- My friends made a ridiculously large bet based on if this Sony A7IV spec was true or not LOL. Camera story time. Then we talk about the Olympus EM1 III, not the OM1 with the Panasonic Leica 100-400mm and the Olympus 60mm f2.8 macro I tested out for wildlife.

Not want to kill the story but you have a a7IV right why not just look on the inside of the door it states the formats of the cards. Fun story on the useful level this means you can do all the video formats to dual cards or even 4 files with proxy's on SD uhs-2 cards. As far as i know they have no express-a only shots all are dual even in the card readers.
@@scb2scb2 I had an a7siii at the time. I bought an a7iv shortly after and I can confirm it has a dual cf express and sd card slot.

Got a A7iv to go with my a7siii and yes it was a smart decision. Boring but smart. I use it way more now for photography though so that’s a plus. Can’t beat it as a B can and didn’t have to buy any new lenses like you said. I was strongly considering a canon for photography but the price of canon lenses just turned me away.
I fall in the same boat. I've had an a7iv times and have returned it. I kind of want a a7c but more like a a7c ii with the new menu system and a front dial.
Except the A7iv has a 7K sensor downsampled to 4K image. Which gives a sharper image for video, than the A7Siii which has a 6K sensor downsampled to 4K image.

@@SuperJoePardo mine has never overheated and that’s why you have it as a B cam to use for certain shots. Let’s be honest no one that watches a video that isn’t into cameras goes holy shit look how bad that rolling shutter is.

I currently have the Leica 100-400 on my Lumix G95. As a wildlife stills photographer who now dabbles a little in video, I’ve been tossing up the idea of upgrading to the OM-1, but will probably wait a few more months in hope that Panasonic announces a G9 successor. Good to know the OM-1 works well with my existing lens. Thanks

Be sure and download and use the latest OMDS Flat and Log400 profile LUTs for the OM-1. They are different than the ones that Olympus supplied for the E-M1iii. Also, the LUT for the 8 bit H.264 files is different than for the H.265 10 bit files. I edited lots of 8 and 10 bit OM-1 slow motion files from the OM-1 that all still looked a little flat after using the old E-M1.iii LUT. I mistakenly assumed they were the same. OMDS implies the new LUT is for Resolve only but it worked fine for me in Power Director as well.
I love the 300 F4, can't wait to add it to my bag.

Macro requires very high f-stops to get any reasonable amount of the subject in focus - f16 at least - typically. What f-stop were you using with the bee? (Luv the vids - thanks)

I like shooting macros and I've owned quite a few cameras/macro lenses .. and you're right, Olympus 60mm macro is very high up there. Small and light but produces magic.

@@kapilesh14 Yeah! With a setup like that you can take photos of grains of sand , snowflakes and bugs eyes :D .Olympus is pretty awesome on this thing since you can do focus stacking and bracketing in camera so you have big DoF everything in focus.

I don't understand upgrading from a7III to a7IV. It's just a few features and I use mine with mostly manual lenses anyway.
If you like macro and you have the Fuji 50-140 buy the Fuji 16 macro extension tube it’s like $100 and you can get some cool macro shoots with that combo.

Interesting, if my panasonic g85 has 2x teleconversion mode, and with 7$ 135mm lens I'l get cheepest and lightest full HD 600mm. Does Sony a7iv can 4x crop mode to match theese?

I would love to get your thought on camera purchase. What is the best max $2k camera for UA-cam videos with static talking head and product reviews? Looking new camera to replace my Canon 550D (Rebel T2i). Panasonic S5 looks perfect option with full frame cinema magic but will it ever focus to anything? Canon R7 would be top-of-the-line APS-C option with expensive RF lenses and probably would spend another 2k for a new computer that can actually edit the 10bit video files. Sony ZV-E10 feels just right and has probably all I would ever need. But lacking EVF, IBIS and my mind knows it's already old tech. And there's A7 III / A7C also in $2k range. Feels like whatever I choose it will be a disapointing compromise so maybe just stick with 550D, enjoy it's soft video and call it cinema?
Depend if you need stabilization or not .. if you just do talking head video in a studio/room, the camera will stay on a tripod 99% of the time, so in that case, all you need is good autofocus and a fast wide angle lens, so the ZVE10 and the 15mm 1.4 is perfect for that job. If you want to bring the camera outside for vlogging, that's a bit more complicated but overall I think the best camera (in your budget) to do both talking head video and vlogg is the EM1 Mark III.
@@JetBen555 Good points. It would be 99% for studio setup (video and product photos), but sometimes (very very rarely) would need camera to take photos on live events. For that reason evf and ibis would be nice features although I am pretty sure I could cope without them.
@Loosevelt True. Perhaps will delay my decision to end of year to see what comes out. High-end APS-C from Sony to replace A6600 would be something interesting.

@@Ranteessa IBIS is nice for photography but its not required, especially if your lens is fast and your shutter speed is fast too (so depend if you shoot in low light or not). So maybe you should get an A6400 instead, that one has an EVF but .. if you really want IBIS tho, the A6600 got you covered plus you get the bigger battery!
The R7 sound good on paper too but fast RF glass are criminally expensive!!! Where as with Sony APSC there's a ton of fast glass for pretty cheap.

I have the a74 and without looking or thinking about it I'm pretty sure it's only SD in both slots lol.
For the August release of the manual, Sony refused to modify what last October's release flatly stated: "Slot 1 supports both CFexpress Type A memory cards and SD memory cards. Slot 2 supports SD memory cards only." Not only that, but the camera's screen itself at "Rec. Media Settings" shows the logo for both CF-A and SD type II cards for slot 1, and only the SD type II logo for slot 2, so Sony is fully committed to this deception. There must be a ton of youtube videos complaining about it, no?

So, what did Dice buy? And isn't it true that any CF-A card slot can also take SD cards (though not the reverse)? If so, that was the dumbest bet ever.
It ended up being a false purchase. An Olympus TG 5 or something for $1 on ebay, but it got cancelled. I think Sony is the only one using CF-A cards, and all those slots happen to be dual CF-A/SD so ya lol.
at least the ones sony uses i bet they are all the ones with pins on both sides one for sd and the other for expres-a.
