I remember ATEEZ once said, what important is how long they keep their 'rookie' mind to their career. With rookie mind means they keep want to learning how to improve their skills. Being humble and thankful with whoever working with you. Hence that's why after 5 years they still learning - they learn English so hard (you can see how confident and good San with English lately), Jongho take vocal lesson when he hiatus and after week 1 Coachella, members went to other artists Coachella stage to learn more about performance, etc.
They never stop learning and improve themselves.

Let me tell you something, a fun fact if you will, Mr. Choi Jongho of ATEEZ, after his performances in COACHELLA in Weekend 1, went straight to his vocal lesson, he told us Atinys through SNS that he needs to improve as an artist. I am not sure if that was the case for Weekend 2, although he does take vocal lessons consistently whenever he is in LA. Our humble and kind kings! Besides that, a great artist always find room for more improvement, it is what that makes them great in the first place! I don't know if the girlies do not accept to improve themselves, then I guess, their fans will start moving away.

ATEEZ is sooooooooooo good like MONSTER BEASTTTT!!!!!!! Nobody can match up to Ateez and I think it helps that they are used to dancing their life depends on it. They were told because they are from a small company that their performance can be their last. They were taught to be disposable and can be cancelled at any time. So they have a lot of hunger when they perform. They just got used to dancing like it’s their rent, mortgage, bills and groceries are due. These other groups from big4 are factory made performance. They do a good job but their hunger isn’t there like Ateez has! So so so proud of Ateez and the whole world can finally witness their talent! They are top tier and NOBODY comes close!!!!!

I don't remember where I saw it, but Ateez was asked how they could sing while doing such vigorous choreo and they stated that how they sing while performing live is different. They have to breath differently than if they were standing still and singing. You can tell that Ateez has a backing track for the times that the members will take a break in the line so that they can breath for the next set of lines. So, as you said, artists have to adjust while they are performing LIVE.

I am so very proud of Ateez. They really left everything out there on the stage at Coachella. The members lives afterwards were full of tears, smiles, and gratitude. And 24 bobby pins…
La Sserafim is not a group I really know, but I watched a bit of their show to see what the fuss was about and I didn’t think the parts I watched was as awful as it was made out to be. There were definitely some mix issues along with the off vocals which compounded the issues. I don’t know… I just get sad about how hard everyone has been on them. It has gone beyond criticism out in the social spaces.
Ateez somehow always gets caught up in something when they do something well. I remember KCon LA 2022. Everyone got 30 mins. Ateez was the opener and managed to do 8 songs in that time. They even sped up the timing on Guerrilla (which is already grueling choreo) to fit everything in. Other groups did 3-5 songs in their 30 mins… which is great… they did other fun stuff besides their songs and their companies made their agreements beforehand on the setlists just like Ateez. It was funny to see the split in social media. Soooo many posts about how Ateez was shown favoritism. BUT there were other fandoms coming to their defense, too. It was interesting to see as someone that generally doesn’t get caught up in the crazy crap. So many new Atiny were made that night. 😊
I won’t even go into the Kingdom fanwar insanity. I am glad I was new to Ateez and didn’t see it at the time.

from my experience these days most talented idols come from small-medium sized companies as they don't have the privilege or enough financial support so the only thing they can show to the industry is their passion and their talents (there's still a lot of talented idols from big companies like sm-jyp-yg)

Xiumin of EXO once said that : in kpop dance is important and stage presence is also important but the most important thing is singing cause even if ur dancing skills are topnotch as an idol u won’t look talented if u can’t sing , personally I totally agree he was telling this to a junior idol to him and I see it as an advice for the next generations of kpop because they are the ones actually responsible for their vocal lessons for example seungmin from stray kids took vocal lessons with the same vocal coach of Baekhyun from EXO and he paid for it I believe and I see the improvement he did improve a lot since then.

Ateez ATE the stage. They really did a great job and finally got at least a 1% of the attention they deserve. They are such good performers, singers, dancers and what's more important, they're amazingly humble and kind people. After 6 years of their debut they still continue learning how to improve their skills, and they are becoming even better artists after each comeback. I really do love them, and I wish the best for them.
Lesserafim on the other hand could have done it better, but I wouldn't really consider it a total disaster. As you said, they performed really well and their coreographies were well danced, but their lacked on the vocals. What's more, if you compare it to Ateez's performance the difference is quite clear. However it could have been worse.
Ateez's case is particular, 'cause normally idols aren't that stable while dancing that hard (I really don't know how they can even stand after being dancing for 45 minutes straight), but that doesn't mean that Lesserafim shouldn't pay attention to their vocals on stage.
Idols are SINGERS, and they must be able to repeat what they had recorded on the studio; and if it's not like that, something is being done wrong. We all agree that if they want to maintain their popularity and fanbase, they have to have some kind of lessons to learn to sing while performing, but it's not fair for them to receive all the hate they're receiving because of Coachella.

I hope LSF takes a break for 1 year and focus mainly on vocal training and come back as decent singers. That will be the best thing to shut up the haters. If they don't show improvement on their next comebacks they will face another wave of criticisms and hate train. At that point they will be the punching bag of k-pop.

I don't think it's the right place to comment this lol but imma do it anyways. I don't know if y'all will notice but there's a k-band called xdinary heroes!! I like to describe their genre as pop punk rock. Too polished to be punk rock, too unconventional to be pop rock and too hard to be pop punk. They're like a three way hybrid. But their vocals are what really got me interested in them. I've found them recently (only been a year) and they definitely deserve more recognition! Some song recommendations: pirates(live), strawberry cake, freakin bad, happy death day (their debut song), good enough (a slow one), test me, Pluto, Man in a box, break the brake and many more! Also they have done some amazing covers like impossible by nothing but thieves, drown by bring me the horizon, tomboy by g-idle, love me right by exo, zombie by day6, hellavator by skz etc. They're having a comeback on 30th April! It'll be cool if y'all can check them out! 🩷

Smaller companies seem to have more determined and ambitious idol these days. I like LS, but their live vocals are definitely lacking and they all knew that before sending them to Coachella. I agree that this was a big mistake on Hybe and that hopefully it's a wake up call for them to train their ggs better. Ateez on the other hand has been able to have great vocals live since debut. Their company may be small, but from the start they trained them properly because they knew it was the only way for their small group to survive with so many other groups who had more advantages being from bigger companies. Ateez are simply more hungry for success and always work on improving themselves. They want to learn and have a strong desire to improve consistently. Even after their successful performance they are taking lessons and doing things to improve their skills. These groups from bigger companies are more comfortable and not as passionate imo. Like another comment said, if KQ ever debuts a gg it's gonna be a monster group because they will be trained well and taught to be passionate and determined to improve themselves. I still think LS can one day redeem themselves and put this behind them.❤

I agree, LSF have so much potential, it’s just their singing 😭 some of the members seemed to have been straining their voices and not only was it somewhat graining but it’s also damaging for their vocal chords, I REALLY REALLY hope they get new vocal teachers and focus more on their singing. It could really help the group and their publicity which I think could help further their success and audience. Also this blind worshipping of their vocal performances and as well as the excessive bullying (not the constructive criticism they could’ve gotten from this) I feel just proves why Kpop Stans (and the genre) aren’t taken seriously which saddens me bcs there are other groups that do deliver it all and the previous groups from the generations before didn’t work hard into giving Kpop the whole standard triple threat thing it’s known for JUST for all of this to happen . I can’t help but to also blame the team managing them as well. Anyways, thanks for being one of the few voices of reason within this discord 💀 Ateez gave me CHILLS with their passion and presence, I thought they outdid themselves in Week 1 but Week 2 somehow managed to top that omg. They made me so proud

Majority of artists had a lot of technical issues during week 1 and the fact that Le sserafim showed completely raw vocals was incredible. Sure they may not have sounded the best all the time but they still did a great job. Everyone that was there in person to see them said they loved them and that they enjoyed the performance. In week 2 they sounded a lot better and yes they had a backtrack but you could obviously hear them singing even with it most of the time. I think this "le sserafim can't sing" is getting too far when they showed multiple times that they can. I think their company just needs to give them songs within their vocal range but I still applaud them for experimenting and doing their best regardless.

I haven’t heard of New Jeans having live vocal issues. Also as someone who listens to Kpop 90% of the time, it’s not about the companies but individual groups having issues. It’s all about vocal discipline and strengthening those vocal cords.
These girl group you’re complaining about don’t have the experience because they’re technically rookies and debuted when they weren’t able to do concerts and festivals. It take time and experience to build up to amazing live performances.
Example is Jimin (Bts) had weak vocals in the beginning but he continued to improve over time and actually took vocal lessons after debut to where his vocals are as stable and balanced as Jungkook.
Baekhyun from Exo is one of the most stable and strong vocalists but he still takes vocal lessons.
It’s all about the vocal training after debut.

Sure, it sounded better, but it appears like that's because they turned up their backing track and also because the UA-cam livestream audio signal had more prominent backing vocals on week 2 as well.
At the first performance they also sounded much better for the live audience in comparison to all us watching the livestream because the backing vocal (in other words the studio vocals) was turned up much higher for the real-life audience in comparison to the UA-cam livestream version.
This was also rectified on the week 2 livestream, where the backing vocals had been turned up to match what the real-life audience was hearing.

In meantime you are not posting anything you should react to IVE ( a girl group under STARSHIP) they are making their comeback on 2024.04.29 with their 2nd ep IVE SWITCH ( and for some brief about members 2 member of IVE:- JANGWONYOUNG and ANYUJIN are in a girl group project IZ*ONE along with LE SSERAFIM SAKURA and CHAEWON, OVE Japanese member REI and Korean member GAEUL are rapper but also have very good vocal abilities and OTHER two members LIz is one of the best vocalist in 4th gen groups and the youngest one LEESEO can sing, rap and dance so we DIVES( IVE fandom) call her makneace ( makne means the youngest and you know what ace means)
IVE have one of the best discography among 4th gen groups.
And as for JANGWONYOUNG Korean called her an idol in 1000years, she one of the best visual, a very capable songwriter, a good vocalist.
IVE made their official debut on 2021.12.01 with their 1st single ELEVEN with the title track of same name including a b-side take it, achieving commercial success and topping the charts IVE become one of the most promising 4th gen group with no flop what's so ever, their 2nd song LOVE DIVE is turning point of their career cause with the title track LOVE DIVE they collected all SONG OF THE YEAR award in 2022 and with their 3rd single AFTER LIKE IVE topped the charts and leave every bigger girl group behind and become biggest girl group in Korea in 2022, their 1st album I'VE IVE a 2 title track album with 11 song ( i legit can say that it's a no skip album) both the pre release single KITSCH and I AM topped every charts and make them only group among 4th gen to have 3 PAKs ( PAK stands for perfect all kill, which means when a group is no 1 on every chart on daily and weekly chart) their 1st EP I'VE MINE with 3 title track EITHER WAY show the emotional side of members and OFF THE RECORD is easily the one of the song or i can say masterpiece STARSHIP has created with the lead title track BADDIE they join TWICE as only group to have 4 paks 8n girl group history.

i feel like ur just echoing viral tweets on twitter rather than giving your own professional opinion. unless, that's not what you're trying to do. i say this as an atiny, not a fearnot, lessera did not do as terrible as the trolls have said. its just as simple as that. i didn't watch their entire set, but many of the songs by themselves, and many were nearly or perfect.

People rlly blow the le sserafim thing out of proportion. Maybe it’s just bc they’re so successful rn but I will never be convinced that the first weekend performance was bad. People can cut 2 seconds clips and edit them all together as much as they want because that doesn't encapsulate the real performance. It’s obvious ppl are using Coachella to fuel their already existing hate for le sserafim.

  • @hafsah_alee

You’re giving half and half of what actually happened
Sakura said it was their best performance yes, but she meant that in terms of them singing with no backtrack,100% live with their heavy choreo and at the end of the letter she said they’ll try their best to improve as a team. Ppl keep acting like what she said was arrogant when she’s just defending her team from the hate they were getting
Plus lesserafim performance wasn’t that bad , you’re dismissing the whole thing , their hard work and improvements
No hate but ateez had backtrack and some vocal smoothing which lesserafim didn’t have in week 1. And these are very normal for live performances because that’s what make them more enjoyable. Ngl I enjoyed week 1 lesserafim
Yes they need to Improve but you need to realize they aren’t really good singers in the first place(I don’t know why the company keeps giving them part where it not in their vocal range😩), they are more of performers
And believe it or not K-pop focuses more on stage presence and dance than singing (but these days ppl are looking for singers, when singing is not commonly practiced in award shows and music shows)
And also festivals don’t sound perfect, they aren’t going to be like the studio version, there’s heavy breathing, voice cracks and so on . Ppl need to realize that it’s normal , because that can encourage ppl to actually start singing 100%live
Kpop is usually ar or backtrack
And if it’s actually live then there’s vocal smoothing

      @Slow_Internet Місяць тому +11

Even with their backtracks, you could hear their live vocals. Saying that they had vocal smoothing is shady. If you know anything about them, you would know that they always sing because they suck at lip syncing. And you can even tell when a member stops singing to breathe. There was even a show created that completely focuses on live vocals that was created because of Ateez.
You’re trying to defend Le Sserafim, but minimizing how well Ateez actually did won’t do you any favors in convincing anyone.

ateez’ backtrack wasn’t even that loud, you could hear seonghwa scream even without his mic bffr - vocal smoothing?? the only thing they had was vocal training instead of whining about company giving lsf songs that they have to sing in, maybe it’s time they went to a vocal coach

It's way too harsh to say Lesserafim are straight up bad singers okay, I mean one of them is literally a trained opera singer. The issue is that all of their songs are sung in a very low range, just think about the chorus for Fearless and Easy they're practically just talking. Pair that with super hard choreo and absolutely no backing track, it's gonna be a disaster. And of course Ateez did better than them because they're nearly 5 years their senior and a lot of their songs include shouting rapping screaming and chanting, when Jongho hits his notes he's usually standing still. Lesserafim haven't even done a world tour. This is entirely HYBE's fault for not adjusting the choreo and putting them up there on week 1 with basically 0 backtrack. It makes people who are so used to edited compressed smoothed out vocals shocked because that's actually what singing and dancing at the same time sounds like. Even SM groups have edited vocals (and also that companies' choreo is a walk in the park compared to HYBE groups) the issue is HYBE prioritizes performance skills over vocal skills, and you can't say that HYBE groups can't sing because that's just a slap in the face to groups like BTS Seventeen and New Jeans.

Yunjin is not a trained opera singer. She just performed at a high school musical theatre and mimics the way an opera singer sings. She may sound good for an average person but for opera standards she is far from good. Her singing ability is no where near a true trained opera singer.

I am sorry, but Ateez would have devoured the stage even two years after debut. they were not called monster rookies for nothing. and just looking at kqs newer group xikers, who have debuted only one year ago, they are killing it with the vocals while dancing to heavy choreography, too.
