According to tests performed by Shawn Houston and Outpost 76, these are run at 64 Hrc!! Which makes them absolute beasts! Finally ordered mine today, can’t wait! I also want a Native 5 Salt with Magnacut. Spyderco is a really good brand. 🕷🕸
Agreed; the PM2 is simply a modern classic. I don’t think its form and function will ever become obsolete, and it’ll be around long after trendier designs have been forgotten.
Very true. This knife has really stood the test of time. It may not have the coolest mechanism or the latest features but it’s a knife that works and works very well!
My favorite. Like you, I have been carrying daily for many years (or decades) and have an extensive collection with some knives costing 3 - 5 times what the P2 does. Since adding this to my collection, I’ve found it in my pocket more and more, to the point where it is in my pocket over 90% of the time. Even owning several Spyderco P2s, this particular model (Cruwear Micarta) is THE one I carry most. (In this category, I’ve got to throw some love out there to my ZT 0770cf)
Spyderco heatreats are top shelf, my Cruwear Military is also super clean after heaps of use. Cool how you compared yr PM2 with those high end blades, it says a lot. Cool vid, subbed.👍
Just bought this same knife to replace my PM2 Tanto which was stolen. I miss that PM2 tanto, but this one is cool too, although the flex on the micarta near the backlock makes it feel a bit cheaper. Also picked up my first Shaman, and wow, it's amazing too!
Congrats on your pick up and sorry to hear about your knife being stolen. I lost a Chris reeve Sebenza and still hurts to think about it. I honestly haven’t noticed the flex of the micarta near the lock area but I can see where you’re coming from.
Really great presentation bro. You made perfect sense for the average guy who's surrounded with all kinds of other options in the same class but cost a ton more. Let's remember, our economy is falling apart. There has never been a more important time to spend smart. Your logic made sense to me. Bravo Para 2.
Thank you Tom! I appreciate your thoughts! I feel that the PM2 is just a rock solid choice for anyone who wants a great performing, versatile knife that won't break the bank and will probably last a lifetime.
I just got my first Spyderco and this is it I hope I made the right choice that mannix was really talkin to me and I'm a Benchmade guy so I love the axis lock
Pm2 is better than a manix for carry. Takes up less pocket room, and I prefer the compression lock wayyy over sypdercos lock on the manix. You made the right choice!
Mine held an edge a long long time. It was my camp go to knife so it did everything from food prep to light wood processing and even swam with it on a few occasions.
I've watched this video many times over the past week as I'm torn between getting the PM2 with Micarta or G10. I'll be using it a lot for food prep. I absolutely love the Micarta with Cruwear, but I'm wondering if a PM2 with S45VN would be better around water, food etc. I'd love to hear your thoughts. Great video by the way.
Thanks! I would def go with the s45vn as that will handle food prep and water a little better than Cruwear. Though in real world use, it’s not a dealbreaker. I love patina and the character it gives a knife so I’d still choose Cruwear overall. Cheers!
@@these7seas Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I was surprised when you related all the conditions your Cruwear blade has been through..lakes, dirt etc, and still held up. I'm definitely leaning toward the crucarta as I also like a nice patina to develop over time. I'll just make sure to keep the blade clean/dry and oiled. Cheers.
It's an icon. All other knives are compared to it. Obviously, the knives like Koenig, CRK and Hinderer are more expensive for reasons other than form and function.
Good question! I usually go to BladeHQ, DLT Trading, EKnives, Southern Edge, Knives Ship Free. The only deals I’ve experienced is the reward points you get as you buy knives.
Disagree with the engaging with customers aspect. I want the PM2 in Tanto. They did it as a special release for Blade HQ and never met the demand since.
Holds up one of the best combinations of materials in a knife from one of the best knife brands in history "iS tHiS sTiLl gOoD". Fucking obviously. Knives made 20 years ago are still a solid choice for EDC. It's either clickbait (probably, cause people are shameless sellouts) or people are so spoiled with new products that they could somehow consider a Cruwear Spiderco to be a bad choice. Stupid either way.
A KNIFE THAT HAS A VERY HIGH PRICE THAT IS NOT WORTH IT. SORRY. THERE ARE OTHER ONES THAT ARE MUCH BETTER AND LOWER PRICED. BUT WHOEVER LIKES IT SHOULD BUY IT. I HAVE NEVER LIKED THAT STYLE OF BLADE.
Hey man I was wondering if you could help me? I've been trying to decide if I should buy the pm2 in brown micarda and cruwear steel or the manix 2 xl in brown micarda and cruwear steel? Which one should I buy?
Dang that’s a tough one. For me the PM2 is the perfect edc in terms of size, carry, and performance so I’m gonna lean towards this one. Also I like the compression lock a lil more than the ball lock.
@@asherrose6594 yeah for sure! I think the PM2 will fit very nicely in your rotation. The micarta Cruwear config is MY FAVORITE one. I’ve had several different PM2s but this config stands out by far!

How has it held up? I finally just ordered one.
@@jawnmorrison110 well, i baby mine, so I can’t really tell how they perform when used properly. But it’s a gorgeous tool 😝

One of those designs that has really been a staple of the knife world for a long time. Only great knives achieve that level of fan fare for this long
I agree. This knife exists in rarified air where it’s really become an icon in the knife community 👍

I'm gonna get one of these eventually. The cru-carta one like yours. Thanks for posting!
Did you get one yet? I just ordered one off Amazon. 38% off then got the deep carry clip for like $11.
Literally just bought the exact same knife 3 days ago… it’s amazing.
Hahaha yeah it’s just about the best all around edc with a lot of history behind it!
Bought this knife on Friday and its great. Love the steel, micarta, and larger compression lock tab. Action super smooth.
You just can’t go wrong with this knife! Glad you like it so far!
I have the CutleryShoppe exclusive with an XHP DLC coated Wharncliffe blade and orange G10 scales, it's very noice.
My fav knife channel
Much appreciated! Glad you enjoy my channel 👍

I carry a PM2 in s45vn. It has one use and one use only TO SAVE MY LIFE. no cutting apples. No cutting rope.

I gotta snag the Military 2 Crucarta when it drops. Hopefully soon
That’s def on my wish list!
Pick up a pm2 in s90v awesome knife
Good looking version.
Just ordered the manix 2 same configuration for 180 on Rivers edge Cutlery. Available now
Wish I would have know that about 2 hrs ago lol
Oh man would love to hear your thoughts on it once you get it! I was eyeing that one!
I ordered 1 about few hour ago it was a good deal.Hope it will hold the edge just like my Adamas folder in Cruwear
Mine held an edge a long long time. It was my camp go to knife so it did everything from food prep to light wood processing and even swam with it on a few occasions.
@@these7seas That's awesome .I'm wondering if the knife back lock would hold well and not to fold on the fingers, God forbid.
How has the micarta held up? Everyone complained about the side with the compression lock being weak but doesn’t look like it would break
It’s held up super well, no issues! Honestly I’ve had NO issues whatsoever with the micarta even where it’s thin near the compression lock.
@@these7seas that’s good to hear. That’s all I ever saw on reviews is everyone complaining about that section but no follow ups about it.
If u live in a state that requires 3" blade then get manix. Otherwise, get pm2

By the way, Spyderco will be releasing a Para 3 with Micarta/Cruwear with full liners in 2024. That just adds more pain to my decision.

When it comes to sharpening, How's the hardness of the steel, Is it easy to sharpen or a little challenging?
It will ALWAYS be a solid EDC choice
I can’t believe you swam with it and the Cruwear didn’t rust. Did you clean and live it afterwards?
Great channel. I don't really see the point of a carbon steel small folder with edge retention worse than S30v. Just IMO. Not that it's terrible...
I appreciate you checking out my vid!

100% thanks for watching!
