This is great! Thanks for reminding me of how to get around my Kurzweil K series! I love my Kurzweil K2#00! -- I wish the interface was better, but it's a great synth!
I own a Kurzweil K2000 since release and it sits here under a cover, not being touched much. I always wanted to sound design on it and never got around to it, now with your videos and the knowledge I gathered from other synths I hope to do this finally. Could you make sure you normalize your audio so the videos are about as loud as others? Thanks for your effort of keeping V.A.S.T. alive!
Thanks! A quick question. In this example, why did you choose to duplicate the layer instead of simply adding a saw + on the third empty box? If you're not going to choose a different filter or envelope settings for the other layer, than it makes sense to have both oscillators going thru the same filter which is being controlled by the same envelope so that any change you apply would affect the entire sound
Yes could have done that but wanted to show layer duplication. However you are right that it would simplify having one filter settings (I believe on K2600 and after you can either link or have global filter). Duplicating also allows you to choose a slightly different wave form sample to add a bit of variety though (there are 3 variations of each main waveform)
I had this as my main keyboard for many years. I had 2 expanded ones and and one W5. Suprisingly usable and almost never heard of.
Thanks for the kind comment. Yes will try to do more frequent ones. Will probably cover the Shaper and Sync DSPs next.
yesss. would love to see these videos
Very useful. Please do more videos about VAST

Thanks for the tutorial. Can you show how to can create a lush synth pad?
Great video. Thanks!

What the difference if you just will not choose the SAW in Algorithm, and just use it as Saw from scratch?
The saw of algorithm is mathematically calculated whereas the saw from layer is a sample.
Man, I hear some noises crackling when you push on the sound in 15+- minutes, is it from synth?
could be some dodgy cables! :-)
Good video, but your voice is too quiet. I have to turn the clip volume way up - and then remember to turn it back down
It is easier to just read the manual.
