people always used to say he was arrogant. Listen to him speak and it is all "them", "us", "we". Not "I", except when he is ridiculing himself. Great orator. Amazing how genius's can leave school early.
I remember him, and he is a God to me. He most certainly was arrogant, but why is that seen as negative ? His achievements speak for him, and the statements and memories of his peers only add weight to this legendary man's humanity, decency and talent. Big deal, so he was arrogant, so what?
Thanks for posting. I was 19 when I joined up and couldn't go to every home game any more. Clough and Taylor used to arrive in the car park at Forest, just as I did after walking to the ground off of the Barton bus from Leicester. BC used to scan the crowd and only parents with children would approach him. He had an aura. I regret not having the nerve to try and speak to him. They were halcyon days.
I have always enjoyed listening to Brian clough. Was lucky enough to be born in 1959 and to have the pleasure of watching him on TV for many years. Great insights and no bull, what a star.
Absolutely fantastic vid. What a tribute. Apart from George Bests funeral I haven’t seen anything like this for a Football Personality. The people at Lancaster Gate at that time should be totally ashamed of themselves, for depriving us of a great England Manager. Shame on them!
I feel the same affinity, but for Forrest - so glad that they're back where they belong and wish Wayne Rooney all the best with the Rams. All this from a proud Baggies fan.
His ability was getting the best out of every footballer he was exposed to, producing 2 great club sides in Derby and Forest-but his most endearing quality was his sense of humour and ability to make anyone he met, feel he was their friend if he liked them, ego aside he made the world he touched a better place- Cheers to you Brian!
Am a Chelsea fan and remember this man clough. Very true the man who should have been England manager. Controversial but brilliant with Peter Taylor. Done it at Notts Forest. League title and 2 European Cups. Enjoyed this video of memories. Thank you Brian for all the laughs but essentially for your Honesty. Truly magical. RIP is late but Brian you will always be remembered.
Massive respect to Mr Cough’s incredible achievements. Probably will never be surpassed. Football needs characters, and there was none bigger. From a Spurs fan.
I met Brian in July 1974 first day at Leeds your late Mr clough said the steward as he drove into the Ground he had just come back from Spain with his family, Just look after my 2 kids he said to me I'm going to sort this lot out as he took training he invited me in for a drink later in his office ,Happy memories for me 😊
Very glad this popped up on my UA-cam. As a Derby lad who's lived abroad for many years now and who grew up hearing stories of Clough, this made me long for home.
Well where to start, what a fantastic documentary. It told the lot from the early days to the later ones. It's been said many times but I will say it again the best England manager we never had . I only had the pleasure and privilege to meet him in person once.He was an absolute gentleman( I met him in Rotterdam when he was commenting on a certain European cup final) what a man
Today the label of legend is given out to easily... Brian Howard Clough WAS a LEGEND no one could do what he did ... If we had him as England manager we would have won the world cup..
Do many now consider Middlesborough to be Yorkshire? It’s an interesting conversation that I’ve seen some very opposing views on. Clearly Brian said he was a proud Yorkshireman, but I don’t know if that would be the case anymore for most people from Boro.
It's easy to recognize a great manager. A great manager will produce a great team to play the game in the correct way. Brian Clough you were a great manager. Much loved and missed. R I P sir
A special man. Humanity is only gifted a certain amount of the talented and charismatic; we should learn to appreciate more whilst they are amongst us.

As well as being a great manager he was also one of the funniest personalities on TV in his heyday. Always good value.
