Shaolin Monks will always be my all-time favorite game in the entire series. The only major things that I hated about it was the fact that they haven't RERELEASED IT on current consoles yet 😡 and with the game's Co-op mode, you and your friend SHARED one lifebar. If one of ya'll dies, we both die. I guess it's neat because it encourages teamwork, but still. Despite all that, I still love it and still have no problem playing it, nowadays. MK4 is my second favorite game because of how fun and hilarious it is, especially nowadays.

This game is fun whether you play it single or co-op. I got this back in 2005 when it came out and this was one of my favorite games of that year. Being 17 at the time me and my friends would couch co-op a lot, discovering secrets all over the place. This game is just top notch for the time. Its charm still holds up today. I love MK.

One of the best MK games frfr. The atmosphere, combat, lots of really good secrets that you enjoy just unlocking, because they're hidden good, you don't even care about the reward - i love it. Also Liu Kang's voice acting is hilarious in this game, it's my favourite.
I agree. The game makes you work for the hidden items, unlike today where the characters point you to where it's at. Also, the combat is easy, but challenging. One second you could be demolishing an entire group, and the next you could be getting destroyed because you slipped up. I grew up playing MK1 and 2, so the levels and atmosphere really impressed me. It's definitely top 3 MK games
It would be amazing if they re did a deception type konquest mixed with a SM type fighting along with all the new gaming tech they could add Soo much more like swimming, more detailed environments long with more to do in missions/side missions. Just a lot more they could add.
Literally only discovered shaolin monks about a month or so ago, until then I only saw the intro video and heard its name. It's now my favorite piece of MK media out there.
@@IVSAKENSOUL It's a complete different direction from the (IMO) clunky and dated gameplay of their fighting games. It both is a fun beat'em up, and a great alternative way to see the MK world in better detail. I love that it's set in the MK1 and MK2 areas.
I just realized something. Ed boon not only could remake shaolin monks, but he could turn it into an entire series that ends in Armageddon, thus turning mortal kombat from the original timeline into an action adventure game series. That would be insanely awesome, and completely possible with current gen consoles.

I will admit I’m biased because the normal 1v1 fighting genre doesn’t resonate as much as it did when I was a kid but even back then I thought Shaolin Monks was an incredible and under the radar achievement. MK II is my favorite and I loved how this followed the story of II, voice acting wasn't all too great but the gameplay, the story, the enemies, secrets and challenges made this game one of my favorites on my shelf.

Agreed! Melee based game with 3rd person over the shoulder camera just doesn't fit at all, the camera style belongs to a horror game. Controlling the camera while doing combos is pretty annoying

Shaolin Monks and The Warriors were the best Coop games my sister and I've played together. Okay, she did screwed me a lot in MK but in The Warriors there was time when I had to retreat to heal and my little sister were just piling bodies, beating the crap out of hords and destroying boss (except those who had some kind of super armor and she was having her ass beated while I had to use my brain or just throw shit at them.
I spent 70 buck ls for this game because its one game from 6th generation ive been fiending to play. I love that generation and bought moded systems with 98% from that generation but mk shaloin monks didnt work, but 70$ disc did and its a blast. Dont know if it was worth the 70 bucks but its awesome for every mk fan.
Love this video but I have to disagree heavy on the remake adopting god of war ragnorok s gameplay, GOWs gameplay while similar on the surface is constrained by how the camera is oriented.GOW s camera is ALWAYS facing (zoomed in) where kratos is looking in combat and when trying to attack in any direction the camera will get wonky. This would not fit shaolin monks multi directional kombat that requires full awareness of the player’s surroundings to be aware of enemies. If anything if they do remake it take notes from either DMC5 and Sifu cuz those games have probably the most refined combat I’ve played in a game
nah, i have my gripes with GoW 2018 and Ragnarok's combat features. (Rpg shenanigans, camera, lack of a jump button etc) I'd rather they stick to an updated version of the OG Shaolin Monks with elements from SIFU, OG GOW and throw in motor kombat.
I honestly feel like the new ers really needs to Reboot all of the mini games and side games and give the main sotry a break, I would love to see a side story of Kitana and Mileena on Endinia, a Special Forces Game with Jax and Sonya. Reptile home, so many stories we could get a full game out of

Before I even dive in this video lemme just say: I bought this game again 2 years ago and couldn’t even finish it because it’s lowkey so repetitive. You just keep walking forward and getting stoppped to fight. The story is good tho. (I’m saying the game is the furthest thing from flawless)

100 percent. I have my ps2 that I had as a kid and I’ve been wanting to go back and play all of these games again. My parents never really cared to get us consoles so my twin and I got a ps2 and then we had that up until the ps4 came out. Making that switch was a massive culture shock. But I decided to go back and buy a ps3 and a bunch of games from that era bc I’m older and have my own money now. And it was so worthwhile. You can get the games dirt cheap and there’s so many games out there. It was awesome to experience all of the games that I never got to play or hear of. It would definitely be worthwhile to get a ps2 and take a trip back to that era of gaming.

redoing Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks in the style of the new God of War games is honestly a terrible idea. I would legit be angry with that. I think its an inferior gameplay style and I would vastly prefer for Shaolin Monks to remain the way it is.
In hindsight, you're right. GOW 3 would've been a better pick. But with the new Invasion mode, it looks like they are trying to blend their mobile game style with their console version. Hopefully, we get a remake or a port at the least.

True, combat should take inspiration for Sifu or GOW 3, with the graphical fidelity of MK1 with an increased roster. That would be insane

I'd rather they stick to an updated version of the OG Shaolin Monks with elements from SIFU, OG GOW and throw in motor kombat.

I honestly feel like the new ers really needs to Reboot all of the mini games and side games and give the main sotry a break, I would love to see a side story of Kitana and Mileena on Endinia, a Special Forces Game with Jax and Sonya. Reptile home, so many stories we could get a full game out of

Before I even dive in this video lemme just say: I bought this game again 2 years ago and couldn’t even finish it because it’s lowkey so repetitive. You just keep walking forward and getting stoppped to fight. The story is good tho.

People might be getting ps5 consoles or waiting for a new console release, I’m getting my self a ps2. More games and better gameplay. Fun is better then looks.
100 percent. I have my ps2 that I had as a kid and I’ve been wanting to go back and play all of these games again. My parents never really cared to get us consoles so my twin and I got a ps2 and then we had that up until the ps4 came out. Making that switch was a massive culture shock. But I decided to go back and buy a ps3 and a bunch of games from that era bc I’m older and have my own money now. And it was so worthwhile. You can get the games dirt cheap and there’s so many games out there. It was awesome to experience all of the games that I never got to play or hear of. It would definitely be worthwhile to get a ps2 and take a trip back to that era of gaming.
God of War 4 wasn't a reboot, bro. It was a sequel

Nah the angel of god of war doesn’t fit. You’re not thinking of a co op experience. My brother and I lived on shaolin monks growing up. And it has to be a little zoomed out.

redoing Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks in the style of the new God of War games is honestly a terrible idea. I would legit be angry with that. I think its an inferior gameplay style and I would vastly prefer for Shaolin Monks to remain the way it is.
In hindsight, you're right. GOW 3 would've been a better pick. But with the new Invasion mode, it looks like they are trying to blend their mobile game style with their console version. Hopefully, we get a remake or a port at the least.

good review but hate the remake remaster idea tbh. don’t want the new GoW combat would sooo much rather the old style still like what’s on MK:SM currently. not a big fan of the new GoW combat idk why but it just doesn’t feel quite the same to me.
I'm glad everyone has been vocal about the remaster idea. I'm definitely gonna incorporate that concept into future vids as a section. I think I'd prefer GOW 3 style over gow 2018 tho
