one bit if it sold for a lot of money one day.
Van i love your videos
This spirited man loves your videos !
Fascinating, never knew it was possible to buy modified GoPros.
Olympus tg-6 with the digiscoping with Celestron humming bird is pinnacle of photography.
Agreed
Ingenuity!
Love it. I wonder how image stabilization is on the longer lens?
Stabilisation won't work. The GoPro expects the original lens and corrects for it. I had 2 lens swapped hero 7s. You need to set the camera to "wide" and leave the stabilisation off.
The Neistat brothers are so talented ❤❤
We'd have no museums if people didn't follow their wild theories and ideas. Well done, sir! Subbed.
very inspiring, I wonder if the camera stabilization still works when you do this
Add a matte box so you can use CP and ND filters in the car. Filming through the windshield , you need the CP to cut the glare. And the matte box flag is going to help with bokah when the sun is at just that high angle. ( I've been building out a 10yo Canon Vixia camcorder with a similar rig.)
Storytelling: GOD LEVEL!
