Very interesting as well we take for granted the presence of flies on the rivers but there has to be a process they go through before we get to see them or the fish eat them and its another world altogether :-) Thanks.

Hi David, awesome video, nice also to hear a 'normal' accent doing a nature vid. Very informative. All the years I been suffering these critters I didn't know until recently they were water born, amazing. I happen to be one of those unfortunates has a 'LUNCH' sign on their foreheads whenever midges are around. Living in south west Ireland where midges are tame compared to our Scottish cousins but chose to live in a pine forest near lots of water, how stupid was that, but I love nature and put up with midge nets and Avon skin so soft to deal with the little menaces. Maybe you might know why I am susceptible to bites where my wife has no real problems, is it a blood group thing, I'd be curious to find out. Anyhoo many thanks again for the video, hope there's lots more to come, billpmadscot B-)

Hi Calum, Yes this is the tank I mentioned! You don't buy the buzzers... What I done was scouped up some dirt and silt from the River bed. In this is the eggs of Chironomids which very soon (within 48 hours) turn into small blood worms, then into the mature buzzer and finally a magnificent chironomid. It's great fun to do and set up!
