Eric is such a nice guy, every time he make this videos he always compliment and elevate his fellow stuntmen, you can see how proud of Sam he really is, that´s awesome man. Others like Amy and Gui always do the same too. It makes me appreciate this guys even more, not only they risk their lives and health, they are also so humble and supportive of each other. Honestly people talk some shit about the reacts series - but it honestly has made me better at understanding film, and the process, and just how hard and artistic all this stuff is. The truly wholesome atmosphere of people just wanting to make better art and encouraging greatness and learning is what makes it good. It’s really inspiring and lends that much more impact to all my favorite films, where I can see the work and the care.
Couple of points about The Thing: Nomex wasn't invented until the 1960's and wasn't marketed by DuPont until 1967. Stunt performer Tom Steele wore an asbestos suit and a fiberglass helmet fitted with an oxygen supply. This is believed to be the first full body fire stunt ever.
@@nomadoma9422 asbestos is actually pretty safe until you start cutting into it (which is why it only becomes a problem with demolition work, not when it's just in a building). The guy that rigged the suit probably did breathe it in though, which sucks.

Veteran stuntman Tom Steele replaced James Arness in the fire scene. Steele wore an asbestos suit with a special fiberglass helmet with an oxygen supply underneath. He used a one hundred percent oxygen supply, which was highly combustible. It was pure luck he didn't burn his lungs while breathing in the mixture.- From IMDB
Oxygen is not combustible, flammable, or explosive. It just makes existing flames burn more intensely. If you shot pure oxygen at the end of a lit cigarette it would not catch on fire it would just make a flame appear at the end of a cigarette.
I know it probably takes too long to create an episode to actually expect this, but I would love it if these were longer. It’s like every video, it ends so abruptly because it is just so fascinating. My favourite thing to regularly watch on UA-cam. Keep up the amazing work!
Free vs pay model. Many corridor videos encourage you to "check out their site" with a "free" 2 week subscription for longer, unedited content, never before seen originals, etc... And I guess it isn't so bad, I mean they are literally an indie VFX house, digital content is the product they create for profit. It's not strictly a content exploitation.
“V For Vendetta”- the showdown between Creedy and V wove VFX and interesting stunts into the lead’s mythos. Creedy: We have guns! V: No. What you have are bullets and the hope that when your guns are empty, I'm no longer standing.
Fire retardant gels were invented in the 1950's. I could be wrong on this one but I would be surprised if that was used in "The Thing". Also, Nomex was invented by DuPont in the 1960's so the stuntman in the burn scene is most likely wrapped in an old time asbestos suit with multiple layers of clothing or a racing suit from that time period. Again I could be wrong but those guys had some seriously big balls and were definitely crazy. You gotta love it.
It's not just seeing them "try" to fix it, but I also want to see that one artist they have take what is already absurd and crank it to an 11! Be absolutely hilarious!
Ajin is really underrated imo. The art style takes a while to get used to, but the story itself is brilliant, and the way they use their immortality is genius. I've heard the manga is even better too, but I haven't had time to read it.
The stunt community might be the only community in the hollywood business who actually support each other rather than competing against each other. There's a mutual respect, a sense of friendship, loyalty and comradery with everyone.
You should also watch Sex & Fury, the other film that Tarantino based Kill Bill Vol.1 on. imo Sex & Fury matches up to Kill Bill even closer, and there are a few shots which are nearly identical. I think you can watch the entire thing on UA-cam, but cw: it was a 70's sexploitation film, so there are tacky sex scenes and nudity.

I only wish i knew more of Chris' work in the industry before his untimely passing. My Bloody Valentine was one of my first 3D-movies & one of my first movie date night films, a nostalgic thought remembering that film. Big fan of several other films he's worked on. I did not follow his work, or know of him or his family - But Corridor Crew has inspired me to analyze film stunts, animations, CGI and the people behind each of these work of arts deeply & passionately. Even if CC doesn't make a video of his work, I'm appreciative that we, the CC community, we're able to come together to recognize a wonderful artist and express our condolences together. My thoughts go out to the Carnel's & I wish them peace in dealing with their griefs.

Yeah I read Ajin too a while ago and it was so good I was a little disappointed they made it fully cgi though for the anime adaptation which kinda makes it hard for anime fans to watch.
I didn’t appreciate film making cause I always associated it with actors and was about sick of fawning over them by my late teens. But ever since I stumbled upon these react videos my appreciation has increased tremendously now that I see behind the curtain and know how much hard work there is coming from the under appreciated talent like vfx artists and stunt guys
Suggestion: train to busan, you can find a lot of stunts (i would recomend either when the zombies are attaching them self onto a train, or the fight scene through one of the cars of the train)

Have you seen the 21-minute "take" in Extraction 2? The clever planning, choreography, and planned cuts to make it feel immersive and like one take took a lot of effort and was really fun to watch. I'd love to see a BTS of how they moved the camera between some of those locations. You should react to this next episode.
Cool trivia: the guy who portrays Bruce Lee in No Retreat, No Surrender, is the same guy who doubled for the late Bruce Lee when they were finishing Game of Death, and played the Billy Lo character again in the sequels.
I am so so so SO glad to see the thing from another world get some love for that scene. In any other film, the awesome moments begin to lose their impact after repeat viewings but with this one every time I know the scene is coming up I keep expecting it to not have the same 'wow' impact that it did the first time I saw it, yet it always seems to make my jaw drop. Fantastic film, amazing sequence.

Glad to see the old Thing From Another World; it's a too-often overlooked movie. It is almost unique in having natural dialogue, where people interrupt each other, and sometimes there are ten or more people speaking in a scene.

i mean "i haven't seen a bunch of a movies because they all look so similar" and "I have seen a lot of movies" aren't contradictory statements. I also wouldn't surprise if they rotate part of the roster based on who has and hasn't seen stuff. They also select movies based on their relevance to the shows topic more than popularity.

@@Early__ Nothing wrong with the CGI, the same studio worked on Knights of Sidonia too I think and normal animation would not have been able to do many of the shots CGI achieved. Just a bunch of purists and traditionalists circlejerking over CGI being bad because of a few bad examples.

Speaking of The Thing: In John Carpenter's version Kurt Russell throws actual dynamite in it and in one scene when he blows up the Thing a piece of shrapnel ripped right through the metal wall right next to him. That movie has a lot of big explosions, fire, and beautifully horrific practical effects.
You should watch "Hardcore Henry" the best Russian movie ever. I think its amazing because its all in first person and I think filmed only with gopros.

If you want foreign you should react to some stunt from this Dutch movie called "Ron Goossens; Low Budget Stuntman". The plot of the movie is literally about a drunk, amateur stunman. It's super fun! There's some sick stunts in it as well (you could check out the trailer)
Rurouni Kenshin (film) (there are also 2 sequels - Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Inferno and Rurouni Kenshin: The Legend Ends) You should definitely react to Rurouni Kenshin, it's a great live action adaptation of a famous 90s anime of the same name (also known as "Samurai X") There are lots of great stunts and the most incredible sword fighting choreography I've ever seen.
They should just make a Sato Takeru special looking at all his action career/films as he did the Ajin live action, and started his break as a Kamen Rider. (and has done a lot of anime live action adaptations) I think he got a collapsed lung when filming Kenshin.
Stephanie Lyons "The Man From Snowy River" and its sequel "Return to Snowy River" are great movies. I'd love to see them talk about Jim's ride in the first one. Great suggestion!

Stunt coordinators man. The John Wick guys were also stuntman first, then stunt coordinators and now they both direct movies (besides John Wick they also worked on Atomic Blonde and Deadpool 2).

Ong Bak 2 is my favorite fighting movie and my favorite scene is the one towards the end where he's fighting a bunch of guys in his village doing full contact kicks to the head and stuff. The choreography is so good. Ong Bak 3 is a little janky but there's a scene where they are fighting on/around elephants and people are getting stepped on by accident.
I personally prefer the first one, it has some really nice stuff. That and Yamakasi (french movie that popularized Parkour) would be pretty good places to find stunts.
The first one had so many repeat angles of the same stunts during the chase scenes... Personally I think the drunk fighting scene in the second one was the best scene of all the movies
The old guard hurt from low budget. If they had flashbacks to their story when they describe the generations of life. It would have made it SO MUCH BETTER. Like the two lovers in crusades killing each other over n over woulda been great. I started writing a similar novel (never got far) of a guy who finds himself immortal after an ancient catostophic event. So im fascinated by this idea for a story but we wana see the past not just the present
Idk if it has more detail than the movie, but the The Old Guard was based off of a comic book of the same name. Maybe you can check it out and see if it fleshes out the characters any more. Also, really cool idea for a novel! Maybe you should finish it.

The most spectacular body burn i have EVER seen in any film is in Mary Shelly’s Frankenstein. I am not even kidding. The scene where Elizabeth realises she’s a monstrous freak and torches herself with a lamp and stumbles down the corridor on fire is incredible. No cgi touch ups or anything, its all pre digital and in camera.
the graphic novel/comic of the old guard came out in 2017, whereas ajin was based off a manga which was released in 2015. i still dont agree that the old guard ripped them off tho, i really enjoy the old guard (comic and film)

I think this video inspires an interesting idea: having the guest react to something a little out of their wheelhouse. Like instead of animators reacting to animation, have a live action vfx artist or director instead.
So just a heads up "The Old Guard" is actually a comic series that is actually REALLY good. I cannot suggest it highly enough. It's not a rip off of the anime because it had an original source material.
Ajin: Demi Human was originally published in Japan in 2012, then in english in 2014, and as an anime in 2015. The Old Guard was first published in 2017. The Old Guard had source material, it's called Ajin: Demi Human.
Undead and immortal characters gave been around a long time so it's a bit of a stretch in the first place. Also, Seven Deadly Sins manga was 2012 as well where a character is also brought back from death repeatedly. Difference being between all these things was, Old Guard they knew they would stop coming back at some point but no telling when
I recommend a movie called Light Blast for stunts. They're some great 70s style b-movie action ranging from "stunt cars" that don't stunt, to a man being knocked off a the top of a car by another car hitting it and exploding--again, 70s style.
You guys should bring in a stunt pilot to comment on all those insane air chase sequences (Italian Job helo-car chase, MI:Fallout air-to-air sequence, A-Team Capt Murdock's flying etc.)

The Japanese 'Zatoichi: The Blind Swordsman' series has some great fight choreography and stunts and was a big influence on Kill Bill.

You should also watch Sex & Fury, the other film that Tarantino based Kill Bill Vol.1 on. imo Sex & Fury matches up to Kill Bill even closer, and there are a few shots which are nearly identical. I think you can watch the entire thing on UA-cam, but cw: it was a 70's sexploitation film, so there are tacky sex scenes and nudity.

I only wish i knew more of Chris' work in the industry before his untimely passing.
My Bloody Valentine was one of my first 3D-movies & one of my first movie date night films, a nostalgic thought remembering that film. Big fan of several other films he's worked on.
I did not follow his work, or know of him or his family - But Corridor Crew has inspired me to analyze film stunts, animations, CGI and the people behind each of these work of arts deeply & passionately.
Even if CC doesn't make a video of his work, I'm appreciative that we, the CC community, we're able to come together to recognize a wonderful artist and express our condolences together.
My thoughts go out to the Carnel's & I wish them peace in dealing with their griefs.

I didn’t appreciate film making cause I always associated it with actors and was about sick of fawning over them by my late teens. But ever since I stumbled upon these react videos my appreciation has increased tremendously now that I see behind the curtain and know how much hard work there is coming from the under appreciated talent like vfx artists and stunt guys
Suggestion: train to busan, you can find a lot of stunts (i would recomend either when the zombies are attaching them self onto a train, or the fight scene through one of the cars of the train)

I am so so so SO glad to see the thing from another world get some love for that scene. In any other film, the awesome moments begin to lose their impact after repeat viewings but with this one every time I know the scene is coming up I keep expecting it to not have the same 'wow' impact that it did the first time I saw it, yet it always seems to make my jaw drop. Fantastic film, amazing sequence.

@@Early__ Nothing wrong with the CGI, the same studio worked on Knights of Sidonia too I think and normal animation would not have been able to do many of the shots CGI achieved. Just a bunch of purists and traditionalists circlejerking over CGI being bad because of a few bad examples.

Speaking of The Thing: In John Carpenter's version Kurt Russell throws actual dynamite in it and in one scene when he blows up the Thing a piece of shrapnel ripped right through the metal wall right next to him. That movie has a lot of big explosions, fire, and beautifully horrific practical effects.

You should definitely react to Rurouni Kenshin, it's a great live action adaptation of a famous 90s anime of the same name (also known as "Samurai X") There are lots of great stunts and the most incredible sword fighting choreography I've ever seen.

Ong Bak 2 is my favorite fighting movie and my favorite scene is the one towards the end where he's fighting a bunch of guys in his village doing full contact kicks to the head and stuff. The choreography is so good. Ong Bak 3 is a little janky but there's a scene where they are fighting on/around elephants and people are getting stepped on by accident.
I personally prefer the first one, it has some really nice stuff. That and Yamakasi (french movie that popularized Parkour) would be pretty good places to find stunts.
The first one had so many repeat angles of the same stunts during the chase scenes... Personally I think the drunk fighting scene in the second one was the best scene of all the movies

The old guard hurt from low budget. If they had flashbacks to their story when they describe the generations of life. It would have made it SO MUCH BETTER. Like the two lovers in crusades killing each other over n over woulda been great. I started writing a similar novel (never got far) of a guy who finds himself immortal after an ancient catostophic event. So im fascinated by this idea for a story but we wana see the past not just the present

The most spectacular body burn i have EVER seen in any film is in Mary Shelly’s Frankenstein. I am not even kidding. The scene where Elizabeth realises she’s a monstrous freak and torches herself with a lamp and stumbles down the corridor on fire is incredible. the graphic novel/comic of the old guard came out in 2017, whereas ajin was based off a manga which was released in 2015. i still dont agree that the old guard ripped them off tho, i really enjoy the old guard (comic and film)

since quarantine i haven't had good anime but when you talked about ajin on Netflix i looked for it and watched all of it, it was amazing loved it also keep up the great work on all your videos i love them

I think this video inspires an interesting idea: having the guest react to something a little out of their wheelhouse. Like instead of animators reacting to animation, have a live action vfx artist or director instead.

So just a heads up "The Old Guard" is actually a comic series that is actually REALLY good. I cannot suggest it highly enough.
It's not a rip off of the anime because it had an original source material.
The comics (2017) were published after the anime (2015) came out, so it is still possible it took ideas from the anime

Ajin: Demi Human was originally published in Japan in 2012, then in english in 2014, and as an anime in 2015.
The Old Guard was first published in 2017.
The Old Guard had source material, it's called Ajin: Demi Human.
Undead and immortal characters gave been around a long time so it's a bit of a stretch in the first place. Also, Seven Deadly Sins manga was 2012 as well where a character is also brought back from death repeatedly. Difference being between all these things was, Old Guard they knew they would stop coming back at some point but no telling when
Eric with the Ajin shoutout, the man knows his anime, respect.
I recommend a movie called Light Blast for stunts. They're some great 70s style b-movie action ranging from "stunt cars" that don't stunt, to a man being knocked off a the top of a car by another car hitting it and exploding--again, 70s style.
You guys should bring in a stunt pilot to comment on all those insane air chase sequences (Italian Job helo-car chase, MI:Fallout air-to-air sequence, A-Team Capt Murdock's flying etc.)
