    they are currently expanding the CRU-CARTA line to the Para 3, military 2, manix, and erik said he is going to be releasing that combo on a lot of their knives! super excited about that since it's my current fav combo.

      Are they? I'd love a manix cru-carta! Living in Italy is such a let down, to find a PM2 cru-carta took me a lot, USA made knives are so expensive here but worth it. Benchmade can get 400/500€ around here. I read these are not going to be discontinued and I hope that. I love they chose micarta, I like to see the worn use on a knife, really makes it your own.

    Dish soap and water brings the scales back to looking new

    Had my Crucarta PM 2 for little over a year now. Swapped out the micarta scales for AWT aluminum scales, changed the screws, standoffs, lanyard hole and pocket clip to all black. Love the heft the new scales give and now it feels and looks like a premium knife. Awesome review and content! Thanks for sharing! 👍

    The thin part of the scale is fine in use, but if I pinch it to close or open directly opposite the lock tang, the flexy scale pinches the lock, preventing it from moving through its usual travel. This subtle change can stop the blade from falling shut or dropping open. I've had to adjust to holding outside of the scale over the first body screw. When you're used to certain PM2 ergos and you have to adjust it can be a bit disruptive.

      Maybe it's a feature in hard use, compressing the lock like a frame lock from accidentally opening though it was never a problem to begin with.

    I ordered one of these, everyone always hates on the clip, i have not had a pocket clip be a problem for me on ANY knife, i will update in ~month or so if this one changed my mind.

    Do you know the metallurgy thing you usually do? I’ve bought the purple PM 3 cruwear off eBay and wanted to check if it’s legit. I took it to get the metals tested but I’m not sure what it should be. Help?

    At the price level, and as iconic as the pm2 is…and considering how it was awaited…they should not have released with the weak scale and the gap… I don’t have ocd and that did turn me off

      To each their own, I was actually curious if the g10 one had the same flaw of flexing there and it actually does if you press there, I just think it is more noticeable in the Micarta PM2, hopefully they address it in a CQI and make everyone happy, for me I don’t care so much about the rest of the knife. For me it was all about the Cruwear steel

      @@allthingsknives cruwear is great! Handle is important in a knife, though, and very prominent in pm2 design… the fat carbon scale barely flexes in the lock tab area, and it doesn’t feel cheap… so probably best material next to titanium for pm2 scales… I run lava flow pm2 as the main beater and it does well at it…I’ll wait for a crucarta manix2… just don’t enjoy the g10, titanium is cold… but love carbon and micarta handles…

    • @allthingsknives
      @allthingsknives  2 роки тому

      @@cordobadebear try the g10 as well, they will all have some flex, Micarta just exacerbates this flaw

      @@allthingsknives that’s why I don’t like pm2 in g10… with inset liners design it doesn’t work for pm2 for me…better than the micarta, though… so that’s why I like the fat carbon, it has no give, nice and stiff and strong… and they feel better than titanium or other metal… I don’t have sweaty hands, so I like a smoother handle, I switched scales on manix2 for flytanium cf raindrop scales and loving it… cruwear, depending on heat treat, may be at oar or even a little tougher than m4, but edge retention cannot be beaten… I don’t care for corrosion resistance too much, unless it’s on stylish blade… still, cruwear manix2 with micarta production would be great… but some nice micarta, not just the thin refried beans… green, red, blue, purple…

      @@cordobadebear The only time that area flexes in used really is during use of the compression lock- it's not a great deal of pressure and to be frank, the steel gives more than the micarta there. Given the type of material and the way that the force is being applied, you might see it start to break down with time, decades and such. It's a fabric after all. I figure it will last as well, if not better, than my grandfather's WWII bomber jacket that I still use occasionally. I mean the biggest difference between FRN and Micarta is the base material is a flexible rough fabric rather than fiberglass. It should be nearly as durable in general, but more resilient to flexing forces. Just a reminder, just because something "can flex" doesn't mean it is less resilient than something that doesn't.

    Not your average edc said she's having trouble with spyderco cruwear needing sharpen every day. Have u been having any issues with it not staying sharp?

    • @jermainesanchez713
      @jermainesanchez713 2 роки тому +2

      Well, the problem here is that every spyderco model that has come out in cruwear ran a little different in hrc, the new crucarta version is ran harder than previous cruwear models, similar to the adamas from benchmade. It might be that the seki city spyderco’s cruwear is ran softer, she has a delica 4 so its a seki model.
      Its the same way with k390 but the seki’s r run harder than the sprints pm2/p3 that came out in k390 a while back.

      Cruwear also Strops back very well so I don’t know why she is sharpening everyday, I used mine during Christmas time working retail, so I am very confident of the edge holding abilities of Cruwear and it’s ability to strop back even at 61.5 HRC which my DLT para 3 and manix 2 are averaged at. The harder Cruwear burrs up super fast on diamond plates takes maybe 10 minutes to sharpen

      @@allthingsknives its a delica 4 with cruwear made in seki city Japan.. she says its dulling out every day with the tasks she's doing but doing the same things with s30v and not having to sharpen daily.. I was wondering if Japanese cruwear is a different heat treat than what the American made spyderco is using
