I nearly broke my wrist the other day shoveling snow; this robot is perfect for my place because it can work in tight spaces; where as a full size pick up truck won't be able to. Thumbs up guys!
You could use something like the Oculus rift to control the camera, You could also auto map out the paths via GPS. After removing the snow return to base and (quickswap?) the plough for a hopper with salt. This is awesome!
This is easily the best snow robot I've seen. Great job. Please commercialize it. Most other snow robots are designed by people who have no idea what they're doing.
When I first saw it come out of the garage and it plowed down the little drive way and back up I thought to myself "pfftttt.. so what.". Then I saw it do the side walk and I thought to myself "Wow that is amazing what a useful little machine!". Think of all the time it would of taken to do that with a human and shovel! Oh and the pain. Great video!
This is a fantastic idea. I wonder if it can record its plow pattern and replicate automatically? Also, does it have a proximity warning if it gets to close to something or a moving object?
I've live by the beach in Southern California my whole life. I am spoiled and would never live anywhere that gets that cold or snows. I do think that is a wonderful invention and for the right price highly marketable. I am handicapped and would have to hire someone to do that. very cool, no pun. Much better than the messy snow blowers I've seen on tv.
Hey this thing plows like crazy. I think if public services had such things, snow would be gone before you even wake up. Less people needed for that, it can be converted into anything, and it is eco-friendly! Brilliant, just brilliant!
Not a bad idea. Only one question. What about major sidewalk damage from frost? In any place where it snows often frost will inevitably be a problem and will always destroy sidewalks. How does this thing handle damaged surfaces?
That thing is pretty slick and I can really respect the amount of work it took to make this. All I can hope is that it finds its place in the market and doesnt take my job! ;D
What would be a great addition to this is to rig up a snow thrower attachment for when the snow banks get real high in mid winter. This would make a great 'instructable'
lol i love how serious everyone is about this. And for everyone whining about snow depth, whats to stop you from mounting a thrower attachment with a small onboard 4 stroke for deeper stuff? it seems to have plenty of power to haul something like that around.
@JeffyBigH IT Did 20" of snow last year it was though I had to Charge it twice but claened my driveway, It took 1 hour and beat the hell out of the batteries, Roboplow weighes 980 pounds and pushes hundreds of pounds of snow
This is seriously genius and one of the more well thought out and executed designs I've seen. This guy should start a business manufacturing these, I'm sure there's alot of people that would love to have one. Not only is this very cool and something your neighbors could talk about but it could also be a great way to get the kids to want to move snow ^^
Post up another vid if you get deeper snow! I'd love to see it in 12" - 14" of snow. It might need chains, but I'm pretty sure it's heavy enough to handle that much. Awesome project!
I am curious, what is the realistic range for the controls, and what would you think a production model could sell for. Considering that Cheap snow throwers are hundreds already, there just might be a market for these, if they were priced like a riding mower - 3,000 - 4,000 maybe?

awesome video and great idea. I remember a crazy uncle of mine who built something similar only smaller.... also you could hook a raking system on the back so you could rake leaves in the fall time.
I know excatly where your plowing! Bring that thing up the road to Elgin! I would love to see it in person, and I work for a snow company who would die for one.
great implementation of a great idea! I imagine that it would be much more efficient than a gas-powered snowblower- keeps you out of the elements, also!
Love this idea! Is this fully operated from your computer? How far is the range if so? Have you considered putting a higher warning light on it? Have you considered adding another camera to show what is behind you [would hate for some pesky kid to sneak up behind it and get taken out!]? Oh, and I want one.
I plow incline driveways for apartment buildings and can see this in use for low headroom applications. Another application would be for removing snow from industrial / commercial flat roofs with a blower mounted.
Wow. almost six years later and i'm just now hearing about this... this is too impressive to not become a thing
Great work! A remote controlled coffin with a plow :D Love it.

Thumbs up guys!
Genius, brilliant, innovative, fantastic, unbelievable, spectacular, LEAN!
I WANT one of these, and it doesn't even SNOW here!!! lmao
Where's the buy it now button?

this is hands down the best rc snow plow i've ever seen i'm sure someone is offering you some big money for this idea it's genius lol..
It's the Battlebot snowplow! God I miss that show. Keep it up man.
Awesome construction. Maybe i wanna build a snow robot in the future, but now i need to be finish with my projected. Thanks for a good idea..
Absolutely amazing, have you ever considered selling a build package (plans)? I'd buy one.
Yes I plan to put a liquid ice melt system on it.
When I first saw it come out of the garage and it plowed down the little drive way and back up I thought to myself "pfftttt.. so what.". Great job! LED Fog lights, rear LED strobes, lot of relays,wires,cameras......EXCITING PROJECT!!!!!!!!!! Congratulations!!
That's pretty awesome. I like that you drove around the block clearing off the sidewalk for everyone.
Way to go STC! I barely recognized the street view and Mount St. Mary's Park! Awesome Invention!
-South Elgin
That is so awesome. What a great idea.
We use a tractor for plowing duties, but this robo plow would make plowing lots of fun!
This is a fantastic idea. I wonder if it can record its plow pattern and replicate automatically? Also, does it have a proximity warning if it gets to close to something or a moving object?
Awesomeness! The rotable camera and the Flashing LED lights are brilliant!
shut up and take my money

wow....You should have been to Robot Wars....your robots would have kicked ass!!!
Man this by far the greatest thing I seen!!! Congrats!!
Hey this thing plows like crazy.

Less people needed for that, it can be converted into anything,

Brilliant, just brilliant!
Effective range is approximately 5 city blocks
Fail-safes on all channels if the robot does not see a signal it stops.
The robot rolls back and says "Another job well done" Pretty cool!
That is so cool!!
Not a bad idea. Only one question. What about major sidewalk damage from frost? In any place where it snows often frost will inevitably be a problem and will always destroy sidewalks. How does this thing handle damaged surfaces?
All it needs to be perfect is a lawnmower attachment. lol ☺
That thing is pretty slick and I can really respect the amount of work it took to make this. All I can hope is that it finds its place in the market and doesnt take my job! ;D
kudos! very cool project, was probably a blast to build!
I think the flashing tail lights was a nice touch. Nice job! Love it!
Where can I get one?? This is a very nice Christmas gift :)
Yeah CNC machinery would come in really handy when working with robots!
That is really cool.
What would be a great addition to this is to rig up a snow thrower attachment for when the snow banks get real high in mid winter. This would make a great 'instructable'
One of the most original and most useful things i've seen on youtube. Good work guys.
Thanks
Great video, well produced and fun to watch. Can you do another one with showing some of the controls while operating?
at first i thought the wheels wouldn't have enough traction, but this thing rocks!
AWESOME!! Few additions ever think of a salt spreader that would be the total package!!
Guys patent this and get it into production! Virginia needs these stat!
This is great. Imagine earning money clearing driveways. As a teenager I did that.
Very cool
I've got a loooooong ass drive way. Not only do I want, but I NEED it.
lol i love how serious everyone is about this.
And for everyone whining about snow depth, whats to stop you from mounting a thrower attachment with a small onboard 4 stroke for deeper stuff? it seems to have plenty of power to haul something like that around.
I was wondering what kind of speed controller are you using?
I like it, very nicccccccccce movie and robot
Now thats cool, Is it controlled from the garage of from a hand held remote?
@JeffyBigH
IT Did 20" of snow last year it was though I had to Charge it twice but claened my driveway, It took 1 hour and beat the hell out of the batteries, Roboplow weighes 980 pounds and pushes hundreds of pounds of snow
This is awesome. It'd be even better if you could remove the plough and attach a couple of lawnmower blades for the summer time!
Take my money please :D
Do i even wanna guess what it cost to build?? Very cool though!

Amazing!! It probably gets better gas mileage than my 87 Chevy too..lol ;)
Awesome robot & video!
that is great , awesome,,, I could sure use one of those
getting tired of shoveling or even using a snow thrower
I've live by the beach in Southern California my whole life.
I am spoiled and would never live anywhere that gets that cold or snows. I do think that is a wonderful invention and for the right price highly marketable. I am handicapped and would have to hire someone to do that. very cool, no pun.
thats so cool, and fast! i think you need to step it up a notch for v2 instead of a plow, a snow blower, and studded tires for deep snow plowing.
I would buy it, that's probably the neatest thing I've ever seen. It would be great for my dad since he can't shovel because of his bad back
Very nice work. Just add a V plow, reverse cam and maybe some more downpressure
now that is how u enjoy a snow day!!!..... like a boss!!!
Please post another video. 1 years is just too long to wait. Great idea on the roboplow. Maybe post a how to do it video....
SO AWESOME! definitely want one!
what is the price???
Dear Santa, please give me a snow plowing robot for chrismas or Rudolf dies!
I am impressed! It has power. Snowmover! What's the range on the camera?
Really amazing, you have fun while working, the radio reach of is good?
Congrats for your SNOW PLOWING ROBOT.
Luiz
That is way cool. Queation: have you had any problems with the Pneumatics in yhe cold with freezing up?
hi there ... this is pretty cool ...
can you do it 5 time bigger and bring it to canada?
awesome video and great idea. I remember a crazy uncle of mine who built something similar only smaller.... also you could hook a raking system on the back so you could rake leaves in the fall time.
Amazingly well done. All it needs now is its' own little door to roll out of the garage!
That's the best invention i ever seen!
So cool.
Combining fun and work!
where can i buy one of those?? :))
Best snow robot on youtube
i bet the people driving by were thinking "i wish i had one"
I know excatly where your plowing! Bring that thing up the road to Elgin! I would love to see it in person, and I work for a snow company who would die for one.
Screw getting a new snow thrower,I want one of these.
Whats the max push weight? Whats the cost of one of these? Why did you choose wheels instead of tracks?
wow...its awesome
this robot was operated with remote right?
Definitely need one! How much and where??
woah that is soo cool! although i hate it when people clear the snow away - its really not that hard to walk on it and it looks really cool!
I, for one, welcome our new snow plowing robot overlords.
great implementation of a great idea! I imagine that it would be much more efficient than a gas-powered snowblower- keeps you out of the elements, also!
This is awesome. How much would you say it cost to build? Also...would you consider building one to sell?
looks like something that would be on that old show battlebots
Awesome i WANT ONE!!!!!
It's not a robot, it's a remote controlled plough. Still very cool.
Love this idea! Is this fully operated from your computer? How far is the range if so? Have you considered putting a higher warning light on it? Have you considered adding another camera to show what is behind you [would hate for some pesky kid to sneak up behind it and get taken out!]? Oh, and I want one.
this is totally amazing how much time did it take to build this nice robot?
That is one very cool machine, no need for it here but I feel sure you could market them worldwide, well done.
I want one! I would volunteer its services for the neighborhood driveways! #resourcebasedeconomy
And you could sit in your living room window or in your warm car! How ingenius! I hope you pattent this soon and get it on the market! What potential!
cool, could also consider adding some sort of salt dispenser in the back
i love the flashin red lights on the back those are so cool great invention guys nice job 5 ***** btw are the red lights led to?
how well does it work in deeper snow?
ill take 3 please! :p
How much? I also have the most extreme dixie chopper lawn mower. I want the same hook up on that as well.
where are the tires from? excellent engineering!!
I'm not going to lie that's pretty damn awesome. Great job. Curious question, about how much does it weigh?
