It's purposefully made to fit a retro theme coz fly high is a prequel to chase me. That's exactly why u couldn't find the connection coz good night is the 3rd part where they finally escape the mansion into the wilderness but it all started with fly high.
It explains the story of what happened with the girls as they turned out to be nightmares.
Good night instrumental is crazy good. It's very apt to describe an anime fight scene
Fly high is the prequel, so the origin, how they became cursed. Chase Me and Goodnight are the follow up, story wise, and shows a ghost hunter/nightmare hunter who ends up getting trapped in the mirror, while the Dreamcatcher girls are free.

Good Night is one of their heavier releases, and I love it. The K-Rock girl group Rolling Quartz also did an excellent cover of it. The Nightmare hunter casts spells to trap the members, but they get the book from him and turn it against him, trapping him behind the mirror.
The next song in the Nightmare arc, "Fly High", is from the album "Prequel", which is a strong hint to consider. 😉
"Fly High" is probably the poppiest of the Nightmare arc. It was not done by their usual production team as well. But it makes sense, since this is a prequel, so bringing in a bit of the Minx sound makes sense to me. There are really heavy parts in it as well, which clearly state that they are not Minx anymore. And I love the dark parts thrown in, they really make the song special. The light part sung by SuA after the metal break is in major, while the rest of the song is in minor. That is why it stands out so much. They did the same in Good Night, but a lot shorter.
About the MV: You can see Yoohyeon burning the spider, which brought the curse of the spider queen down on the members. You will see the spider queen again in You and I. In Native American mythology, spiders are considered protectors, that is why a Dreamcatcher resembles a spider's net. That is a brilliant connection to their name! 😊
I don't think the soft parts resembles Minx in any way. Minx was way more bubbly and cute than Fly High. But I get what you are trying to say. ❤
Story wise, Fly High is a prequel to both Chase Me and Goodnight. It was released nearly a year later and it shows us what happened to the girls before they ended up as Wraiths. So the retro element is intentional, plus in 2018, there was a big retro sound in all of K-Pop.
The story/lore in the Nightmare Series goes like this: the young witches in boarding School of Witchcraft captured a little spider. Slowly however, they were being corrupted by the evil Spider Queen. So at one point, having been turned to evil, Yoohyeon kills the spider. The Spider Queen gets angry and curses them to become Wraiths, haunting people's dreams, called Nightmares. In the last scene, JiU closes the gate before she is turned, and casts a spell to trap the Wraiths inside.
Time passes and the school becomes a Hotel, haunted by the Nighmares trapped inside. However, when a Ghost Hunter comes in Chase Me, he finds a Grimoire inside Room 808. With the powerful spells in it, he can capture them. However, the remaining Wraiths steal the book, reverse the spells and capture him inside the mirror. Then the witches reverse the curse and turn back into humans. In the final scene, they escape through the woods, but they accidentally drop the Grimoire. The story continues in You and I.

As others have said, Fly High is a prequel to Chase Me, but in my mind, it also acts as a bridge between Minx and Dreamcatcher. Minx was a bubbly K-pop group who were bright and cheerful, which is how Fly High starts. But as the song progresses you get these stabs of heavier instruments and dark imagery as the girls fall to the curse, culminating in the final line "I'm Trapped in the Nightmare", which is when they fully become Dreamcatcher.

Fly High was filmed in a chateau in France! Originally I wasn’t all that taken with Fly High but over time it’s really shot up there to one of my favourite title tracks. Even though it sounds cheerier on the surface than other songs, when you listen to it in context of the Nightmare story/theories, it suddenly becomes even more poignant and darker. The previews for it were soooo creepy. I love that we got to really hear how beautiful their vocals are 😊
Good Night is also one of my other favourites! It’s still hits so hard.

The story goes like in fly high the mansion and the woods nearby have a strong negative presence that influence the girls making them malevolent and they find a book of spells and unknowingly give into the dark arts. The story takes a wild turn when jiu captures the spider n Yoohyeon burns it with a magnifying lens. The spider queen(as per lore) curses them n they get trapped in the nightmare n each of their nightmares were etched in that book the guy was goin through in good night. In good night they got hold of the book n they burned the pages depicting their nightmares freeing themselves from the nightmare they were trapped in (for the time being at least). It's gonna take one more interesting turn in the next song in the series You n I.
