I like the "build a watch collection" videos. Set a budget and number of watches and go. Lots of fun seeing what people come up with. I also like that two of my watches made your list. Makes me think that I'm not a complete idiot. The Moser Heritage Dual Time is my favorite watch I've ever owned. It's casual, a little sporty, and wears more like a 41mm. But when you get in close, it's epically beautiful and refined. I've been all over the front and back of it with a 10x loupe and can't find an issue.
Ahhh bill, so happy to see you featuring my Heritage Dual time, small detail. I asked Edouard Meylan how many of these were produced and he told me so far 200, but they could make another run (so not limited) but so far it’s 200. very Rare, indeed.
Thank you Brandon! I read why H2 could not advertise the price on their site (Austrian rules about including VAT), but I wasn't sure. Good news for buyers! Take care, Bill
Great video Bill. I don't think anyone could argue with the watches you picked to illustrate the three watch collection categories. The Heure d'ici Heure d' ailleurs is a great example of a dual time watch with the added benefit of doing double duty with jumping hours for each zone. Who does that! It's my favorite watch out of all of them. I'm not really a big fan of dress watches, having said that I believe I might have the dressiest dress watch on the planet, a Chaumet Dandy Arty Open Face. What a name! Best regards, Brian
I was in LA in December and got to try on the Moser you included. I was very impressed with it, and didn't want to take it off my wrist. Since Journe moved from the AD sales approach to Company studios, it appears that some shops are shifting to Moser for product that is rare/creatively conceived/super high grade (noting Moser is much more comfortable doing wild color ways).
Great to hear Jerry! I think H. Moser is becoming the top watchmaker with more than just a few watches and a range so that there's an entry level for a wider audience. Take care, Bill
another good video Bill. your genuine enthusiasm for quality, interesting watches is clear to see and hear, and is appreciated. some good options. in terms of dual time zone watches, the Explorer II is still produced, although nowadays they are made in 42mm rather than 40mm, and with an orange rather than red 24hr hand. i like them so much i have both black and white dial variants 🤓
Thanks David, I found that both the Explorer II and the Yachmaster II are still in in Rolex online catalog, but somewhat hidden. Rolexes I tend to like get cancelled! Take care, Bill
Bill, great selection. Thanks for including the Harbring2, I am really enjoying it. I too have the Polar Explorer 16570. It is a wonderful watch to wear and great to travel with.
Hi Paul, I was wrong about the Explorer II being cancelled; it's still available. I've always like the white version since I think it has better visibility. Take care, Bill
What's cool/interesting about the Chopard? The strap of course looks like a tire, but it's infused with vanilla and smells like vanilla!! So, it doesn't smell like a tire...
Sorry to disappoint you tire-sniffers, but I like it. At one time they had an inexpensive ETA, and they switched to an in-house Chopard movement. That's a good thing JD. Take care, Bill
Very nice video Bill, but isn't the explorer II a "GMT"? The main hour hand can be indipendently jumped to local time... the red hour hand, refered to the 24h bezel, is normally used for home time... or as day-night indicator (as it was in thw first version). Sure, you can use the red hour hand for a second time abroad... but it is not so practical...😉
I bought a Frank Muller Master Banker that can set the two sub dial timing freely + day/night indicator. I found it extremely useful when I travelling from city yo city and taking transit. I can set three time zone with half hour time zone in consideration.
Hi Bill , thanks for your Video, there is a German brand called Union glasheutte they have excellent quality watches for attractive price , they have wide offering from dress watches , chronograph, GMT ....not sure if they retail in the US.
@watchartsci hahah excatly, I had the chance to see few models from before the Swatch group acquisition coming in for services I think there were sister company of GO , they had a different logo like a small house and higher level of watch making and complications ..I have seen annual calender , perpetual calendar and panorama date window.. 3 quarter plate , gold rotor typical Glasheutte style watch ..Swatch re positioned the price so it won't compete with GO nonetheless Union watches in their price segment offer a better build quality , accuracy and value for money .
You have some great choices here Bill. But it is your Seiko 5 that kind of brings me back. At 18, I had a rather old BSA Bantam two stroke, and my first 5. Between overheating, I rode that bike all over the UK. In typical British fashion it vibrated like a jack hammer. I can imagine the abuse it must have put on the watch. Charming as it was, the BSA worked when it wanted to, but the Seiko never failed.
I have a dive watch a pilot chronograph with UTC and a dress watch, I think I need a complication now. I believe dress watches are hand wound as they tend to be thinner
For classical oriented people, a dress watch is small (36mm is pushing it), thin, on leather, in precious metals and free of complications (seconds hands is pushing it). It's is traditionally manual wind as it was thinner than automatic. That being said I like a subtle complication like a small seconds in the Breguet classique 5907.
You're tight Echoing, but that's really Old School. There has been the development of the dress watch to something that includes use in the Executive Suite. Take care, Bill
@@watchartsci thanks Bill. But sometimes the old ways are good. I personally don't like dress watches that are as large as sports watches. Just not my taste. I do understand that if it has a few complications it will be bigger and thicker. But it wasn't that long ago when you could get a perpetual calendar in 38mm.
Hi Bill, how do you compare watches by quality and market prices? i.e GMT watches, moser vs rolex vs parmigiani, etc.. what watches will you choose and why?
Aldo, I couldn't care less about market prices. There's expensive junk; and affordable gems. Let your good horological research guide you.Take care, Bill
My mistake Remus...yes it's $9,650. Also, the YachtMaster II hasn't been discontinued like I thought. For both of those watches you have to click "Configure" and then choose Explorer II or YachtMaster II. Those are 2 Rolexes I like, and I thought they had both been discontinued because of that stupid Rolex website. Take care, Bill
@@watchartsci The funny thing is that the Rolex rumor mill is strong that the Yacht-Master II is getting discontinued this year. So you may just have been early about that one!
Or the Parmigiani Fleurier Tonda PF GMT Rattrapante steel/platinum for under $33k. Practically dollar store stuff! 😂 But seriously, I've seen the PF GMT in the metal and it is a looker!

Hey Bill, great video. A small correction if I may... the Habring² Felix which was featured in your video retails for $5,500. Cheers, Brandon

Great video, fantastic 3 piece collection 👍🏽
Hey Abdul, thanks man! Take care, Bill
Wow the Tonda with the half hour adjustment is really a sophisticated watch. Would be my choice even as only one watch 😀
I have one Andrea, and it's been great. Take care, Bill.

Some fun watches in this video. I didn’t realize that the Habring2 Felix prices have gone up so much!
Ced, a dealer corrected me-that particular Felix is $5,500. Take care, Bill
