They play this song live at basically every show and it’s a goosebump riddled experience when you hear the entire audience singing “And when you wake up, everything is going to be fine, guarantee that you wake in a better place and in a better time.” Streetlight shows are (to use a Joel term) bussin with energy. You should really check them out if they ever come your way. Definitely worth a road trip.
I still can't listen to this song without tearing up a bit. True fucking artistry.
Yep. Just went last night in SLC.
The whole album is amazing. Here's to Life, We are the Few, The Big sleep are all classics. There isn't a bad song on the whole album.
I've never heard a bad song by Streetlight, same with Bayside, The Dear Hunter, coheed and cambria, and mogwai. There are some bands that refuse to disappoint and those are the ones we all hold dear.
They have never written a bad song, as long as you like their sound. They do something specific and excellent. Best band ever

The big sleep is amazing
There isn't a bad song in their whole discography, lol.
They as a band have the ability to bring tears to your eyes a smile to your lips and a bounce to your step
Hopefully they hear 1234 1234
the big sleep brings me to tears
@@helloonewman same here
@@erikrobert7398 I’ll see what I can do
This album is pure gold. Got me through a lot.
Streetlight is so amazing. I've been listening to them since I was like 11 years old, and Keasby was the first thing that I bought with my own money in the Catch 22 days. Every musician is this band is such a high quality that it defies logic that they're not bigger.
Streetlight is borderline prog how they write these huge songs with so many different parts and sometimes not even a discernible verse/chorus structure. The hands that thieve is my favorite ska album and by far the biggest, most ambitious project I've ever heard from a ska band. Love these guys so much
After burning myself out with this band, I revisited them after a good 5 year long break. And I have a much bigger appreciation for that album than I did when it came out. A masterpiece if I've ever heard one
I have always thought they had an element of prog to them! Good call
Man my two favorite bands in one day, these guys and NOFX. Thanks for the late Christmas present!
Yeah, I think literally every Streetlight song in existence has meaningful lyrics one way or another (many songs speaking out about suicide and how it’s not worth it) , and phenomenal instrumentation. I hope you guys start reacting to them more often. If you like what you’ve heard so far, you’ll probably like damn near every other song. All killer no filler.
Btw I didn’t even realize this song was 6 minutes. Guess I’ve never looked. It doesn’t feel that long. I guess because they change it up so often.
As someone who has contemplated the act described in this song, I knew what it was about immediately and it has saved me more than once.
We need more Streetlight Manifesto!
I watched this full video to hear you say "yeah I might add this to my playlist". Wow really worth the wait I was hoping for at least some content then it just ended. Good job guys
I appreciate these rhoughtful reactions so much. You guys are fucking awesome!

There is a huge swath of anti suicide songs throughout their catalog.
If you guys want a fan favorite moment of silence/violence
Their first album (Everything goes numb) feels a lot like a meditation on Tomas' philosophical view on suicide. He doesn't want to take away people's agency but he wants to help people.
He faces absurdity and nihilism with a thoughtful kindness.
YES, BOIS! Love me some Streetlight!
Btw, the f bomb in this song is MUCH more obvious live lmao
And these guys are PHENOMENAL live. 10/10 highly recommend. ❤
Also, not sure if I or anyone's mentioned, but these guys also play some shows with a full orchestra - Bandits of the Acoustic Revolution - that you might want to give a try. Keep jammin', bois. Love it. :)
Live Streetlight requests are coming soon on Patreon Sue
saw these guys back in 2013 in buffalo. the crowd went so hard we broke the floor during their opening song, people fell into the basement and they had to reschedule the show at a different venue. definitely the craziest thing ive ever seen at any live show. during the rescheduled show, the power went out in the middle of this song and everyone sang it together in total darkness and it was straight up insane. theres a vid of it: streetlight manifesto town ballroom 11/12/13 if anyones interested in that
Im sure. I think I still have bones on the mend from over 10 years ago
This Song for sure saved my life, so much so that it was my first tattoo.
I love that line, "I'll draw your bath and load your gun, but I hope so bad that you bathe and hunt" there are some acoustic covers of this song that leave me in tears. ua-cam.com/video/bZXF8m3Yed0/v-deo.html
When we fall, we will fall together
My wife and I have been enjoying them live for over 15 years! Catch them at a show near you.
Seen these guys live over 25 times now. Everytime they play this my eyes water a bit. Streetlight is the shit
Best band of all time
Another great one. Thank you bois.
Our pleasure! -Joel
Sadly the trumpet player passed a couple days ago
RIP Stewie
Nooooo! Rest in power Stevie.
Brain cell to Joel because this WAS a comment request at first. But I picked it up for the commenter as a Patreon selection since the request line is closed for now. So shoutout to that commenter. My only regret is the song slaps, so now Chuck won’t have to eat the chocolate dipped hotdog as stated in the TOS (trust me, it’s in there somewhere). You win this round, Chuck.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I was really hoping the song was rough so Chuck would have to suffer with that hotdog lmao -Joel
Most ska is dark lyrically and uplifting musically
They are really hard to beat live, one of the best live bands ive seen. Chris thatcher is an insane drummer.
I can't get a quarter of the way through this song without choking up. Thomas Kalnokey's lyrics are the best I've ever fucking heard bar none. I've never attempted but I've came so fucking close. Check in on your friends often and you may just save a life ❤
I thought this was just a nice, upbeat Skacore tune until I caught the line "Looking through the paper today, looking for a specific page, don't want to find her full name followed by dates."
HECK YEAH
Tomas softens that f-bomb. He does it live too.
Streetlight is the best, seen them so many times!!
Another good band with a good anti suicide message is famous last words- one in the chamber & the end of the beginning
Love Famous Last Words! I added em to the request list for you, cause I know Chuckles hasnt heard them. 🤘😁 -Joel
Melodic talking 👌
Digging that KP shirt.
Thanks! -Joel
Greaaaat
makes me smile and want to jump
Their musicianship is enviable by all of us lay punkers

So far what was the best rating song for you guys?
Ohhhhh, hard one. I think Louisville Slugger by the Have Nots was our highest rating so far. Not 100% sure though. -Joel
And you must've gotten a censored version now that you mention it I did think that the mix was a bit different than what I was used to and I've heard this a lot. It sounds tinnier than it should
How are you guys just hearing this stuff?!
6:44 would you be impressed?
Would you be impressed 7:01
If I'm remembering correctly they were all fresh out of high school or college whenever they did this album
you reacted to a few streetlight songs that I requested in sept/oct i believe and you both liked them. but this song, to me, is just too depressing. a good song, but just not for me. I'd give it a 5.8. for your reaction - 9.5 you guys are awesome, keep it up, please.
So it gets a low rating because it’s sad? That’s just kinda odd. It’s such a great song, they do a fantastic job and the powerful horns give such a clashing vibe from the lyrics.
