I miss your vids. I wish you’d come back. I understand there was some crap going on but you were my favorite knife reviewer and the one I felt to be most genuine and not just trying to sell me something. I hope you’re doing well and I’m holding out hope you will be back at some point. Best wishes whatever your plans are.
I own a PM2. Was my grail until I used the blade and it earned a small scratch on the s30v. At first was like, "Ah dang." Then was kinda excited that I got that "mint" period out of the way. Now I use the damned thing for everything! Awesome knife. The only thing about it is that it's a bit awkward to let someone use it when the occasion calls for a cutting tool because it's a bit large and beefy. I do like the look of the Para3.
Been years out of the knife game. And voilà..there is a Para 3?! Used to be a collector. Owned dozens of real High end knives, sold them pretty much all, but the 1 knife I kept and still carry till these day 24/7...Para 2! It's like my best friend, never go anywhere without it for over 10 years now. Might pick up his little brother to join the party. Like I said I owned dozens of knives but the Para2 just has that X factor that is hard to describe and even harder to beat. To me the Para2 is the perfect edc. Not so sure about the small size of the Para3. Might be a bit too small for my likings and also doesn't look near as good as the Para2. But then again, I do want to try out the para3. Thanks for sharing👍
I happen to think they're both very good looking knives. I like the streamlined, no-frills, utilitarian design. That's actually why I think Glocks are aesthetically appealing (to me) pistols. There's beauty in simplicity. I hate flashy shit. Although I do like color. Black can get somewhat boring.
I currently have 17 unique model variations of the Para 3, plus three (soon to be four) duplicates/users, so twenty total, soon to be 21. Yup, I do really like them!
That's amazing, I wouldn't want any of those short bladed useless stubby mini knives even if they were free. Must have a 4" blade or longer to even be considered. The military version is the only knife I would even consider spending money on. If I could still purchase a new Cold Steel Recon 1 XL for about $165 I would order two!.. That's a knife!
I have 2 of the Para 3 - light weight & the S35v. Both are great. I maybe the only one who doesn't mind the stock pocket clip. It feels better in hand than the deep carry clip. That said the more I carry the Para 3 the more I appreciate the PM2. The ergos of the PM2 are just perfect for me.
I just want my para 3 LW already. Spyderco has said they want to minimize wait times but here we are. I guess it’s something to look forward to. My guess is the pm2 LW will be coming too
i like the looks of the pm2! i've had a orborne 9400 (auto 940) and now that i have a pm2 i no longer carry the osborne. i like everything on the pm2 over he osborne except for the small profile. i wear size 28 pants so i'm a small dude and it doesn't feel too big in my pocket. i switched it from tip down to tip up also. i'm now a spyderco convert. the only thing that benchmade has over spyderco is the warranty and $35 blade replacement
I was on the fence on which one to get and ended up with the PM2. I was actually quite surprised when it arrived that it was not as big as it looks in photos and videos. So glad I did not go with the Para 3. Love my Fradon Lock PM2. Perfectly sized knife in my opinion.
I have both but the pm2 is a cutlery shoppe version with a wharncliffe in CTS-XHP while the para 3 is in s45vn. I have found both blade materials to be very good. If ever a para 3 comes out with a wharncliffe blade I'll have another para 3.
I’ve never been a fan of the Spyderco as far as looks, but from a functionality and ergo standpoint I’d say they’re hard to beat. I’ve been carrying a ZT 0450 for awhile but I actually bought it as a gentleman’s/dress knife. I feel like the PM2 would make a great work and hard-use knife.
Thanks Bryan. You're absolutely right again, as far as I'm concerned. A deep-carry want or need, on knives for me too. Is not about looks, but about having a deeper, more secure carry. Like when climbing a ladder, or getting up onto a forklift or Tractor. Raising a leg up high, while doing this. Can push a higher carried knife, right out of the pocket. : - )
I sure wish they’d redesign the PM series to have a longer cutting edge relative to overall length. It just doesn’t make sense to carry such a large knife with such a short cutting edge. I wish they’d crank out the tenacious in better materials since it has a much more reasonable cutting edge compared to the overall length.
Slizzy Dizzy ! I have a Para3 maxamet pm2 S30v and a pm2 20cv on the way. Can't wait to get that pm2 another Spyder I really like is the SpyOpera awesome knife. Keep up the good work dude
Green linen micarta ones are great in my hands. I don’t think the thin area will break as I don’t contact it. I’ve had them on for a month now and I love them. I have the Spyderco fluted titanium handled military and it gets just as thin in the front and feels great because of it. These scales remind me of that feel and I’m digging it. I also like the stock clip as it’s easier to grab..
My vote would be the para 3. I thought it would be to small just looking at specs and pics online but after getting hands on experience with one I find it far better than the pm2. I currently have 7 para 3's haha
I never realized the pm3 was so tall compared to the pm2. I had assumed the height was to scale as the shortened it. Still a cool knife and my next purchase, but I’m glad I bought a pm2 first
Both looks nice and good build, but for EDC, 3 inch blade is maximum usable...for other heavy stuff ( gardening, survival, exploration, etc) things change and you need a fix blade 3 inch minimum (sorry a folder is not safe) So after checking this we have the winner..Para3.
I'm all about the Para 3, but I'm forced to skirt around the sub 3" length. I really, really the looks of the PM2, but the Para 3 is just about perfect for me. I have thin XXL hands and it fits like a glove. I sold my Para 3 to buy the lightweight Para 3. I'm just contemplating if I want to wait for a Para 3 lightweight salt for the juicy lc200n. I may not wait for the salt though... those quarter releases are brutal(yet good)
The only thing with the para 3 that drives me crazy....is the stop pin. Imo I think I gives the knife a cheap look. I wish they would make the stop pin a torque screw like on the PM2.
I disagree completely! It shows they know exactly what they are doing. How would a hollowed out post and screw ever be as strong as a single piece of metal. No way
I have a Para 2 Knife joy exclusive in CPM 20Cv black blade lime green handle. I like the longer blade and handle of the Para2 , I do not collect these because they are expensive all I need is the one I have . I am not interested in the Para 3 it is just not for me.
My first was a tenacious which I love minus the cheapy steel (which I knew going into it at that price point) so the PM2 was the next step up for me. Fortunately I snagged one for 50 bucks at the spyderco seconds sale last week so I'm excited to get it!
If you had to only own one the differences are very negligible. .44 being the difference in blade length and less than an inch for overall length. I mean the prices between the two are a matter of 10 to 13 bucks
I actually buy the Para 3 for the look. Over time, every curve in the utilitarian design makes more sense and therefore gets more beautiful. It doesn’t appeal to people not familiar with knives, but that doesn’t matter at all.
I’ve had a couple pm2’s and I just got a k390 para3. My pm2s I sold but they were early models and I have to say my para3 seems like it’ was put together better. QC wise. Came perfectly centered and drop shuty with no play. And with my pm2s both I adjusted them constantly and could never get the side to side play completely out. Not saying there was a lot but my para 3 is the shit!!!
Right, it’s the wrong question..... should you buy a PM2 or the Sage 5. Lack of steel choices is the only thing that holds the Sage 5 back. I’m pretty meh about the Para3
I got both, and the answer for me is the Sage 5. The blade’s a better slicer, it’s much easier to carry, and I usually don’t need the extra blade length. I think the Sage’s blade shape and the handle finish are more attractive. Both are great knives.
Step #1 buy a tenacious, step #2 watch the PM videos, step #3 buy another tenacious and wait 50 years until the first one needs to be replaced. For the collectors, buy whatever you want to collect.
That’s so odd to me because I feel like the clip in the para 3 is perfect I don’t care who sees I have a knife in my pocket and I’ve never had any issues with my knife snagging on anything and I use my knives constantly at work. With as much shrink wrap I have around me constantly I’ve had many a knife get snagged out my pocket and never once has any of my spydies come out my pocket in over 12 years in that job .
So I need one of these. I have couple Manix 2s and a Yojimbo. They have pm2 for 117 at cutleryshoppe right now . That plus a mxggear clip comes out to the 140 about. I have lg hands so I think I’d go pm2. I want a blue or red handle bad but damn those 2 market prices
Personally I'd say pm2 or a sage 5. The para3 has an atrocious pocket clip, so you're going to end up buying a deep carry clip $20-30 anyway. Which brings you to the same cost as the sage 5, plus you get the c.f. laminate scales and it's lighter, so to me for a 3 inch blade spyderco it's the sage 5 no contest.
Honestly it does not matter which one you choose. Most people who get one of them will for sure get the other one eventually. Even if it takes a couple of years
185.00 for the blurple para 2 s110v. about 7 bucks cheaper for the para 3 similarly outfitted in s 110 v. large hands= para 2. sage lw with compression lock over para3 for any size hands. at least my take--and don't forget the excellent griptilian in s 30v for around $100.
Which is more different than the manix? Ordering manix and one of these as first real spydercos. I have tenacious, but want a couple better ones. Wish I could find a limited edition or exclusive version of any, but no luck. Love your videos, they have really helped me as a new knife collector.

the blue versions of these two knifes are sold at bento box with M390 steel I think! its funny just how much money they ask for two upgrades, but one must deal with large lanyard hole and replacing its pocket clip as well.
As a left handed person I hope they make a left hand version P3 lightweight and regular version. but for now we only have the pm2 LH which I definitely recommend 🐱

As a left handed person I hope they make a left hand version P3 lightweight and regular version. but for now we only have the pm2 LH which I definitely recommend 🐱
The para 3 black g10 looks blacker than para 2...
Don't buy either one. Purchase a military version or a Recon 1. At least you'll have a usable 4" blade. Not some small mini knife
Can we get the PM2 mini though.. Or the PM2 blade on the para 3.
That's literally exactly what it is.

The blade on para 3 is too chunky.. If it was more like pm2.
There wasn't a choice for me only the pm2 comes in a Left hand version but would love to see left hand model of the para 3😎
