"That's not just a great guitar solo, that's a spectacular guitar solo!" Incorrect! That's THE greatest and most spectacular guitar solo of all time! For us metal guitarists, it's the same as Rachmaninov's 3rd Piano Concerto is for concert pianists... and like most concert pianists it's beyond our ability. It's not just that it's technically difficult that makes it great, it's the structure, melody, precision and most of all its sheer beauty.
@@eccehomer8182 i met MARTY back on jan. 25, 1995 during the Youthanasia tour. i told him he was my fav. guitar player(him & DAVE) & his eyes lit up & said "wow, man...really? thank you so much". he seemed genuinely shocked that anyone could view him as their fav. guitar player.
@@satanlaffing Nice story, (tell it to Reader's Digest). 😉 Marty is my favourite metal lead guitarist by miles, Dave is also my favourite metal rhythm guitarist. So many others from other genres though... Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Uli Jon Roth, Michael Schenker, Brian May, Dave Gilmour, Steve Lukather, Johnny Marr, Stevie Ray Vaughan and of course EVH.
I got into metal because of Metallica but after becoming a guitar player myself I've learnt to appreciate the magician that is Marty Friedman. Nothing comes close to early Megadeth, especially the Marty Friedman era.
Same. Grew up a huge Metallica fan (still jam them), but when I started playing guitar I gravitated more towards Megadeth. Marty’s the perfect combination of technical proficiency and feel. Dude’s note choice and phrasing is second to none. The second he starts playing, you immediately know who it is.
Es un discazo, pero siento que solo existen 2 discos superiores minimamente a Rust in Peace, que vendrian a ser Painkiller de Judas priest y A Matter of life and death de Iron maiden
No surprise - i have not heard this before. I like it! But you were absolutely right to replay the solo. That was great. I think it is better than the other two.
Saw an interview with Marty where he said he improvised this solo in the studio and had to go back to the recordings so he could replicate it live as he couldn't remember it.
IMO it's that's only Megadeth solo that comes close to Marty's stuff. Big call for #2 with the likes of Lucretia, Skin o' My Teeth, Five Magics, Family Tree... Definitely up there though.
If you want to watch Megadeth live I recommend the San Diego Ashes in your mouth song (has sick solos as well) or the rude awakening she-wolf song (has many sick solos) or kick the chair San Diego or symphony of destruction night of the living.
Ok so sepultura has been thrash from Arise but let us not forget about chaos AD Album They change it up to groove Metal! Man I think you guys would really dig on it! *Nomad *Propaganda *Slave New World These are good songs bro’s
If you'd like an another outstanding metal guitarist and out of this world solos, check out Coroner's Tommy Vetterli on their Grin album, he's burning this album with his solos. I'd recommend to start with "Internal Conflicts", then "The Lethargic Age" and of course "Serpent Moves", but the whole record is an underrated gem.
Ever since I found you guys on YT, I've quietly sat around thinking that a channel calling itself "Views From The 502" had to react to Megadeth's song "502" at some point. Not the same 502, but it seemed kinda obvious to me...lol. Not their biggest or best song though.
Marty's playing...no, I'm sorry...writing... is like the scratch of a cat. Tender, graceful, yet deadly. Like the katana of the samurai. His diction, his flow, his embrace. Dave Mustaine must have wept when he signed Friedman's walking papers
You really need to do some skid row. Here are a couple of great ones Youth gone wild, or slave to the grind would be the best one to start with. My favorite band of the 80s. You will not regret it.
Suggestion. Always have the lyrics handy whenever you do a Megadeth song. Also, after you finish Rust move on to Peace Sells. The Conjuring, Wake Up Dead, Devils Island and My Last Words. Different than Rust but sure to blow your mind.
top 3 marty solos for me: this, first one from lucretia and family tree. the last one if kind of a personal choice. simple, based on pentatonic but incredible build and melodic
Remixed is the ones you are probably talking about. They put out their whole old catalog remixed with extra parts added and redone etc. I don't mind them but do prefer most of the original ones.
Normally, remastered is NOT a lot of difference, but with Megadeth, they released their catalog as "REMIXED & Remastered", and it's the remixing that is the problem. Remastering, the original recordings are boosted and enhanced without much mucking around, but remixing means taking all the original master tapes of each track (guitars, drums, bass, vocals, etc) and completely re-tooling shit, sometimes adding or removing certain elements. Remaster = good, no big diff from the previous/original release Remix = total change, like when a recipe has its ingredients altered - purist listeners beware Sometimes a remastered (or even in some cases, newly RE-RECORDED) track is wrongly labeled as "remixed" (and vice versa). Inconsistencies and misnomers like this are why there's so much confusion in recording/mixing categories. That all said.... YES, PLEASE avoid the "R&R" recordings from Megadeth. It will be difficult cos UA-camrs mis-identify their uploads all the time (either cos they don't know or don't care), but every effort you make to obtain the originals would be great & appreciated! :-)
@Dave Scott Mustaine Yes, very surprised!! But how nice of you to reach out to a fan. I am doing good today, just trying to stay cool, it is so hot. How are you? I am your age, and I miss the good music of our time. We certainly grew up with some of the best music around.
@Dave Scott Mustaine I am writing from Dayton, Nevada about 1 hour from Reno, Nevada, and 45 minutes from Lake Tahoe. I am originally from Maplewood, Minnesota near St. Paul. I am embarrassed to say, only one in 1885 or 86 in San Franciso in May. My cousins who live in the Bay Area took me for my birthday (May 15), but the concert I believe was May memorial weekend. I have not been able to attend another one yet. There was always an issue, like many surgeries and I was unable to travel and have not seen you in Reno. So sorry, but I am still a fan. Someday I will make it again.
You guys are lucky because you have 40 years of material at your finger tips. If you want the real experience i suggest going all the way back to the beginning of Megadeth and experience how the band evolved over the last 40. Killing is my Business. Just my opinion.
Without the least bit of doubt this is the best album in the whole history of Thrash Metal.
I concur
I've got a little tiny bit of doubt, but... Yeah. You're probably right.
In any case check out Vektor - Charging the Void if you haven't heard it already :)
There is definitely some doubt from most people. But this album is brilliant. It'd be hard to argue that it isn't at least one of the best.
It's at the very least Megadeths best album. Totally different from what ex-Thrash Metal band Metallica was doing at the time.
Marty brought this band to a new level.

AMEN to that. Let's not forget the trade-offs in "Hangar 18".
@@satanlaffing Marty really is incredible. It's not just about speed... his composition is exceptional. He's very melodic and often modally perfect.

It's an incredible solo for sure. But still for me doesn't touch Andy LaRocque at his best.
Marty, Marty, Marty.....DAYYMM! That is the most solid band lineup ever for MD.
Megadeth and TRASH METAL HISTORY.
Gotta do "Lucretia" next. Underrated track.
Yes, that and Rust in Peace... Polaris. That whole album is perfection, now that I think about it.
i just wrote a comment saying the first solo on that one (marty one) is top3 megadeth solos
Yes!
IMO Five Magics is the most underrated track on RIP. Marty's fifth solo (yes fifth!) is God-like. Dave's outro solo ain't too shabby either!
@@smn1085 Agreed. #1 Tornado of Souls #2 Five Magics (fifth solo) #3 Lucretia (#2 & 3 are interchangeable... #1 isn't up for debate!)

No surprise - i have not heard this before. I like it! But you were absolutely right to replay the solo. That was great. I think it is better than the other two.
One of the best metal album ever. Simple as that. Great react guys🤘😁👍
Best thrash metal solo ever #Eargasm 🤘💯🤯
Megadeth - She Wolf live Rude Awakening will blow dude away, if he wants some live Megadeth!
Saw an interview with Marty where he said he improvised this solo in the studio and had to go back to the recordings so he could replicate it live as he couldn't remember it.
Its hands down the greatest thrash metal record, and one of the best solos ive ever heard. Rust in Peace is Metal Royalty
You 3 kill me. You can go from groovin' to Al Stewart to bangin' to Megadeth.
Another fine review and reaction.
If you want a live Megadeth song.... She Wolf is the go-to. Trust an aussie \m/
If we're talking Cryptic Writings, then I might gotta disagree and say Mastermind!!
Misread ya mate...ya said "live"!!!
You're not wrong
Old Megadeth is great, but some of their newer stuff is also really good as well. Start your trip into the 90's and 2000's albums.
David Ellefson (Bass) has the coffee company. Dave Mustaine (Lead singer) has a Beer and a Wine company. Ive tried them all and they are very good.
Still one of my favorite solos from one of my favorite albums of all-time. Thanks for doin it fellas.
Coordinate headbangin in 3:18 is pure feeling!!!
Love from Chile.
Props to the guy in the middle. That guitar solo is badass and you felt it man.
You just hear #1 guitar solo of all time period !!!
MEGADETH=Guitar Supremacy.

No seriously glad yall like this. 1990 If I remember correctly. MEGADETH was my inspiration to be a Metal singer
The greatest solo in megadeth history ! According to a lot of people
For me, it’s impossible to choose
06:11 they all started banging their heads. That's metal for yall
I like when their heads are nodding up and down at the same time
Literally Marty's best guitar solo.
Best I've heard anyway.
The guy in the middle, he just gets it!!!!
Ran the solo back 3 or 4 times just now. Bought the cassette release day, heard it a thousand times, doesn't matter
Megadeth - Dread and the Fugitive Mind has what I consider to be the #2 solos behind the tornado of souls masterpiece.

Megatdeth "she wolf" rude awakening live version. Itll blow you away. They take turns on solos and even has a drum solo

Definitely the best live performance ever.
