Another great video Smash love the basket, you should learn how to make your own sauces that way you can make it to your own taste well worth doing to learn that is you tube lol till next one take care tight lines
Great to see so many ormers these days. As a boy (am73 now) . We used to go over to Herm ormering and used to forage the wild mushrooms, parasols and bluets etc.i still have an old foraging basket. Will have to put a rope on it like you. Didn't realise what it was for. My Father had an old sailing schooner which he used to trade to the Islands. Went back a few years ago and it's full of yachts! Good to hear you have a hint of the old Guernsey accent. Alright eh!
Old lady that loves watching your channel. Live in US, NC. Grew up hunting and fishing. Love learning what goes on where you are. Love your puppy Smash. Awesome basket
Keeping traditions alive love it Smash. That basket looked brilliant. Like a piece of functional art. Definitely make some more meal cook ups on the channel. Not sure if was just me but I didn’t have one add come up while watching this video, strange. Catch you on the next one 👍🇨🇦
The ormer basket is absolutely lovely. Fair play for keeping the traditional crafts!😀Think I know what I will be looking to buy😀Great video, can’t wait for the next ormering tide….ormer burgers rule👍 Thanks for another wonderful video…best wishes from Alderney xx

I have never heard of Parsley sauce but I am in San Diego California so that could explain it. I do buy Coleman's Mustard though, it is usually the only dry tinned mustard on our store shelves.
Hey, Smash (and Puppy Smash) I have a tip for you when it comes to breading & frying: (2) Separate Bowls Needed - In (1) Bowl: 2 Eggs (whisked) in Second Bowl: Mix Flour with Corn Meal (half and half) Now: Dip meat in Eggs - Then dip meat into flour / cornmeal then - do steps 1 & 2 again (so you have double-dipped). Then: place breaded meat onto grease (make sure the grease has a good scald first!) then fry until crispy and consume! Regards - J.P.H.
I'm trying to imagine what ormers taste like as I've never tried them I love seafood and your videos with the cook up afterwards are brilliant I'm going to have a go at eating and cooking more seafood you a lucky man to live where you live fresh seafood and stunning views keep up the good work from joff the trucker

everyones turning the rocks over for the easy ormers but jay you know form experience were to look in them there cracks great forage and cook up ! was wondering how long does a lobster take to harden its shell ? if you had a holding tank then that lobster would of been on the menu lol
I imagine the water is pretty frigid about now, how do you warm your hands up after dipping them in the ice cold water so much? Heat packs in your pocket?
Another cracking vid 👍👍 what’s the deal with putting soft lobsters back if they’re in size? Is it illegal to take soft ones? I’ve learnt from watching previous Smash videos that ones with berries go back (even tho I believe legally you can take which I think that rule should be changed) but I don’t know about soft ones so just curious 😊😊💪💪👊👊
@@SMASHFISHING ah cheers for reply 👍👍 ah ok, so really not much taste so may as well put back…. I’ll remember that chap 😊 if I ever get one of course 😂😂

Beautiful! Next time you do your garlic mushrooms put a nice big drizzle of balsamic over them. It gives them a rich nutty caramelised mushroom taste.

Hi, Jay! How long is the ormer season? I really liked the basket. Nice catch! Be well!
First 4 months of the year , 6 days in each month , then banned for the rest of the year
Meal fit for a foraging king
Extra early, hell yeah!
Nice pan work mate Iam sure you could of got a bit more on your plate tho lol

Entertaining, as usual. Could you throw in (or direct me to) a vid of the foraging opening day crowds
We did a video giving to elderly , that was the first daytime tide with lots of people
More videos, shorst or any kind of content from such an amazing person like You would be really nice to watch.
Your very kind thank you
Great video smash ! Have you been doing much fishing ? Haven’t seen many videos lately
Yeah but not catching much atm
😋 so want to try abalone but probably cost a keg & arm for some since I'm nowhere near the ocean
13:12 is not speeded up video, it's just a very hungry Smash not wasting time!
😂😂💪
Make shorts with your food cooking process or whatever you feel like it’s cool for a short video and post it, they are awesome for publicity
Abalone curry perhaps???
Yummy
had abalone for the first time but they were frozen, still one of the better tasting seafood even compared to fresh mussels
Did you already try to eat a soft lobster? I seem to remember you thinking of trying one to see if it's any different of normal lobster.
No I’m going to try one sometime tho
The soft lobsters have sweeter meat. Give one a try some time.
👍
i know you have only a short time to pick abalone but are they about all year round
Yea they are hear all year round mate
Where do you get your crabbing hook from smash?
We make them for old spears
@@SMASHFISHING Thanks for the reply👍

We put them back as aparently they are watery when soft but you can take them if you want
@@SMASHFISHING ah cheers for reply 👍👍 ah ok, so really not much taste so may as well put back…. I’ll remember that chap 😊 if I ever get one of course 😂😂
Now you’re talking to Jay I love mushrooms and the abalone I told you I’m going to get a ticket and I’m coming over there and you’re gonna have to cook for me
😂😂
What do you mean by soft lobster? And why cant you keep the lobster?
A lobster that has shed its shell , makes them really soft , you can keep them but people say they don’t taste nice
De e licious😋
not many basket/weavers about anymore its a dieing art
Do ormer move much or do they just find a safe place when young and spend the rest of their days there until you scoff them?
Yes they move round the rocks
Ormer limit in 2022 is 20 ormers per person. just a heads up mate
Not in guernsey mate no limit hear
Was that fucking rhetorical? Yes cook and eat the food dammit.
😂😂😂 best comment for a while lol made me giggle
They are made from bamboo.
do you bleed your Abalone ? if not try it
How do you bleed an abalone ?
@@SMASHFISHING get another abalone ( rounded end ) and bash a cross into the foot of the another abalone leave for 2/4 hr cook as normal
No Smash on this one?
No we trained today on the beach
You're not allowed to keep soft lobsters???
Yes we can , nobody keeps them as there meant to be very mushy
Where is the dog? I want to see the dog.
3rd wassup smash
Where's Smash?
Smash when's the baby due?
2 months 🔥
