Lilly came to live with me just over 12 months ago. A 4 yr old ex-racer who had 2 failed homes before me. We had some issues at first, mainly separation induced (not surprising given her history). She is now the sweetest, most affectionate and hilariously funny dog I have known.. We plan to be away road tripping in 2024. Can't wait. Thank you for the inspiration xx
That is lovely Lilly sounds so sweet! They just need people with the patience and love to work through any issues, no one is perfect be it human or dog! Lucky she found you 🤗 xx
It’s true, she’s knows exactly what she what’s and it’s not to go out in the rain! It’s so hard not giving her food but I don’t want to kill her with kindness either 🫣
Lovely video Tori and Nancy and to see the beautiful scenery of Cornwall as the seasons start to change! And really helpful to see the practical side of life with a gorgeous long dog! 🐕 Planning the arrival of my first rescue sighthound and trying to decide between a greyhound and lurcher, it does make me wonder if a greyhound might be a bit less keen on being dragged out on a nice long walk?!
Thank you we are glad you enjoyed it! Very exciting you’re getting a rescue sighthound. With a lurcher I think it just totally depends on their heritage, if they are sighthound mixed with gsd or terrier or anything not a sighthound (and some have very mixed heritage!) they tends to have characteristics of all those dogs so they definitely can be keener on rain or have more stamina for instance. But if you got a lurcher that was greyhound mixed with another sighthound they might be more like Nancy and rain adverse! She personally does long walks with me (let’s say 1.5-3 hrs) regularly but mainly over winter as she doesn’t like it too hot. If you are particular keen on long walks in the rain a greyhound might not be ideal 😂 some of the rescues are amazing at matching you up with a sighthound that will fit in with your lifestyle though so I am sure you will find the right dog for you!
Thanks! Yep, just doing as much research as I can at the mo but agree about the lurcher mix. And the vids are really helpful (as well as lovely to watch!) Miss Nancy definitely flies the flag for greyhounds though! Every dog has its day!😊
I used to spend so long looking at dogs ‘profiles’ on adoption sights it really is amazing how different they are, Miss Nancy loves her lurched and greyhounds friends! 🙏 thank you I am glad because I think she’s such a good girl and eve ry time I see any other greyhound ai know now how much love they can take, they all deserve a special home! 🐕

I sympathise with you. What a lovely break! Cornwall was one of the biggest mining areas in the world, back in the day - crazy times. 🤣The child tether point! +12:05 now Miss Nancy knows that Mine is Yours too 😉holding tasty food an inch from her nose, in her personal space, is too much of a test, I think. I've found mimicking what dogs do when they're protecting a favourite toy, is effective, coupled with "Mine" and a better and different(!) reward when they comply - curl you hand around the item and make eye contact with her, until she stops looking at the item (eye contact is at best assertive and at worst aggressive in dogs - although some tolerate it) 😨 I'd never heard of Weeverfish before - they lie almost buried in the sand in shallow water and snatch prey as it comes past. Crocs or similar look like the the answer, as the sharp spines can penetrate thin water shoes. How is she with fireworks, Tori ?
It’s amazing seeing all the old mining ruins, I’ve read they are going to start mining again! Not nice right knowing what is lying in wait in the sand! And even if you wear shoes they can get you when you wade into the water to swim 🙈 now it’s winter maybe my wetsuit boots they have a reasonable sole I think/hope. Miss Nancy and fireworks, not so good. I think it depends how close because the first year she seemed ok, but last year we were at my parents and a house across the street had loads of fireworks and she was terrified it was awful.
