Thanks for being here!
Liefs,
Sarah 🧶
Thank god for you, Sarah. Your show is a breath of fresh air. ❤
Thank you for a lovely podcast. Maybe for a suggestion for your scrappy sweater is to have the purl side the right side, it makes the stripe more subtle x
Sarah, just continue with your scrappy Kerr, that’s the point of scrappy projects! I think it will look awesome! Have you thought of knitting your sleeves inside out, you can control the ends…..it means purling a lot. Or Finnish the body then come back to the sleeves
Just discovered your channel. Enjoyed catching up with your past episodes. I love heart jumping things!
Love your hinterland dress :) and thank you for the kind shout out :)
Morning Sarah👋🐨🌏.Lovely to catch up with you.Genius idea about the Magic ball..to knit in as you go.I don't trust those knots also🤭Have a lovely time in the forest by the fire..🙏❤️xx
Hi Sarah, I made a scrappy sweater with 2 strands held together like you are doing. The only difference was the purl side would actually be worn on the outside, so the colors blend better. But instead of weaving all the ends in, the pattern said to leave the ends a couple of inches long and then tie them together. On the inside of the sweater I have all of these ends that hang about an inch or two, but they are securely knotted, and it has worked out well! I wear the garment all the time with no issues!
I had a horrible experience with my non-magic knots and won't do that again. Seems like a great idea but in practice, not so much! Your Kerr sweater colors are gorgeous! You can always knit up a couple of swatches and put them next to your Kerr sweater to see how the different options look. I can definitely see how the loose ends can be so annoying!
I have to tell you about a yarn that is cooling with the hand feel of wool!! It's Ancient Arts Nettle fingering. I visited Ancient Arts when I visited my son and wife in Calgary. Nettle is a plant product and the yarn is 30% nettle and the rest is wool. They have DK and fingering and it's a hand dyed so variegated or tonal. I knit a Tessellating Vest by Andrea Mowry using this in it.
Look up VERY PINK KNITS. She has a tutorial on weaving ends in as you go!
I agree with you on the magic knot yarn ball. Sometimes the knots show in your work. I find sometimes it is better to leave about an inch of the yarn on the knot until you can see how it will fall in your work. You might be able to tuck it in. I do so love to save every scrap. It gives me joy.
Sarah, have confidence using your magic knot ball. When you hold yarns double there is less tension on that knot because the other strand provides stability. I have made many projects holding magic knot balls doubled and have never had a failure. I look forward to see what you decide.
Maybe you could add some Sarah sauce and make it a Kerr vest?
A lovely episode. What a stunning yarn shop. Where I live in the UK there aren't any yarn shops nearby so I rely on an occasional show and online. In your video of the shop there was a cute animal softie in grey and white at 34.49 mind I wonder if you know what the pattern is called for this animal? Don't worry if you don't. Your English is amazing. In case you are interested to cast is an irregular verb so the past tense is cast too, eg i have cast on some socks today. I wish I could speak another language well as you. I so enjoy sitting down to watch each week. Thanks
Im knitting a Felix ! Its not for me, but for my daughter. She needs a winter cardigan to wear to work, in Black.
I enjoyed seeing the yarn you purchased, sometimes i think if you see colours you love just buy it !
I agree with a few followers who have commented about the scrappy Kerr. Just let it evolve 😉
The yarn world is such a better place with It is a Sarah. 🧡🤎🧡
❤your works beautiful🌸
Love your heart jumping cast ons! For the scrappy sweater, I wonder if you could knit the sleeves in a solid color and let the body evolve. I think the stripey pattern may be so annoying to knit and the sleeves will never match (which I wouldn't care for either) I like things balanced too. Thanks for your cheery poscast!
I put some Stop Fraying or Fray Check on the knots when I do the magic knots to keep them from coming loose. You could try that. I don't do it on sweaters that gets a lot of wear because I don't trust them to not come undone but I have done it on a shawl and haven't had any problems. I agree with you that magic knots are not always magic lol.
Great podcast today! I could feel your frustration through the screen. I think it’s time to put your scrappy sweater in “time out” until you’ve had time to recover and recharge. I love your new yarn choices and can’t wait to see what you will do with them. Your test knit is a delight - I love her patterns. Enjoy your holiday with your family.
I think your lace project looks great. I once read (I think from Elizabeth Zimmerman) that a mistake isn't worth fixing if it's not noticeable from a passing horse. I love that! Of course we always know where our mistakes are, but no passing riders or "normal" people ever will!
Hi Sarah! I so enjoy knitting with you! I too have a big battery that needs lots of charging ❤😂😂😂 Thank you for sharing you beautiful makes! ❤
You are so cute! I just love your new summer cardi...the drape looks fabulous! You'll have it done in no time. I'm sure you'll figure out what suits you best for your scrappy cardigan. I agree with you..I do love the back the best. Those 4 skeins of yarn you bought at new yarn shop are SO yummy! I love the colors together. Have a great holiday with your wonderful family!! You give me such inspiration!! ❤❤
I have to paus you while I remember the word - wangry😂 Perfect description - I’ve needed a word for it so I think I will use it also (and find something similar in Swedish) because I feel exactly the same!😅
Now I will continue to watch you. Hugs! Lotte
Sarah, The yarn coloways are beautiful…they would look great in colorwork jumper, vest or sweater, take care❤
Thank you for the information about the magic loop knots 🪄 🪢. I just did my first magic loop knot in a baby blanket and now hope it holds up. What beautiful knits you have on you needles 🪡. Happy knitting and crocheting 💚🧶💚
Cotton/linen are definitely not “forgiving” yarns, I find them better in an occasional project, not too often! Looks pretty!
Hi Sarah! Perhaps you should lay your scrappy sweater to rest for the summer and then pick it back up at Michaelmas 🐉🤺
Thank you Sarah. 🇬🇧
So many lovely projects, especially your scrappy pullover. Have you considered spit splicing when the yarns are non-superwash or 'not sock' yarns? It would be a strong join and no ends x
Sanna cardigan is beautiful💛
I would either make it as a vest or start the second sleeve before you do anything to the existing sleeve, then you’ll have a better idea of the whole scrappy/stripy look together.
Also I think you could duplicate stitch over select parts of the sleeve to disguise some of the stripyness.
Love hearing your experiences with lace, as I can certainly relate!! Missing Yos is my most frequent offense. For years I have been considering knitting a Felix cardigan...Thank you again for your entertaining and informative podcasts!! Yes! Agree w @christinegivens9048, you are a breath of fresh air!
Yarn shop was heart jumping
I also have a big battery 😂😂
I’m thinking that you could only change 1 ball of yarn every 5 rows then change the first one the next time, would keep it from striping. Either way it’s a lovely scrappy sweater.
Sarah how about turning your Cur sweater into a vest 🤔🧶🧶🙋♀️
Sarah, I love the scrappy sweater you're making but if the sleeves really bother you, why don't you leave them off and make it a vest instead. I think it would look nice with your wardrobe ( and Birkenstocks)
love your podcast. Where did you get the fabric your dress is made of ? Love it 🙂
❤
What if you just make a scrappy vest?
Hi Sarah
I’m struggling to find the link to become a member of your channel?
Hi Sarah - I think that you are overthinking the scrappy sweater and that you should drop all hopes of controlling the design and just knit up the yarn your hand grabs next. You may be pleasantly surprised ❤
wtf is hardjumping ?
❤jumping. Makes your heart jump for joy. Which most knit / craft projects should be 😊
