As a dog trainer, this video is 100% spot on. This is such a a great resource video for new pet owners. A lot of times when people find information on the internet, it gives misinformation but you made a great video! You must have had a great trainer, glad to see it. Don’t feel bad about your mistakes in the past, every pet parent makes mistakes, you are doing great with Willow
Also tip for the food aggression, feed her only with your hand. Until she realize that she can’t be Possessive with her food that you’re the only that can give her that food
Good idea but nothing ever worked for my dog. She was food aggressive since we first got her and no one has ever taken her food. 11 years old now and still has it. I had my toddlers drop treats into her bowl as she ate to prevent her from biting them. It worked the couple of times they got to her eating before me, but she still growls. She's a beagle though. Not sure I can handle the food aggression again. Might not be getting another dog 😞
I have had 4 corgis and haven’t had food aggression from a bowl but I had one corgi who growled when you took her rawhide bone from her. My solution was no more of those. I always heard that you can put your fingers in the bowls while they eat (as puppies) just to get them comfortable with you being around their food and eating.
I’m so glad that we potty trained our corgi without potty pads. He’s pretty much potty trained now! Hes 6 months old now and he’s gotten better at puppy biting but still does it & he seems like a reactive dog which we’re trying to work on. We also have a play pen with a crate inside and don’t put him in the crate when we leave, just the play pen. I didn’t realize that we need to train him for the crate, I want him to have more space lol. Thanks for these tips 💕
watching this vid I can say comfortably that this isn't just specific to corgi puppies but really are good tips for all puppies. Especially for people who never had a puppy before. My first dog was a very sleepy Yorkshire Terrier who was with me for 17 wonderful years. I learned A LOT by having him. Your first dog is like your first child- you'll always make mistakes that you know to do better with the next one. My corgi puppy benefited from all the experience I had from my yorkshire (including, yes, that it is normal to puke for dogs every now n then. especially that foamy stuff they puke up around once a month to clean their stomach XD (often after eating grass specifically for that very reason)) I am really glad that people share their experiences with their dogs so detailed and freely because it helps new dog parents a lot :)
I love the video so far! One minor thing to note that hit me hard. Puppies can apparently hold their bladder for 1hour for every month old. Seems static...but when I adopted mine at 8 1/2 weeks I could practically set a timer to it. Every 2 hours he had to go and if I walked him at that interval he went QUICKLY.
This is a wonderful video and super informative! This is definitely not meant to scare anyone, but to spread awareness. We had a puppy 15 years ago that happened to fall in your category of swallowing a rock after we followed the advice of ignoring it. We had to bring him to have emergency surgery, and unfortunately, he didn't make it. It was extremely heartbeaking and I blamed myself for an extremely long time. I would be someone to argue to never let your puppy chew on rocks, etc. because of what happened to us. Even if it's an extremely rare chance.
My daughter just brought home a 7week old female Pembroke Corgi/Aussie Shepard/Blue Heeler. This is an excellent video and I bet my daughter has already watched it because she is training me how to be with her puppy.
I have a almost 6 month old corgi. Her name is sourdough (and obviously corgi bread dog name) and this videos helped so much! But a little tip, if your corgi is a lot older and still pees on the grass pad, go to your local pet co or pet store and the should have a potty spray, the spray is used if your dog is peeing in a spot that they shouldn’t be going potty in. You spray it in the spot were you want them to go potty and they should go. Eventually they will get used to it
Cute video. Great insight. I always tell folks who are looking, "The hair is Real!". I have had 5 Corgis now & have worked with horses and other live stalk for years so have had them around in that regard as well as a more of a house type dog. My current Pembroke Corgi is "Lili"; a female red headed Tri. I am currently dying from a rare illness, which has progressed over the years and is shutting down my autonomic nervous system. This last year has been rough, however I have the love and the devotion of little Lili by my side. I could make a video myself demonstrating the love, intelligence, patience and faithfulness of this little girl. When the time is right I have a perfect forever home chosen for her. I have over the years worked with many breeds and hands down if you get their respect, understand their nature and are firm and patiently loving, _they are stubborn cuties,_ Corgis are just simply the best! ♥ Btw the bleeps at the beginning of this video almost made me turn the video off. Very annoying and takes away from your hard work.
The way I taught my dogs not to be aggressive with food was by putting my hand inside their mouth as they're eating. I still do it sometimes now that they're adults and they just look at me like "are you done 🙄" 😂😂 Wouldn't recommend this with an older rescue though! Only puppies. Maybe put your hand on their food first, or even let them eat from your hand so they know what's edible and what's a finger. Some people take the plate or some food from them for a few seconds, but personally I don't have the heart 😅
We have had a senior rescue for 4 years and we are still struggling to teach him the difference between fingers and food :D so it is good that you mention, not to do it with rescues. Covering the food with my palm works quite well but feeding him from the hands just doesn’t work unless it’s from the Palm.
@@sararoeth I think that might be good enough! As long as he doesn't get angry when you're near him eating :) I know some strays* that eat from my fingers but they're not used to being fed like that and they look like they wonder when I'll drop the food to the ground 😅 it took some time but they don't bite and if they confuse my finger with food they let go when they notice I'm not letting go lol * they're strays but they live in a factory and the people treat them more like wild dogs, they feed them and pet them, and the doggies have their own beds, but they don't have a human
Thank you for sharing and being so honest! This is great information to know for someone who is planning on becoming a first time-dog owner! Not even specifically to a Corgi…although I am interested in this breed 😊
CORGIS FOR LIFE. I had a corgi for 15 years...I don't know if he's still alive or not since I had to unfortunately 'give' him away due to a relative that was bad, but I am satisfied the animal had a good life while he was in my hands.
I hope to get a corgi puppy this year, it'll be the first dog that I've owned as an adult so I'm nervous about doing everything right. Your video has a lot of good information 😊
Fantastic video. My Corgi has done well as she was crate trained from the beeder as a puppy. I never used a puppy pad as we live in the country, but everything you are saying is so helpful. We crated her when we went out and she felt safe. We love our Corgi so much and would definitely crate her when little, now at 3 she is left in the house when we're gone and she's well mannered. Really appreciate your video. It's the best I've seen on Corgis.
I'm glad to hear all of that about her being comfortable in her crate! I regret so much not crate training Willo from the beginning. I am so glad you appreciated this video! Makes me so happy to hear :)
Omfg. I recently adopted a 2 month old Corgi and this Video is gold. You literally addressed all the main issues I had with my pup during my first weeks. Guys it's no joke. This video is GOLD!!!
Great advice ! I have a Corgi who is a year old. He eats mulch, rocks and anything else. I found that ignoring him is the best policy. A little too aggressive for me or sassy as you say. I’ll have to buy new socks. I’ve taught him to stay out of the garage which I use as a wood shop. Concerned about the noise, dust and him ingesting something. He stays at the doorway and watches me. He loves people who visit. Love my Corgi
I was Very Proud Corgi Mama!!! My Daisy May had tummy cancer 3 yrs this October! She is my soul mate and Best Friend . My whole room is now a Daisy May shrine.
Omgggg I rescued karma and she was trained when daddy and I received her but although she was trained a lot of things she was abused so I'm happy about some of the training (sit, stay, potty trained, kiss, who's that,up,outside) she is really messed up in other ways God bless the rescue moms and dads
Wow, what an incredible resource! Thanks so much! I’m getting not just my first Corgi, but actually my first dog ever, in two weeks and I’m super nervous! I’ve always had cats & I know dogs are very different. This was tremendously helpful. Thanks again! 🙏🧡
Such an excellent video for any new dog owner. If the dog keep chewing inappropriate things on walks, you can teach it to walk while holding an object in their mouth. It helps with that, with barking while meeting other dogs or people, etc. Of course that has to be trained and reinforced just like any other desired behaviour. A very fun and rewarding activity for the dog is ´free shaping training’. It builds you dog problem solving abilities. Fitness training is another great activity that you can do in the house when the weather is bad. You can use everyday items from your house or specialized equipment. It is just like teaching tricks. They get lots of treats and they love it. I would say that it would be extremely beneficial to dogs with long backs like Corgis. It could help prevent back injuries in the long run. I am training my friend’s Corgi to do agility. He absolutely loves it. Any dog sport allows you to deepen your bond with your dog and as a bonus, you and your doggy get to meet great people and dogs. Thanks for very instructional video.
Wow this is a really well put together video. its detailed, but not boring. Covers a ton of topics and has great information for any puppy owner really.I’m surprised this doesn’t have millions of views. Awesome job!
I bred and showed Shar=pei for over 20 years. Everything you said is 100% for all dogs. I dont have any Pei's keft, so it is a new bred for me. Getting a Corgi next week. Very different from Shar-pei in temperment and activity level. But on some level they are dogs and all need a good foundation. Thanks for the video.
Ad soon as my pup was fully vaccinated I took him to my friends house who has 3 dogs one was about the same age as mine. I'm so glad I did that when he was young. He's never aggressive toward dogs now.
I have an almost 8 month old Corgi. She is tiny compared to your Willow. I also have two Cattle dogs, one blue and one red. This is a great trio. But I loved your video. I , personally, have had great success starting out a corgi in a crate relative to their size. Not large. Something that they can turn around easy in for potty training. The more room they have , the more they think they can pee "off" their bedding , for lack of better phrase. In my experience, with Heelers/ Cattle dogs , my Corgi didn't train as quickly as my Red and Blue, in the house breaking area. Patience is a virtue. She is great now at 7 months. My heelers were trained at 12 weeks. Just know your breeds. But knowing this breed is just as intelligent as a Heeler, I have a feeling her set back was with the breeder, as they kept her on puppy pads a long time and not exposed as much to the outside. I absolutely loved your advice on the nail trimming and teeth brushing. I've already implemented it in my daily routine, for my 3 herding dogs. We all wish we knew then, what we know now. You are obviously, a great Dog Momma. Thanks for all the great content. Your Corgi sploot is adorable I can' t get over how tiny, but fierce my Brida is. She lives up to her name lol. Thanks and keep it coming
If you teach them about Crate training early on, they will love their crate. We have Crate trained every dog we have, Wall-E goes into his crate at bed time sleeps there and plays there while I am sleeping. He doesn't whine or howl unless he has to go to the bathroom. A puppy is a puppy until about 2 years old, and then they get free reign only if they are fully potty trained. This is my first Corgi, but we have 4 dogs, 2 GSDs, a Rat Terrier, and a Cocker. I got Wall-E after my Sarge died about 3 months later, I didn't want to replace Sarge but needed a PTS dog.
I made a lot of mistakes with Rory. Willow is so well-behaved! We all learn, especially the socialization part! Rory is kind of a nervous nellie around people. I would have taken him into the office every day and passed him around the staff if I could do it again (and absolutely will with the next one!).
I am dogsitting my good friend's corgi while they are away in a trip for the next couple of weeks. I was not warned that this dog (around 3 years) old was not fully potty trained until the day she was dropped off at my house and her owner (my friend) brought "wee wee pads" with her, saying she may need them at night. BC I didn't want to cause a problem with my friend going on her trip, I didn't really say anything but knew I would not be using those. The corgi is demonstrably capable of holding her bladder for stretched of time, such as over night when I put her in her crate to sleep. The problem is, her owner has inadvertently taught her it's sort of OK to go in the house sometimes. I can understand why she would think that (I can go when there's that white square down). While she's been with me (5 days now), she had had a few "accidents", most of them in the first two days. So far today, day five, no eliminating in thr house! It can be done but it takes a lot of vigilance and a lot of walkies. Aside from the inappropriate elimination, she's a doll!! 😍
Thank You for this video!!! I can definitely relate to everything you mentioned. It helps to know what to do better in the future when I do get another Corgi puppy.
A little add on to the socialization point: Talk to your vet about how prominent Parvo is in your area. If it is uncommon, do NOT WAIT until all of the vaccinations are done because you are missing out on the most critical socialization developmental period of your puppy (lasts until 14-16 weeks). They should arrive at your place at 8 weeks earliest and already had their first round of shots. If you want to be sure, wait until the second round which is the most important. Not socializing the puppy puts them at a higher risk to have behavioral issues and being put down than catching Parvo (statistically speaking). Simpawtico dog training elaborates on that with vets ☺️ Highly recommend his videos!
You probably don’t want tips but with the patio potty thing, Everytime they do it on your patio splash a load of water over it because they sniff where they pee and then pee/poop there again.
Power to the corgis, they are very smart and can be trained with praise instead of treats as they are eager to please. They need lots of activity since they are a working class dog and really smart. Wonderful companions.
Our corgi is almost 6 months old. I’ve been working with her since we got her at 8 weeks. She is getting better but she has such a terrible stomach. We were told to stay away from chicken which is basically in everything. She refuses to eat some days then gets hangry. I’m at a complete loss of what to do with her but we love her very much. I need to do wait commands and I started place but our other dog peed on her place and it hasn’t been washed yet 😂😂 She doesn’t trust the other dogs around her food. We are working on that. But her playpen is her safe place and that’s when her most protective tendencies come out so the playpen can backfire on you also. It feels like I can’t win for losing lol
I had two sisters. One has since passed. There was an amazing difference in their personalities. Lizzie was the more aggressive of the two while Maggie even today is very quiet. Her eye sight isn't too good any more at 13 years old. One eye is blind and the other has a little sight. It doesn't stop her though. She knows where her food dish is at 5:00 and the little treat pile. The pile sits there all day and she goes and gets a piece when the whim strikes. I break the NUDGES in 3 pieces. I get DOGS LOVE CHICKZEN at COSTCO and those get broken up too. A small piece of Jerky and a Greenie round it out. At bedtime I take her out and close up afterwards. She gets half a NUBS. The dogs had free rein during the day. I have a 1/2 acre for them to roam in. I put in a pet door and they go in and out when they please. Maggie would walk the perimeter of the fence several times a day and chase the chipmunks from the bird feeding area. If a delivery man comes she stays near by. I tell the guy to say, "Hello Maggie" and she goes away. She goes out on the leash once a day. These Corgis are the best dog I've ever owned. Intelligent and with sweet dispositions. There's some maintenance but not too much. The long hair around their butts needs trimming or it picks up poop. And they need to be brushed. Do it outside so the hair will float away on the wind. There's still shed hair in the house but not nearly as much if you don't. They like people. They follow us all around the house, inside and outside. and they'll jump in our laps without prompting. They ae playful and entertaining. It's hard to find better dogs than Corgis.
What cute sounds Willo makes! I just adopted an Auggie and haven't heard any barking or howling yet, so that will be fun to discover. Well, until it becomes incessant. 😉 I need to buy a dremel. I'm so tired of using clippers and dealing with those jagged edges, and the quick never really gets very short with clipping.
Well they should always be on a leash. Honestly my dog will still drag a leash around the house because I get lazy and don’t take them off. But as a puppy a leash is a good way to keep them close to you.
@@madirishgirl76 I do take the leash off. Sometimes when I get in the house I have other things to before I take the leash off. My dog doesn’t care one way or the other. Sometimes even having that leash on helps me to catch her when she is not listening.
Easy way to fix the potty patch issue would be to reintroduce the potty patch where willo likes to go now and slowly migrate it to the location desired. Mayb only moving it inches in a week. I’ve actually trained cats to use the toilet with this same method using the litterbox like the puppy pad
Hello from my pups Lollie and Gilbert :) They are my first pets and i watched a lot of youtube videos before i brought them home, so thank you for this kind of video, it helps a lot of fur parents , specially new ones :)
I'm pretty sure this is for all puppies not just corgis. I do have a corgi pup and he's thankfully a fast learner and he was potty trained in a week after getting him, he will put himself up in a crate for naps, and he's 5 months old and knows most of the basic commands. His issues are still the bitting (he's teething at the moment), the "come" command, and he's still trying to learn the basics of service dog training. One thing that I will note is before we got him he had a bed and toys ready for him and when we got him he immediately knew within 24 hours that that is his stuff and he will still lay in his bed when he's tired and all of his toys he'll drag them out of his basket and bring them into his bed and lay on them as if to say "these are mine and mine only" although if another animal tries to mess with them he doesn't care the only rule is you have to play with him now 😂.
🛑🛑 This was one of the Best Videos 😀👍. We just got our 8 week old Corgi, Lucy. 🐶 We have never had a Corgi, however the videos and content that you are supplying are Outstanding 👍💯. The question I had… Did Willow’s ears come up at the same time?? We currently have one ear up, and one ear down. 🤷♂️. Thanks so much for your content. As a New Subscriber I look forward to future Willow updates and tips. 💯
Good video. I've worked with animals for a long time so have a decent amont of puppy experience but this still did a good job of teaching and reinforcing what I already knew. I also like that you owned up to things that were your fault like the food aggression. 👍
I have had a lot of beloved corgen and dachshunds in my life. I know ! I must have a thing for short legs and stubborn characters. The advice in this video is really good and following it is the best gift you can give your puppy, which will last a lifetime. I would just add, that show any other family members what to do and why you do it. Impress on them how much safer and happy your dog will be when it knows it is following your pack rules and that they know they are ‘good dogs”. Make a hairdryer a good thing and not scary. Never try to do it quickly, let them gradually accept it my dogs are used to the drugstore battery operated toothbrush. I think it often more gentle than a regular tooth brush , no need to jab it back and forward in the mouth. Just put against the teeth and let the rotating brushes do the work. It takes time and never force it but it is worth it in the end. True you do have to use a firm voice on occasion, the voice is everything so when your puppy does the right thing give them lots of happy voice, So to Devon and Willow’s best friend…….great video.
Great advice for any puppy/ dog.Careful with the Dremel.- it gets hot from the friction of the emery sanding attachment against their nail, so keep checking it. So squishy girl your Willow💋
When I lived in an apartment and got my puppy, I trained him to go on a pad in front of the door. He got it into his head he was supposed to pee in front of doors, including car doors. It took a while to untrain him.
Another tip for the puppy biting. It is common in very young puppies. We have a tendency to get puppies as soon as the stop drinking mothers milk but they are not ready to be adopted and they tend to have behaviors that their mother and puppy mates would fix. It is good to let the puppies stay with their mother for at least 12 weeks. This allows the mother to not only nurse them but train them better. That way the puppies are ready to be adopted with better behaviors. They don't bite as much or at all. And they will be better adjusted as well. We do like our tiny adorable puppies, but we hate the difficult baby behaviors they have. Their puppy mates and mother help with that. If we don't mind. Breeders can also have the adopted families visit regularly during week 8 through 12. It helps them get adjusted to the family and get rid of undesirable behaviors..
My older corgi he is now 4 loves his crate lol idk how I did it but I started off with a puppy crate in my room. He goes in any crate w/o you asking. If it’s open he will go in when coming back from outside. He was fairly easy to train. Olive my 10 week old is giving me a run lol
One other thing I would add is that puppies go through fear periods while growing up. It is important to be aware of those. As much as possible, we want our puppies to have positive experiences so they do not develop excessive fears that they get stuck with for the rest of their lives. It is even more important, if at all possible, to make sure to avoid scary situations during those periods. If something bad happens, you need to desensitize them and it requires patience.
Thanks! This really helps a loooot. I have a 2 month old corgi now and sometimes I just couldn't handle his energy. Corgis are full of energy and due to their herding skills, my corgi Happy, likes to chase people around the house and nibbling our feet when we walk. My parents hate it when that happens. lol. Is Willow also like that when he was still a puppy? I really want to know. Thanks!
very good tips ,mine is 2yo and i had never cut his nails seems like he naturally grind them by walking him and scratching on the sidewalk and the ground.
My corgi ate 3 big rocks when I wasn't home and I only knew about it when he puked them right before I took him to the vet because he wasn't eating. Apparently corgis get bored really easily and start chewing on things. I had never had a dog eat a rock before and I was really surprised. So now I just don't have decorative rocks anymore because I don't want to hear the sound of the rocks hitting the floor when he puked them again 😭
May I ask where you got the 2 items for Willow I saw in this video? One was the treat holder I believe multi color and the other was a multi color plush toy.
Do you have tick & flea and heart worm medicine recommendations? Our last corgi developed seizures and we always suspected that the tick & flea meds caused them. Also curious what doggy food you recommend? He passed away recently but we are looking into getting another puppy in the near future and don’t ever want to go through all that again
The puppy bite made me think about how my dad read something about pretending to act like their bites really hurts (I mean, sometimes they are pretty hard bites!). We did this on my corgi and almost immediately he felt bad and would lick you. In retrospect, we were guilt tripping my dog 😭 But he doesn’t bite! So mission accomplished? We also crate trained my corgi, but he was crying like crazy. I googled how to make him stop crying and it said to have them nearby you to let them know you’re there if they needed something. Second day of having him, I moved him and his kennel to my room so I could be nearby to let him go potty or just to have someone. He only cried (which wasn’t often in and of itself, maybe like two cries) for two more nights before completely sleeping through. I think it was a good decision to put him in my room so soon with his kennel. Edit: We also used his crate for Time Outs. If he did something bad like hurt his older brother or just being a jerk and not listening, he’d be put in his kennel for time out (no more than 15 minutes I think, depending on his crimes). I’d also give him an equivalent to a “scolding” like “You were being a bad boy! We don’t like bad boys! You have to be nice.” acting like he understood me 😂Weirdly enough, he still loved his kennel and would actively go into it to rest or chew on toys/treats.
corgi question: ours has developed a nasty habit out of barking at us while we eat. the drill usually goes that we feed her the same time we're done making dinner. but she usually finishes before we do and then will proceed to walk over and bark at us until we pay attention to her. I've tried our usual no command, i've tried removing her from the room. nothing seems to work.
As a dog trainer, this video is 100% spot on. This is such a a great resource video for new pet owners. A lot of times when people find information on the internet, it gives misinformation but you made a great video! You must have had a great trainer, glad to see it.

sorry for your loss. what killed him, the operation itself or the narcosis?
I have a 4 month old corgi pup - this is a lifesaver!
Yaaaas got to you just in time haha! Good luck!
My corgi is 5 months. I am going to try these nice tips. Thanks
So glad I found this video. Bringing our corgi pup home this weekend.

The way I taught my dogs not to be aggressive with food was by putting my hand inside their mouth as they're eating. I still do it sometimes now that they're adults and they just look at me like "are you done 🙄" 😂😂
Wouldn't recommend this with an older rescue though!
As long as he doesn't get angry when you're near him eating :) I know some strays* that eat from my fingers but they're not used to being fed like that and they look like they wonder when I'll drop the food to the ground 😅 it took some time but they don't bite and if they confuse my finger with food they let go when they notice I'm not letting go lol
* they're strays but they live in a factory and the people treat them more like wild dogs, they feed them and pet them, and the doggies have their own beds, but they don't have a human
I just bought a corgi a few days ago! I'm super excited
@@JadeHammy Aww congrats! Give them an extra cuddle for me 😊
I’m getting mine in two months! It will be the first dog I own as an adult too and I’m nervous
did you get one and how is it going
Playing with their feet every day is so important. The nail trim is important too. Fun video
I am a brand new corgi mom! Day2! Thank you so much for making this! Doing the dremmel today!
Wow, what an incredible resource! Thanks so much! I’m getting not just my first Corgi, but actually my first dog ever, in two weeks and I’m super nervous! I’ve always had cats & I know dogs are very different. This was tremendously helpful. Thanks again! 🙏🧡
Im getting corgi tommorow and this is a lifesaver
This is so helpful! I'm about to get a corgi puppy in two weeks time and look forward to seeing more videos like this. Thank you! x
Wow this is a really well put together video. its detailed, but not boring. Covers a ton of topics and has great information for any puppy owner really.I’m surprised this doesn’t have millions of views. Awesome job!
Bringing a corgi puppy home in November, and I’m so excited. These tips are going to be so helpful!
I'm so glad!
How's it going now? I really want a corgi too
I bred and showed Shar=pei for over 20 years. Everything you said is 100% for all dogs. I dont have any Pei's keft, so it is a new bred for me. Getting a Corgi next week. Very different from Shar-pei in temperment and activity level. But on some level they are dogs and all need a good foundation. Thanks for the video.
Love her ears and howling.
Love this video and I also love how you acknowledge where you could have done better In your training of your corgi good job 👍🏼🙂
Thank you so much!!
Ad soon as my pup was fully vaccinated I took him to my friends house who has 3 dogs one was about the same age as mine. I'm so glad I did that when he was young. He's never aggressive toward dogs now.
i could just tell by her eyes shes a good person
This is such helpful information! I'm getting my first corgi ( girl ) in May. Thank you so much for this.
Fabulous video. Thank you. I’m bringing home a puppy corgi this weekend. Your tips were terrific❤️
I didn’t click on this video cus I’m getting a corgi, I just clicked on this because your dog is cute ☺️
Lol same
Amazing and really inciteful video. Practical knowledge. This blows the other corgi videos out of the water
Thank You for this video!!!
I can definitely relate to everything you mentioned. It helps to know what to do better in the future when I do get another Corgi puppy.
You are so welcome!
Omg, little fluff ball. The ears! Adorable
You probably don’t want tips but with the patio potty thing, Everytime they do it on your patio splash a load of water over it because they sniff where they pee and then pee/poop there again.
This was really helpful to me. I'm a first time Dad of a corgi and everything you said makes sense! Toe nail clipping is due so I'll post after!
McCann dog training has a good video that teaches you how to teach your puppy to let you cut nails. It is on UA-cam and it is free.
4:14 my grandma used mini little carrots for my corgi pup, he actually ate them. They were frozen as well,
I wish I’d done many of these things too with my 1 yr old Corgi. Hoping it’s not too late! I had such good plans too.
You're not too late!
Kayla miles take the leash off your dog for God sake dont be so lazy
@@madirishgirl76 I do take the leash off. Sometimes when I get in the house I have other things to before I take the leash off. My dog doesn’t care one way or the other. Sometimes even having that leash on helps me to catch her when she is not listening.
I want a corgi SO bad, but I'm allergic to dogs and cats, so I cant have one.... I love dogs in general, but I LOVE corgis! 🐶🐶
I’m picking up my 8 week old corgi tomorrow and I’m so excited and nervous for the training, thank you!
my girlfriend and I are getting a corgi next month, and in preparation ive been binging your videos
Easy way to fix the potty patch issue would be to reintroduce the potty patch where willo likes to go now and slowly migrate it to the location desired. Mayb only moving it inches in a week. I’ve actually trained cats to use the toilet with this same method using the litterbox like the puppy pad
I have a 4 year old corgi/chihuahua and my baby(Karma) is spot on to so many things with Willow thanks for the video
You are so welcome!
Hello from my pups Lollie and Gilbert :) They are my first pets and i watched a lot of youtube videos before i brought them home, so thank you for this kind of video, it helps a lot of fur parents , specially new ones :)
Aw hi Lollie and Gilbert! I’m so glad our videos have been helpful! Thank you so much for your comment ❤️
Great video, thank you! We are getting our cardigan corgi puppy girl Lola in just 2 weeks ❤️ Love Willo, she is so cute!
Ahh good luck! That's so exciting. Thank you!
We have never had a Corgi, however the videos and content that you are supplying are Outstanding 👍💯.
The question I had…
Did Willow’s ears come up at the same time??
We currently have one ear up, and one ear down. 🤷♂️.
Thanks so much for your content. As a New Subscriber I look forward to future Willow updates and tips. 💯
Thanks for being honest and open about ur mistakes with ur dog! Definitely helpful!
Hi Willow, I'm your sister Minion (Mini) Loved seeing you again.
This is ALL I need!! thank you… it’s going to be new journey 😆 first pet!
Good luck!!
I did exactly like you said about the potty training schedule.. 👍🏻👍🏻
Go Willo!! ❤ You guys are great love the vid and resources, and hanks a mill!!❤😊
My older corgi he is now 4 loves his crate lol idk how I did it but I started off with a puppy crate in my room. He goes in any crate w/o you asking. If it’s open he will go in when coming back from outside. He was fairly easy to train. Olive my 10 week old is giving me a run lol
hahaha those female corgis will truly test you as much as possible 😂
I have two Corgis now…everything you said is so helpful and true! Great video. 💙🐾💗 Love to Willo from Bentley and Bella.
These are really great tips, thanks so much for sharing!!
You are so welcome!
Very good information!! Thank you so much!
awww when she law down on the floor and cried :'( cutie
One other thing I would add is that puppies go through fear periods while growing up. It is important to be aware of those. As much as possible, we want our puppies to have positive experiences so they do not develop excessive fears that they get stuck with for the rest of their lives. It is even more important, if at all possible, to make sure to avoid scary situations during those periods. If something bad happens, you need to desensitize them and it requires patience.
Psyllium husks are good for stool too! It’s the same stuff that’s in metamucil 😊
Thanks!
Yes Willo did that all the time as a puppy! She doesn't do it at all anymore so yours will probably grow out of it haha
very good tips ,mine is 2yo and i had never cut his nails seems like he naturally grind them by walking him and scratching on the sidewalk and the ground.
Oh my gosh that is so scary!
Your dog is so adorable! I want to get a Corgi now, lol.
Learned so much! Thank you!
I’m getting a corgi tomato’s and I’m so excited
Love your channel ! This was really helpful as always
Glad it was helpful! Thank you!
Very good one thing missing TEACH RECALL!!!!! Come when called it can save your dogs life
I also made a lot of these mistakes with our corgi. I totally relate to the sassy boss corgi, but I thought it was because mine is an Alpha male.
Yes indeed patio and rugs once they get trained on those peep patches or peepads
May I ask where you got the 2 items for Willow I saw in this video? One was the treat holder I believe multi color and the other was a multi color plush toy.
Absolutely amazing video!
Aw thank you!
Im getting my corgi july 30 and im so excites and nervous! Thank you for this video
Great advice!
Very helpful for this future Corgi parent 😃
How are you enjoying your food with dog hair?
I just adore Willo
Aw thank you
corgi question: ours has developed a nasty habit out of barking at us while we eat. the drill usually goes that we feed her the same time we're done making dinner. but she usually finishes before we do and then will proceed to walk over and bark at us until we pay attention to her. I've tried our usual no command, i've tried removing her from the room. nothing seems to work.
Very informative! Thank you!
