This is THE watch that got me back into watches in general 6 years ago. It was my Rolex grail since the first time I saw it.. I am truly happy to say as of last Friday I have obtained it!!!
Super awesome review, Anna. Thank you! I knew when I first saw the Z-Blue, years ago, I wanted it. And I started saving and saving because I’m no hedge fund manager! Just a dude. Beyond really digging the “WHAT the-” color scheme, I knew it was, for most Rolex fans, a true left turn outlier- which immediately made it even more attractive to me. Why follow the flock when you can be your OWN shepard? Baaaaaah! (Cue sheep sound.) Sure I’ve always privately and embarssingly drooled over a Sub, but how many Subs do I see- even on the subWAY (back when we rode the subway!) So many. And how many of them are fake? Who the hell knows. The fakes are so damn scarily spot-on these days. With the Z-Blue, at least it isn’t a particularly popular model among most- which made it rarer since fewer folks were buying it, and it seems to be pretty hard for the counterfeiters to recreate, especially that sapphire crystal and zirconium dial. I’ve seen some fakes, and man do they suck! So I saved & saved, kept popping into various AD’s here in NYC- and as luck would have it, after 2 years of no luck- but still fun to go in and ask- they had just put a Z-Blue in the display case. HOO HAH. (Al Pacino.) It’s mine, and when I look at it, straight on, and from the side...I’m still in awe of its beauty and uniqueness. “Holy crap. I own this thing? Me?! WHAT the-“. :)
The Z-Blue is the coolest Rolex ever made and probably the only one I'll ever own. This is the only watch in the Rolex lineup that isn't a complete snoozefest.
Can someone tell me when the channel changed? We had her, rollie on more often, and watch exhibition videos, and now its like a 20-30 min podcast; which is fine, im just curious as to what happened.
As much as I like the Milgauss I have to say the Omega Seamaster Railmaster in my opinion is a better watch when it comes to an aesthetic point of view, but in a debate of specs the Railmaster blows the Milgauss out of the water as it has 15000 gauss rating vs the 1000 gauss rating of the Milgauss. I hope that Rolex ups their game in the anti magnetic game especially because Omega is making almost all of their watches anti magnetic.
i think rolex since 2000 uses parachrome hairspring and since 2014 they move to silicon. although the milgauss and railmaster uses faraday cage for its casing, the rest of the lineup that uses parachome and silicon hairspring adds a significant resistance to magnetic field
Yeah. But it’s an omega. I had an aquaterra....wore the Millgauss so I sold it. ..I have a globe master.....prefer the Millgauss...likely will sell globe. Never will sell the milly.
"Gauss being the unit of measurement of magnetic fields". Gauss is the unit of measure of magnetic FLUX DENSITY, not a unit of measurement of a "magnetic field" as you put it. While magnetic flux density is inherent in any magnetic field, what you said made no sense :)
@@Bilderburger I hope you're not suggesting I'm perving over Anna. I think she has a less pedestrian mind. I enjoy her innovative ideas and how she shares her knowledge.
I have the milgauss with the green crystal and black dial (got it in 2012). In addition to the features discussed in the video, it keeps EXCELLENT time.
Great video Anna! The Rolex milgauss is my Grail watch! I never really considered owning a Rolex, I'm more partial to Omega, but when I first saw the milgauss, with the blue dial and the green tint crystal, I fell in love with it. Keep up the great content, and I will keep saving my allowance for the Z- blue!
I’ve had the z-blue Milgauss since 2016. It’s a no frills technical watch with a lot of interesting design cues. I would love to see a reissue of the Milgauss 6543 featuring a honeycomb dial. Very well made and informative video Anna!!!
A former coworker let me try on this model and I absolutely loved it. I’m not a Rolex fanboy and tend to prefer Omega Seamaster Divers, Aqua Terras but this is one Rolex I would consider.
Z-blue Milgauss has a fascinating dial but it is pointless to like and go after any Rolex anymore since they are only avaliable at grey dealers for 2x 3x prices. Dumbness…
As a Rolex collector and previous owner of the Z-blue: The green sapphire and blue dial is very VERY nice. But the case thickness made me fall out of love with the watch. And as a daily wearer, the case and the center link is also too much of a scratch magnet... But again, depends on the role of the watch in your collection. Great video :-)
Had the opportunity to get one last week new from my AD, but I was out of town so I wouldn’t have been able to try it on wrist. My wrist is 6.75 and ultimately my understanding of the additional heft, as well as the polish made me decide to pass. Currently I’m heart set on an explorer for a daily. Glad to see this is a common thread.
2014, as much as I remember already almost impossible to get a Daytona for retail at an AD and had to pay extra premium for pre owned. So not sure if you’re correct here. The milgauss is a beauty though!
The Z-Blue always looked cheap to me. Either the Blue dial or the Green crystal would've been enogh but both is just over the top and way too loud. The shades of Blue and Green shades really clash with each other. But the Black GV looks very handsome and subtly unique.
Matthew Dale Well yes but it was certainly ahead of the GMT, Sub, Skydweller in terms of being worth well over list. Also before the Daytona started changing hands for twice retail.
Had the opportunity to get one of these from my AD last week, but would have had to be sight unseen as I was traveling. Such a conundrum, I’ve heard they are even more beautiful in person, but I’ve also seen they are a bit chunkier than what I am currently looking for (Explorer). Still wonder if I made the wrong decision by not grabbing it while I could.
8 minute video that was supposed to review the z-blue Milgauss. Almost all of the first 6 minutes talking about the greatness of Rolex, at the 5:45 mark, finally starts talking about the z-blue Milgauss. No closeup pic till about the 6:30 mark where we get a hasty breakdown. In any event, I want the watch, it's the only Rolex I really have any intention of buying.
Great video. I love my milgauss z-blue. It was my first Rolex, and it spoke to me as few other watches do. I can’t say I’ve ever seen an Omega that made me want it (and it’s not for lack of trying!). But the Rolex Z-blue Milgauss had me ensnared right away.
Milgauss z blue is a stunning watch and my fav in my collection. Love the lightening hand, the crystal, all the 'Rolex' hidden here and there and the history behind it. You have to see it in person:)
You know your Rolex history! This is a great watch - I just got one - I love it! The most stunning Rolex you can buy. That saphire crystal and that blue face is just stunning.
Great Vid! But unfortunately I’m not a fan of this color way. If the Milgauss came out with a rotating Bezel and a white gold lightning bolt seconds hand and a honeycomb dial... I’d buy two! Lol
I have to say that existing anti-magnetic movements makes watches like the Milgauss feel functionally obsolete. Though it is probably my favorite Rolex design. Like an Explorer for people with a personality.
I prefer my Railmaster Blue Jeans over the Rolex. I’ve owned several Rolexes before and have always found myself being self conscious about them. Especially for my age. The Railmaster is discreet and perfect for my every day, but I’m not gonna lie, I’d love to have a Milgauss to just look at.
Didn't realize earliest version of Milgauss had rotating bezel. Rolex shud bring that bezel back 4 the Milgauss. Shudve bot Rolex Turn O Graph when available

Most Omegas are way better protected from magnetic than Milgauss.
Bought my Z Blue at an AD with a 20% discount several years ago. It has nearly doubled in the price I paid.
Hard to hear the intro music at the beginning.. not sure if it's supposed to sound that way or not

Matthew my wrist is 6.75, it was ok on my wrist although I’d have preferred an explorer
It's more than ironic that the Z Blue is both the anti-Rolex AND one of the most iconic Rolex designs ever released.
Considering what electronics engineers make, they should release a precious metals option.
2014, as much as I remember already almost impossible to get a Daytona for retail at an AD and had to pay extra premium for pre owned. So not sure if you’re correct here. The milgauss is a beauty though!

Milgauss has always had a way of being weirdly cool IMO...whether or not you deal w/ magnetism in daily life...
I bought one this year jan, and fell in love wit it immediately

Matthew Dale Well yes but it was certainly ahead of the GMT, Sub, Skydweller in terms of being worth well over list. Also before the Daytona started changing hands for twice retail.

Beautiful watch, but I’m pretty sure Omega Co-Axial watches have more magnetic resistance so are more worth it on that spec.
Of all Rolex Milgauss. I like the whote dial the best look clean and classy. White woth orange perfect combo.
