Why? Penny only existed to get killed. That is her character. No real motives or anything like that. We almost don't even get to know her before she 'died' (She's only not here anymore, because Atlas is too lazy to rebuild her :/)

I love velvet in this scene, or course, but the fact that weiss stepped in will always be the best part to me. She was already running without any sort of plan. She didn't know she could summon yet, shown by how she was surprised to see the glyph behind her. And she had no idea it would work. She still raised her sword to try and block the attack, even if that would have been ineffective. She was shocked to see she didn't get hit, but like, thats her whole arc with learning to summon. She had to be selfless. She was only trying to summon something to prove a point before, and for herself. The moment she does it to protect someone else, it works
This was pretty awesome, mate. The sounds you put in are so much meatier and "real world" sounding. It gives the scene an entirely new feel. Good show! :D
So many people are wondering as to the durability of the projection weapon’s Velvet’s camera makes from Hard Light Dust. Well according to the RWBY wiki, they last around 6 hits apiece. So roughly speaking, she dealt at least between 1 and 4 blows per weapon projection. As for the beam, well when Penny did it, it wasn’t her semblance more so the Floating Array’s heavy ranged attack, which since it was a part of the array, meant that Velvet could copy it, probably at the cost of all remaining uses of the Array projection and her camera’s Hard Light Dust supply. It’s also worthy to mention that Velvet’s Camera, uses a ridiculous amount of Hard Light Dust. Which may be why Coco wanted her to save it till this fight. I’m open to anyone’s thoughts on this.

Her weapon is the light weapon copys her sembalance allows her to copy the weilders fighting style but she can not copy another persons sembalance therefore any attacks using the sembalance she can't do.
Wild theory: What if Velvet is (or was) a part of the white fang? 1) She's a Faunus 2) She's pretty lowkey the whole season 3) She has to take a picture of everyone's abilities to obtain them, so how did she get Penny's charged lazer attack? Penny only used that attack once to take down the aircraft carriers trying to take away dust at that one dock. (Sun as well?) So does that mean Velvet was there secretly watching them?
And little did they know the true villain of the series was at play from the beginning: Velvet. Think about it: She can copy the weapons, fighting styles, Semblances and powers of anyone she wants, even dead people, pro hunters, and even the villains. That means she could even copy Maiden powers, Salem’s powers or even Ozpin himself! Can you imagine the power someone would have with THAT much power? Salem and the Grimm would just be a passing thought compared to this evil who can essentially steal your powers and use them against you.

Nah those weapons are only usable for a bit before they shatter so she'd most likely be set up with a system that lets her use her specials once per match. Probably a character that rewards smart setups and character knowledge despite a struggling neutral/base kit.
These machines can very easily be slashed in half like nothing. Which makes me question if they're even meant to 'keep the peace.' I don't think they'll be able to handle anymore than a few grimm at their rate, if even. They can't even withstand attacks from older students training to be huntsmen.
A cool thing I noticed about this fight scene is that velvet does a pose when using each of team RWBY’S weapon that they all did in the red, white, black and yellow trailers

Nah those weapons are only usable for a bit before they shatter so she'd most likely be set up with a system that lets her use her specials once per match. Probably a character that rewards smart setups and character knowledge despite a struggling neutral/base kit.

These machines can very easily be slashed in half like nothing. Which makes me question if they're even meant to 'keep the peace.' I don't think they'll be able to handle anymore than a few grimm at their rate, if even. They can't even withstand attacks from older students training to be huntsmen.

I love Velvet's weapon idea but all it would take is her to be like "ya know i dont like being a good person i wanna be evil" and she literally has everyone's weapon and technique that she has taken a photo of, she would've made for a really awesome plot twist villan.
ZennyBot she can only use someone's weapon one time for a short period of time and then it gets deleted.
