    At Lake Michigan tent was put on 12’ high platform. Plywood structured on North and West. Strong gale winds off of Lake Michigan. Tent can remain quiet with plywood wind block. Life is so good! 😅 thank you.

    I've been afraid to sink money into a cabin tent because I kept believing they would fall apart in a year. Thank you for showing what getting quality work and taking the time to set it up right can produce. Absolutely beautiful 2 years in, and super re-assuring. Thank you.

      Thanks for watching! I do have some more recent videos on the tent and some changes that we have made. After three years it is still standing strong.

    I’d love to see a video on how to build the log structure instead of the metal frame 😊

      This gives me hope!!!! My daughter and I just moved into our 16×24 wall tent with extended fly a month and a half ago in BC
      Have you ever heard of anyone digging a hole in the ground for the woodstove? For geothermal heat?
      I'm wondering how to keep this large space heated nicely when temperature drops as I have lots of canning in here.

    • @susanl380
      @susanl380 Рік тому +1

      I have a wilderness 5 woodstove, yet cant get it to burn for more than 2.5 hours at night. So, I set my alarm and wake up to stoke the fire.
      We have some 0 degree nights coming up and I cant wait to sleep through the night as I'll let the fire go out.

      @@susanl380 I've got insulated concrete curing tarps over mine and I'm using a valley comfort for heat,was -43 last winter I'm walking around in my slippers. +25 in here all winter,up to about -30 I can sleep thru the night.

      Good luck Susan. We are getting about 4 hours of burn on our new wood stove. Our old one gave us 2 hours. Makes for a better nights sleep. But we are not living in our tent. Just a weekend thing

    Been watching your videos. I’m in Ohio, got my tent up for almost 2 months, living in it every day and night 😁
    Mine is in a larger backyard. So I bug bomb my tent on the inside. Do it once every month. Really helps keeping the unwanted wildlife out.
    Got a a/c unit for the hot days. Glamping at its best 😂

      You put an a/c in there? I'd love to know more! I'd have thought it isn't insulated enough for it to do any good.

    • @dedekinney9650
      @dedekinney9650 10 місяців тому

      Yup. A portable A/C on wheels. Air vent and water hose run to the outside. Cut a hole through the bottom tarp portion of the tent. Thinking about going permanently through the canvas, like a stovepipe. But that’s for later. I also have an outdoor ceiling fan hanging to help circulate the air. When the average temp inside the tent gets about 80-83 degrees I manage to bring it down to 73-ish running the A/C at 68 degrees setting.
      Works for me. 😎

    The corner’s do like we did just to make sure nothing happens to the tent or the fly . We cut up a truck inner tube and laid on top of tent under fly the fly is tight like yours. Been since the 60’s no problem’s at all . We have to buy new tent and all of the stuff because we had some teenagers burn our tent and 3 other tents . They got caught but we’ll never get anything from them or parents . Only thing different is we have stove pipe out the left side looking at tent .

    Great set up, looking at canvas wall tents myself. It appears the walls and front entrance don't seal to the floor, if yes then how do you keep bugs n critters out?

    • @mytwelveacres3071
      @mytwelveacres3071  7 місяців тому +1

      In short.... You don't. With that said, we don't get "critters" in the tent. Anything bigger than a mouse has never been a problem. Spider's, and little crawly bugs do get in, but they don't bother us. Mice can be a nuisance for sure. We don't keep food at the tent unless its in a mouse proof container and occasionally we have to set traps to catch them. With a little extra work you can seal around the sides of the tent to minimize the bugs. But bugs will be bugs and find their way in.
      Thanks for watching!

      @@mytwelveacres3071 Thanks, yeah was thinking more like mice or snakes. I'd want to leave the tent and inside all set up (cots and sleeping bags, etc.) for the 5-6 months of our camping season or maybe all year like you. We would not cook/eat inside.

      I'm in Arizona also and have one recommendation for any type of vinyl tent structure, yurt, dome, etc., and that is to spray at least two coats of thermashield paint onto the exterior. Thermashield was developed by NASA and can withstand fire from a blowtorch, and is extremely insulating and UV resistant. Some tent companies such as Pacific Domes offer thermashield as an option when ordering their products.

      I have several large canvas tarps from White Duck in AZ. I bought a small one 6x8. Used it cover a pallet of concrete. It was covered for 3 years. I finally used it 3 weeks ago and the concrete was just like I had just bought it from Lowe's. I use these tarps to cover building material. The AZ sun hasn't damaged it at all. I'm looking to buy a White Duck wall tent to set up to place my table saw and miter saw. Too hot to be outside in the heat. You know, what I mean.
