I’ve always thought the wing coaster was an under appreciated model. They may not pull the most forces but the gimmick of being on the side of the track is one I can appreciate for the unique experience
Based
They are good when they have near miss elements and theming. They are bad when they have none of that (hello Wild Eagle)
I totally agree. It may be a gimmick, but what an awesome gimmick! I can't get enough of them. It is one of my favorite models from B&M. But when you combine a great gimmick with a crazy, intense ride, you get X2, one of the greatest of all time, along with the S&S versions.
If you sit in the right seat, they're not horrible force wise. Gatekeeper sucks everywhere but the back left. Sit back left, and the thing does its best to throw you over that wingover, and a couple other times. I find the key to any B&M with vest restraints is to make sure that you get left room by the ride ops, and then hold the restraints off of yourself during any positive g moments.
Fenix at Toverland may be an exception then. Very intense ride with both strong positive and negative forces. Though it was short I didn't feel the need for it to be any longer. And when you ride it twice in a row you'll feel totally drained
It's still wild to think that there's not a B&M Wing, Hyper or Giga, west of Chicago. I could see a wing coaster being a good addition for Valleyfair, if they ever get a new coaster that is.
@Tay Thrills If there is a reason for that state it's some stupid regulation no other state has. The other states that are not named California have small parks that can't support the investment. The only park I can see getting one west of the Mississippi is Silver Dollar City
Yeah as a Californian, I really don't get it
@@AdamSmith-gs2dv Maybe one of the Six Flags parks in Texas now that they are working with B&M again.
I've only been on one, but this is the most intriguing B&M model to me.
Yeah same, swarm for me. Only been uk and Orlando for rollercoasters
Honestly, wing coasters are some of the most satisfying coasters to watch navigate a track. Incredibly smooth too. Can never go wrong with one at a park, especially with a near miss element.
Only been on Wild Eagle but it was really fun. Great first drop, a few inversions and beautiful scenery.
We just made our first visit to Great America yesterday and going back today for a few hours before heading home. I wore my Airtime Thrills t-shirt & got several compliments. X Flight was great & probably my second favorite wing coaster of the 4 in the US. Great America is such a fantastic park and I wish it wasn't so far from Nashville.
I hear wonderland might get one of these i sure hope so they look fun
China really likes these like they like Buick motor cars. Wing coaster are very ominous graceful coasters. The track and coasters are MASSIVE and present their own pacing and engineering challenge. Great list you have there.
A day where airtime thrills is always a good day
Flug der Dämonen and Fenix are the only Wing Coasters i rode and they compliment each other so well. One has floaty inversions and twists you around alot while the other is a forceful speedmachine
Its cool that Fenix takes the #1 Spot in pacing with its Size:D
I have a soft spot for wing coasters for just how cool they look off ride and are very smooth and graceful on ride
The pacing of Fenix is awesome and that helix in the middle makes me every time greyout so hard
Only been on one wing coaster, The Swarm at Thorpe Park. Went on with no presumptions and really enjoyed it. The dive drop is class and it feels much faster than 95 kmh.
1:19 I wish that Wing coaster opened. There is also a b&m hyper there as well.
It really is sad that those two really good looking b&ms are just there to sit for an eternity with no riders at all
im curious to know the like top ten fastest paced coasters in the world overall (not including kiddie and dull family ones). Would they even include the fastest rollercoasters?
IGwazi has got to be up there
I305 has to be up there too.
I305 should be very high on that list, maybe even at the top.
The thunderbird is the best wing coaster ever !
Man I love this channel you go up and beyond over all other exclusive!
Great video! B&M Wing Coasters are great roller coasters and they are still popular to this day!
amazing video))
would be cool to see you rank b&m flyers next!
was not expecting the swarm to be very high
I never see a last coaster have best pacing. Jez. Great video
I’ve only been on Wild Eagle but I think that wing coasters are my fav design in terms of looks/sound/smoothness. I wish more parks would add them in the states 🥹
All of them look like so much fun. Be nice if Wonderland got a Wing coaster. Or a suspended. Great video. I enjoyed it.
Great video! I enjoyed watching and learning about these coasters!
I was on X Flight last week. It’s one of my favorites at great america except for when you are sitting on the break run with those tight restraints
B&M fixed that issue later but Six Flags is too cheap to retrofit the trains with the new system. Gatekeeper, Thunderbird, and Wild Eagle don't suffocate you anymore
Id like to see how rapterra compares
I’ve only gotton on wild eagle. And I had a blast on it. Underrated imo
I've only been on Gatekeeper and Thunderbird. I've got to get to some more parks.
I’ve been on 2 of them, and I’m about to go on Thunderbird. Gatekeeper is way better than wild eagle
Having done all 4 in the US, I can safely say that Thunderbird destroys all of the others in the US.
Idk man, just rode wild eagle, gatekeeper is my home park.. wild eagle is strong
And thunderbird is good but ran slow I felt, hang time I guess
@@VKED23 It’s been a while since I rode Wild Eagle or Gatekeeper. I would’ve ridden Gatekeeper in 2021, but it was closed due to the lift chain snapping not long before. Plus, Thunderbird was my first launch coaster, and launches are my favorite elements on coasters, so I have a lot of sentimental value towards it
Thunderbird beats both of them btw.
That mid-course Helix on Fenix is just mental, especially when you are on a outer seat on the right wing. That Element is trying to rip the legs off your body while making it look like your feet are so close to the ground that even a small pebble would be enough to hit it.
Agreed, the outerseat on the left is also crazy, didnt black out much on that helix, but at my 10th ride in a row i started blacking out on it, and the airtime on that first hill is also great.
The fact that there is a wing coaster that's almost 200 feet is the most surprising.
B&M Wing Coaster *exists*
Chinese parks: It's free real estate!
B&M wasn't prepared for this boom. So they just wing it.
@@KingRCT3 Order book full until 2027!
The thing you mentioned at the end with The Swarm and Tatsu, is something colorado adventure at Phantasialand also has, watch a POV if you want to see it.
Great video and glad to see fenix pacing at number one, this thing flies!
Although I have not been on all of wing coasters I have been on over half of them and Parrot Coaster (I still prefer its original name Flying Over The Rainforest) is my favorite. It's a fun ride, good layout and the super slow inline twist at the end is really an odd sensation. Oh and that straight section you mention is a fake splashdown where water shoots up on either side of the train with water cannons which gives a great effect for people walking on the path next to it and a nice view for people in the Rainforest restaurant on the other side of it.
Watching this made me think a Millennium Falcon wing coaster, with a ton of near miss elements like the end of Return of the Jedi (ep 6), would be awesome. Probably too intense for Disney though.
Anyways, cool video.
Disney will never work with B&M, Disney likes to be in control of the entire project and B&M doesn't do that kind of thing. This is why Disney loves working with Vekoma, Mack, and Intamin, they will literally make anything you ask for
I’d say the only upside to the slow pacing of The Swarm is some great hangtime, that late midrun doesn’t help but it’s not the fastest running B&M I’ve been on.
I went to Thorpe park today, Swarm was running pretty fast. I'm no enthusiast but I thought it would at least cover 50 ft per second.
Odd to see Fenix close out the list when many enthousiasts consider it Europe's best wing coaster (though I personally don't agree). Size isn't everything. I do consider the scenic turn very much part of the ride experience, even if it doesn't fit the "Prime Ride Time" definition used here.
Don't forget about kings dominions upcoming wing coaster currently under construction for the 2025 season.
fenix is the shortest wing, but it might just be the best. It sustains 5 Gs through that helix, and has a similar speed hill to the one you find on mako. Its inversions also have a lot of whip.
I love this series but I wish at the end you would recap where all of them placed in order of pacing, height, and length. It's a small thing that would improve the videos mightily.
I’ve ridden all the European ones and am surprised how high up The Swarm was, even fenix feels longer!
5:14 Raptor at Gardaland does feature that too.
If Kings Dominion gets a wing, I hope it’s very similar to Raptor at Gardaland, the prototype. It’d be even better if they worked the terrain and added some new pathways to interact with it and expand the park out.
Lets hope it rides better then raptor then haven't done many of them but Raptor is defintly on the last palce if you go by wing coasters (not that its a bad coaster but it does rattle a bit and isn't as intense as phenix or as diverse as flug der deamonen).
they could make it 200 ft tall...dat would be impressive
I think Gatekeeper is always getting called tame because there’s just a ton of other coasters there that are much more intense and thrilling.
I love this series
There are four B&M Wing Coasters in the US. All of them are located in or near the middle of the country, with three of them being located in the Northern Midwest.
Rode all of them over a span of 5 days
Why did you show in the intro a 4d coaster
Never rode a wing coaster yet but plan on riding my first later this summer.
Can you the coasters of Busch gardens Tampa by the numebrs
You should do a video ranking the world's B&M flying coasters.
B&M flyers by the numbers coming in January
Hey, can you rank coaster favorite to least favorite at different parks? (Specifically Kings Dominion, Carowinds, Busch Gardens, or Six flags great adventure)
Love the swarm short but sweet 🎢
I was wondering going in if you’d mention the SBNO in China, was surprised you did
Could you do a ranking of all Mine Train coasters? I'd like to see how these overlooked little things stack up.
That would be tough. I really never analyzed how they all stack up with each other aside from the obvious
There should be more of these.
I've rode parrot coaster before. It's a very nice coaster and I really enjoyed it. I got 4 rides, two on each side and two on front and back rows. I didn't really feel any difference between the right/left, though.
Swarm is eliteeee
Currently sitting at the Efteling hotel and riding Fenix the day after tomorrow. That pacing is looking juicy.
Dunno if I am weird, but Parrot coaster looks really fun to me. Probably not that intense, but the layout is pretty wonky. You spend a lot of time high above the park, and those inversions seem to give a lot of hangtime. Kind of like a scenic train, but faster and with hangtime.
I hope Six Flags Magic Mountain adds a B&M wing coaster. How are measuring the length of the coasters or what are you basing it off? Because, the length of Gatekeeper is over 4,000 feet.
When you mentioned Flying Wong Coaster, and then showed the clips of Forest predator, one of the predators trains had a backwards last car.
It surprised me that it seems that pacing doesn't matter when it comes to B&M wing coasters. It may be my favorite coaster model from B&M. I'm still a huge fan of Gatekeeper, so those lower pacing numbers don't seem to matter to someone who likes B&M wing coasters. Falcon is a big bucket list coaster of mine!
This model seems like it can work even on relatively small scales, like at Dollywood or Holiday World.
Off topic but I had to look up Hot Go Dreamworld on RCDB when you mentioned it and they have a crazy looking B&M Hyper just sitting there as well. That layout looks amazing. That's such a shame! I never knew about this park.
Apparently they haven't abandoned the project yet (as of 2020) but if they do I have to wonder who will buy those coasters, there is no way two large new B&Ms are going to get scrapped
@@AdamSmith-gs2dv I really hope not. It's crazy that the coasters are 7 years old and have never operated at all. I hope they don't just sit there for much longer.
I’m surprised that there are that many B&M wing coasters in china and also how good they are, especially Falcon and Parrot Coaster. Swarm was my favourite coaster at Thorpe Park and Gatekeeper was my 3rd favourite at Cedar Point after Steel Vengeance and Millennium Force.
at last someone agree's with me that the swarm is better than stealth
Buy or sell: you won’t visit Europe before 2024 😇 I hope you visit us. Your channel is my favorite Coaster Channel for the US. I’m so excited to hear your experience and your ranking from the European coasters in comparison to the American. Perhaps you can meet your European fans?
Fenix is a very intense coaster. The curve before the drop is great. You’re hanging in your belts and are curious to ride.
The first airtime Hill gives exciting Airtime and the helix is insane. Especially at the ground near side. The pacing is great! Yes it is a short ride, but it is a great ride!
For a small park like Toverland this coaster is a massive shoutout!
Raptor has a great theming. It has a good first drop and the near miss elements while the inlinetwist are world class. The rest of this layout is a little bit weird. It does nothing! I was disappointed when I rode it.
Honestly I think he won't. Very risky traveling outside the US now because if you get the new flu you will be stranded overseas until you test negative which can take up to 3 months. F Joe Biden, I hope some damn court rules that testing scam unconstitutional otherwise we are going to have to wait for a Republican president
I agree, im gonna be riding Raptor next month, and tbh im kinda expecting to be dissapointed. Maybe bcs ive ridden fenix over 50 times but the layout doesnt really look that thrilling😅
The worst thing about prime ride time is knowing how long we have to wait before we get another prime ride time
Can you do B&M flyers next please?
FENIX need not worry! I work at Chessington and our new wing will have 17th place in everything in 12 months time😅😅
I wish I could have ridden The Swarm back when it had the backwards trains. It's my favourite coaster at Thorpe Park, and according to my friends who rode it backwards it was better than ridding forwards
VIDEO IDEA: Intamin Accelerator Coasters - By The Numbers
Definitely on the short list for me
Is that a joke about how short the rides are?
you should do the worlds RMC's by the numbers next.
Hey friend! tomorrow I'm heading to Busch Gardens Tampa and planning on hitting Iron Gwazi first thing. Got the quick que for the day which applies to all of the other rides. any tips on how to get the most out of our day? For this one it will just be me and my daughter. This will be our first time at the park and we will be doing nothing but coasters all day. any counsel you have would be greatly appreciated! been watching your videos forever and can't thank you enough for your passion!
fenix had not that much plot since they couldnt afford alot of land but the coaster is really great, smooth but also has some good speed the whole ride u need to ride it to understand
Fenix has the best pacing and the most intense moment on a wing getting 5g's in that helix
Such a shame most of them are in China. Great video.
Which is it a shame they’re in China? That’s pretty racist
We might as well forget they exist, I don't think China will ever let foreigners in again
I think X Flight has the best near misses, Gatekeeper has the worst restraints, Wild Eagle has the best setting, and Thunderbird is the most intense, even though all of them are forceless rides, but still fun.
ngl I think X-Flight might be Six Flags' best Wing Coaster ;)
Love your channel Hello!
Should be going on Parrot Coaster in April.
Earlier upload today nice
I have a feeling when closing day finally comes for kumba in Tampa Bay one of these will be taking its place
I’m super surprised that swarm got #8 on ride time, when I rode it, it felt really short
Only ever ridden one wing, that being wild eagle
The only one I ever rode was Gatekeeper at Cedar Point
How does the pythagorean therom help your calculations
It allows me to figure out how much track is on the lift hill so i can take it out of the overall length
Is X2 considered a wing coaster?
Yes, but because it's so different from B&M wing coasters, he limited this list to just the B&Ms
#buyorsell there will be 3 or less wing coasters installed in the North American market this decade
Wow I'm early- anyway the one in my country is lovely even though its the only one
IM HERE better comment to help him! bc he is da best
Croweman here in the UK loving the vids still. .keep the vids coming
How about a VID on just the uk parks old new whatever? Just a thought. Or something like that I know that the stuff over here isn't quite as good as the US stuff but we're trying eh?!!!??croweman uk
Airtime thrills, I love your videos and have been a long time fan, but I sometimes wish you would put the names and locations of the coasters you're talking about on screen when you're showing them like you have for some other videos. I find myself constantly having to rewind the video because by the time the coaster catches my attention I've already forgotten where it is or what it's called!
That's a good call and i get that. The overlays are so stacked up on these videos that i leave them off but i should make room for the name of the coaster on here
Shouldn't we call it fastest pace instead of best paced? I mean , some coasters that rely on hangtime don't want to blast through their elements but I understand that "layout" is not something you could put into numbers.
#buyorsell the surf coaster will have more installations compared to the wing coaster this decade in the North American market.
Looking at this I'd my video of ranking these rides based on the POV's is fairly on the money
Day 1 of asking for more Sofie content (can we get a Q & A with Sofie please) I’m going to lagoon park Utah tomorrow!!! Great job with this video, love the upload quality and quantity!
I do keep reminding her now that shes out of school to think of a top 15. Maybe after our weekend trip up north in a couple weeks
Awesome! Guess I don’t need to ask any more :)
I think wing coasters offer the better ride experience overall
Fix the harness restraints on X-Flight at SFGAM and it would be top 5.
now do this with boomerangs
I just wish XFlight didn’t have such a rattle because when you’re hanging off the side of the track you really feel it. Very unique model tho
