Just a note, Janfusun Fancyworld is in Taiwan not China. That was a mistake not some big geopolitical statement. 🤷♂️
It's okay. P.S. you should eventually go the the U.K. to do Alton Towers & Thorpe Park
@@christianortiz-v1l i considered it this year. But glad im waiting so i can ride the new Thorpe coaster
@@AirtimeThrills please do this with this with all the stand up coasters, and ranked every stand coaster
@@gary1248 ooh, yes please.
@@gary1248 Would he also be counting the floorless conversions?
Oblivion used to increase the tension of the drop by having audio at the top of the drop saying 'don't look down' until some of the locals complained.
Yeah i remember that. I wonder why it had to be that loud just so the people on the train could hear
I love these “By the Numbers” videos! It’s really interesting to see how things stack up and I almost always learn something new. It’s also clear you put a lot of effort and research into them, so thank you for making great content.
I love the drop on sheikra!
When Airtime Thrills uploads, you know it’s gonna be a good day 😄
I don’t know but today seems kinda odd, no barking from the dog, no smog and momma cooked the breakfast with no hog. Got my grub on but didn’t pig out. I can’t believe, today was a good day.
@@micoasters Congrats on the good day!
@@AmazingElevatorsandClaws I was singing it was a good day by ice cube since op says it was a good day.
Baron 1898 looks small (and it is compared to the others) but it packs a punch! And the theming really adds to it all. One of my favorite coasters actually, despite being “bad” stat-wise.
Yeah that theming looks awesome. Makes up for it being tiny
Its also the only dive coaster which takes the inversions at a somewhat quick speed, so it's actually somewhat intense, plus it's got the over the shoulder restraints, so that means airtime! Personally, I can't stand dive coasters, but Baron is the one exception to the rule. It's not groundbreaking, but it's fun for what it is, which is more than I can say about something like Valravn, that coasters just so ugly and forceless, plus it's airtime is weak due to those vest restraints.
@@diskyboy86 I’ve done Valravn too and you know what? Give me Baron. Valravn’s height is awesome, but I just like Baron more!
A much bigger coaster than Baron is now wouldn’t suit Efteling and the audience they seek to attract. And for the general audience, the coaster is more than intimidating enough when compared to the other rides.
@@jarmoliebrand2005 Plus they can't build above the trees, so bigger would not have been possible anyway. Any deeper neither, because of the nearby water.
I’ve always liked the limited number of Dives I’ve been on. They’re A great crowd pleaser: a well rounded coaster for any thrill park, if they can afford it. My fave is Shiekra, America’s first dive was a home run!
Honestly the coaster I would want to ride the most here is Oblivion the black hole, Yes I have it higher on my bucket list than emperor or Yukon striker. I just think the concept of a sequel coaster to Oblivion in the form of a complete and modern B&M dive is is really cool. Plus it’s Queue looks crazy, the ride may be oblivion themed but it looks like they designed the queue for the Smiler and just changed the color.
0:23 Baron 1898 ❤
It is a beauty!
You gotta love the Pythagorean Theorem 😎
B&M dives are my favorite kind of coaster. I think they're highly underrated.
GP
Anyone who knows who b and m is is an enthusiast! As someone who has only ridden one, they’re awesome.
Just rode Griffon for the first time 2 days ago. What a great coaster. BGW has a solid lineup.
Yeah griffon was rock solid for me this past year
Main reason I want to go to Canada's Wonderland is Yukon Striker. I love dive coasters. I've been on two so far, Griffin and Valravn in that order. 😁 Both awesome!
you have to go on leviathan lol
and behemoth@@Syrup1
Even though its the shortest, oblivion is 100 percent the scariest and most intense on this list, the fact you cant actually see the drop is so scary and gets me every time
Honestly, it always gets me knowing how far down the hole that drop actually goes... Definitely a bucket list experience for me.
I haven't done it since 2021 but it feels more intense than shiekra
I had no idea almost 2/3 of the drop was underground! Totally a bucket list coaster now
My jaw hit the floor when I found out Oblivion had 11 seconds of prime ride time. There aren’t many rides shorter than something like Maxx Force or Kingda Ka in terms of duration, but that and Defiance (in terms of non-kiddie coasters) manage to do it along with a few others on this list. (I’ve never watched a POV of Oblivion)
That might be the fastest non kiddie ride time ive ever seen
The thing that makes me laugh, is the fact that oblivion ( at alton towers near where im based ) is the original and even now it still has a larger drop than majority of the dives nowadays. It also, has one of the most insane drops ive ever experienced! @Airtimethrills GET OVER THIS SIDE OF THE POND AND RIDE THIS BEAST!
Good to see Yukon is still the tallest, fastest dive coaster. No others have beaten it yet and no others have a loop. Canada's Wonderland is my home park. Yes people, Yukon Striker is pretty insane. Rode it back in 2021. All these coasters look fun.
As a fellow Ontarian, I'm so glad Yukon is still the top! It's so hard to find accurate information about the coaster, and despite being a Cedar Fair park and a popular park in general, it sucks that Canada's Wonderland and it's coasters in general rarely gets mentioned in videos
@@felsiccanis agreed.
It's the biggest dive coaster
Oblivion makes all the rest look like kiddie coasters believe it or not
@@BikitninjiNot true
In spite of its puny stats Baron is my favorite dive coaster because of the story and special effects. It’s pretty awesome. Dr Diabolical hits high for the same reason, but it has a weird shuffle.
Valravn is my favorite coaster at Cedar Point. I went there for the first time last year and I think it was better than the other coasters because of the steep drop at the beginning and because it kept me on my toes the most.
I take it you didn't get to ride Maverick or Vengeance while you were there?
I was gonna say steel vengeance has the same drop but with no brakes and just a lap bar but mkay lol
@@Spike-sk7ql I did
Excited for Iron Menace at Dorney next year. Not going to be the biggest or fastest dive, but it's going to really help the lineup at a seemingly forgotten park.
Honestly Oblivion is a bucket list experience for me. Probably just because of how short the ride is compared to the drop and how it’s probably the only dive coaster that would scare me
Also today is Draken’s 5th anniversary!
Video idea : rank all coasters that opened on your birthday
Why would a short ride be better? If anything that’s a reason to avoid it (unless you’re a credit whore) especially when you have better options like Griffon or Yukon Striker
@@WhatAG23 I can't take the oblivion hate. It is underrated as hell, the drop is still one of the best of any B&M dives.
I've been on Sheikra and Baron but for some reason I find Oblivions drop is still the most intense and gives the most stomach churning airtime feeling
One of the few times being in the uk as a coaster enthusiast is a win. Big oblivion fan!
Finally I have wanted this for a while
Fancyworld’s G5 was my first dive coaster! Loved it and Taiwan is AMAZING
We cant wait to go to Cedar Point in two weeks to ride our first dive coaster Valravn!
Ive always loved my rides on Valravn except for the last one so hope its running well for you
I'm so excited for Valravn too! I go to Cedar Point in a month!
@@AirtimeThrills we haven't been yet and we're ready for SV and Maverick as well!
Oblivion is definitely not the worst dive coaster i have done. It might be the shortest but the drop into the tunnel alone make it better than a few.on this list. Inversions on dive coasters offer very little to the overall experience either like they can on other coaster models. Its all about that drop!!
Canada's Wonderland is my home park and when they announced the world's first clean vertical loop on a dive coaster I was, confused. That confusion was because Roller Coaster Tycoon led to believe vertical loops were a common thing on this type and just had never made it to North America for unclear reasons. But as it turns out, yes, we do have the first and only loop! It may be why our trains are only 8 across instead of 10!
Baron1898 #1 of 16 when it comes to theming
Video Idea:Worlds most underused Coaster Names.
Yukon striker is my addiction love the ride!
The width of the trains on dive coasters always make me laugh
They definitely catch the attention of the GP
I have only been on two Dives. Oblivion and Griffon, Whilst Griffon is more of a complete ride than Oblivion. Oblivion is rather intense with that pullout from the drop. Whilst I would love for Alton Towers to extend Oblivion it probably wouldn't happen and does feel very one trick pony sometimes
It really fascinates me that there's only 41 seconds between the bottom and top coasters, which is an incredibly small margin.
Oblivion is short but damn it has great airtime.
“The only model that the mid course does that” Geavinola hypers MWHAHAGAH
Wellll yeah Giovanola is a special beast
The Boss though...
Ah! Another GREAT Airtime Thrills video! Favorite Coaster UA-camr!
The Yukon striker surprised me.😮
You should do coaster UA-camrs: by the numbers for a joke/parody video
I've only done two of those, which are oblivion and shiekra. Oblivion has a better drop, but shiekra is the better ride. I think it's an underated coaster model
I like getting the 2nd steep drop during the ride, so even though those mid-courses hurt the pacing, I'm alright with it in this case. Plus, all the elements are a hit on Dr Diabolical Cliffhanger, so I guess it's not about how fast you're moving; it's about what you're doing & the profiling of the elements. The dive coaster is still one of my favorite coaster types that B&M has done.
I really like that 2nd drop also. I missed that a lot on Emperor
I went on one at Canada’s Wonderland and loved it. Scared as hell at first but it was awesome!
While I’ve only been on Griffon at Busch Gardens, I’m definitely a fan of this model. I really want to see one come to either Hersheypark or Great Adventure
Oblivion at Alton towers is one of my favourite rides of all time its just a shame its so short. But the drop underground is intimidating
Yukon Striker is the best B&M dive coaster with Griffon coming in 2nd and Draken; Griffon's Chinese clone with lighter trains coming in 3rd. Thanks for posting!
Just curious, if a dive coaster were to be built at hersheypark, what would you name it and how would you theme it
Love the series, always nice to see a new entry as I get home. Not sure if this was intentional or an oversight, but Janfusun Fancyworld is in Taiwan. Suppose China isn't technically incorrect depending who you ask.
Yeah that was a mistake and a sticky situation i didnt wanna get into here lol
Totally understand, don't mean to nitpick.
a video idea for you! "My bucket list coasters - By the numbers" Oh yea and love your videos, keep it up!
I did my top 15 by the numbers, definitely could work with bucket list coasters
Fun fact: Sheikra is the first Dive Coaster with a vertical drop
Curious where Iron Menace slots in. I imagine bottom 5 or similar to Baron.
Great video as always. My family and it are going to get Sheikra on Sunday and many more. Hopefully 39 of the possible 43 available in central FL.
Sheikra is the only Dive coaster I’ve been on, but I loved it. Don’t get the hate for dive coasters by some people.
Every coaster at Canadas wonderland by the numbers.
After my next trip there i will do it
I would be thrilled to see sfne get a dive.
I’ve been on doctor d- fun not as intense; griffon is amazing best one I’ve been one-Sheikra is very very good; good second tier coaster.
Reliable, people eaters, gp pleaser, trying to figure out why all mid tier and up parks don’t have one
Wow I never realized Oblivion was that short lol
Imagine when Chris was in geometry class and complaining he would never use pythag, look at him now
Baron doesn’t has the numbers, but it has the theming, which I personally prioritise.
You gotta do videos like this after the parks announcements, lol.
Thing is, Diving Machine G5 and Oblivion are the same ride, so I’m very surprised Oblivion wasn’t placed in front of Diving Machine G5
FantStic. ValRvn and sheikta. My favs. 😊
To think that Oblivion has one of the biggest dive drops is crazy. Rides almost 60m tall
Maaaaaasive tunnel.
Very happy I have Yukon striker at my home park makes up for having 12 bad rides
Another great video
Oblivion the only dive coaster that ive experienced like you said Chris is a 1 trick pony, is quite low in my counts, thanks for uploading this video, hope to 1 time in the future head over to Eftelling and experience Baron 1898
Oblivion winning best pacing? Gotta love the small home park victories!
My home park wins best theming! Baron. Even before I was willing to go on it, the ride is absolutely gorgeous to look at.
Yeah Baron really is a looker
@@ToastGhostIt is a shame the “don’t look down” and preshow bits were cut from Oblivion. I understand why, but it was a nice touch.
I was never a geometry expert or even a pro at math. Weirdly statistics and probabilities I’m amazing at but I’m terrible at geometry, trig, calculus, and advanced algebra. I feel stats is the most useful for daily life because you can do your own statistical analysis of a poll as long as you have enough of the variables. That way you can get the actual reliability and validity measurement. I don’t get how you figure out these numbers on your videos using the pathagreon therom since it’s used for isosceles triangles. With A(squared)+B(squared)(the two equal lengths) = C(squared) (the long side of the triangle).
Think of the lift hill as a right triangle, the ground being the horizontal line, the coasters height being the vertical line, and the lift hill being the hypontenuse. You know the height of the ride and the length of the ground (using google maps) so you use those factors to find the length of the lift hill
@@AirtimeThrills ohh okay that makes sense! See that’s why I wasn’t an engineering major in college and a psych major instead lol. Smart of you to think of that to figure out the length. Did you major in engineering or physics?
I COMPLETELY FORGOT about Diving Machine G5
It’s been a long long time since I’ve watch your videos… I drifted away from roller coasters because i go to a theme park nearly once every two years
I'm surprised Dr. Diabolical's Cliffhanger ranks so low in pacing. Could the audio before each drop have anything to do with it?
Question, is Oblivion’s tunnel the deepest underground roller coaster tunnel?
the best b&m dive coaster is the one that hasn't been made yet
Here's a great video idea: 10 best and worst coaster Name Changes
The top speeds of each coaster seems to jump around, and don’t seem relative to the drop height - it’s bizarre.
another good one!! let me ask..are you planning a trip to canada's wonderland this year?
Yep Canadas wonderland is in the cards for 2023
I haven’t been on a dive coaster yet, but it looks like the Immelmann on all of these takes you out of the inversion super quickly. Like you’re not really fully upside-down. Is that how it feels on the ride, or are they better than that?
When the title of the video is longer than most of the ride experiences
Ive only been on Sheikra but will probably be able to hit Griffom in the near future. Probably be a bit down the road but i think I should be able to get to Yukon striker. Is it wishful to think someday well see a giga dive Coaster?
Of course the one at Cedar Point is in the top 5!
Bro Valraven I loose all the air time. Sherikra you fly around your see it’s awesome. The over the shoulders make or break the ride for me.
Exactly. That's why I automatically rank all vest restraint dives below those which don't, with Diving Machine G5 and Oblivion being the only exceptions due to their stupidly short layouts.
Bro I legit rode Yukon Striker yesterday lol
I was very confused about how diving machine g5 had such different pacing from oblivion at first lmao. Im assuming its because diving machine and oblivion had smaller length numbers so therefore a larger difference in calculation (maybe?)
Less track covered in more time, plus these coasters arent that far apart in pacing
@@AirtimeThrills true, these b&m models always seem to be very close in pacing numbers
@Airtime Thrills out of all the countries youre visiting in Scandinavia which one are you most excited to visit?
Probably sweden
@@AirtimeThrills that's understandable with wildfire and everything
Oblivions stats 👀
Not Related, but you were so right about Everest while I haven't ridden Guardians of the galaxy yet, thankfully I am tomorrow. Everest feels so different from any other Disney coaster and I am actually surprised it is in a Disney Park. Thank you for the tips though and happy that the By the Numbers series with B&M models, I would be interested with like Islands of adventure / Universal Studios, or The Disney Parks.
o and also Velocicoaster topped my list yesterday
Disney and universal by the numbers has been on my list. I should eventually do it
@@AirtimeThrills Yeah that would be cool
i was learning about the pythagorean theorem in math class the other week and all i could think about is by the numbers 😂
Make it a point to your teacher that it can be used to measure track on coaster lift hills, it's very important
Nice vid
If you love B&M Dives, come to Lagoon and check out Cannibal. Drop is better than any B&M Dive, and it is super fun!
Im suprised that oblivion can go like three stories down
More like 12 stories
having this video on the brain allow me to get a 2 on the coastle!
Unlike most dive coasters, this video didn’t disappoint. Prime ride time = 🐐
rip dive coaster at chimelong paradise tho
Nah, surely they won't scrap that one, it would be so good for a park like Dorney, since they're rumored for a dive, or who knows maybe a random park like Lost Island or Cotaland will snag it, or maybe even Gene Staples, but regardless I don't think it's going to the scrapyard. Then again they scrapped the Batman clone in Kuwait which I was not expecting at all so who knows.
@@diskyboy86 It's a Chinese coaster, I do think it's at the chopping block as Chinese coasters are hard to relocate
I need to ride a dive and wing B&M coaster I never rode. I rode inverted, flying, hyper, flourless, sitting and stand up coaster but I don’t like at all
You should do Mack Rides roller coasters by the numbers eventually.
Yeah id have to break it up, maybe mack launch coasters
@@AirtimeThrills Yeah, I would definitely enjoy that.
What Park in PA. Is new dive coaster?
diving machine g5 is in Taiwan
Yep, my mistake
Hold up a sec. Can I have some examples of coasters that have spring loaded wheels and which ones don’t?
Im not sure which do and dont at this point, but i am pretty sure Oblivion and G5 didnt have them when they were built. Sheikra has a 90 degree drop and thats from 2005 but there were other dives built after with less than 90 so i really dont know why they chose to do that
Divinf machine g5 is in Taiwan
Yep that was a mistake
I've only been on Griffon, but I found it massively underwhelming. The first drop is cool and you get decent airtime over it in the back row, its just the rest of the coaster is a complete nothing burger. Inversions so big they're forceless and the midcourse slows the train down so much the drop doesn't do much. It's probably 6 or 7 at BGW for me.
Hello Chris. I know you have the B&M dive coasters by the numbers, but, what's your favorite divey? Also, what's your favorite coaster in Florida, my home state? Our girl Sheikra which I have yet to ride is in the top ten at number seven! So, I'm a happy dork.
My favorite is Griffon and best coaster in FL is Velocicoaster
@@AirtimeThrills thanks for replying.
