I've noticed a whole lot of people in FFXIV have absolutely stupid and unrealistic expectations. aint nobody going to know the fight on day 1. and even a week later theres still at least 70% of the players who havent cleared or even tried it yet. People have to stop pretending they can demand perfection and omniescence from everyone else.
A note about pushing phases early in part 1: some mechanics will lock the boss into them until they are finished. I had a party that "killed" it during the animation of the second liquefaction/dash combo. He remained at .1% until the dashes completed and then the phase transitioned.
Yeah that can be annoying but good news is the bits go of shorty after the aoe starts so there's time to dodge them. My advice would be after the aoe goes off in the centre move towards the centre from the safezone if you have a bit on you as that's safe after the fist aoe goes off.
The center is always safe after the first explosion. you dont really need to "bait" the bits away like so many people say. there is a time delay between the line aoe and the explosion. you can be in the safe spot and just step forward to avoid with a small minimal side step once in the center if needed. the "baiting" mechanic is really not necessary at all.
I second Jarrin's explanation. there's absolutely no reason to 'bait the lasers' all you need to do is walk into the hitbox/explosion after the first hit goes off. the lasers always go off AFTER that explosion so even if theres a line right in front of you you have time to move to a safe space inside the hit box. there's miles of free space. baiting and moving anywhere BUT into the hitbox is overly complicating a simple mechanic
@@fencingkitty9166 It's exactly when people insist on not doing a TINY effort to bait lasers in groups where people arent used to that movement which will wipe and wipe for no reason, only becuase people were too lazy to move an inch away from where they need to be for helioclaw for a second. its SO easy to bait lasers, there is no excuse. its just the easier, safer strat and you lose no uptime if you do it correctly.
Good guide as always but there are 2 easier strats i wanted to compare with the ones i've been using in PF since the release : - Helicoclaw where everyone gather to the intersection of 2 of the circles, wait for lasers, move to the left, repeat - Meteors where you totally do not care about clockwork, only n°8 who put their meteor mark closer to the boss. Everyone wait then hide behind that, then move before it explodes.
A VERY VERY easy way to dodge Helioclaw is to stand at the crack between 2 AOEs and once the the Magitek Bit lasers targets go out just move left. The more people who stack at the notch of the AOEs the better the chance to bait the Magitek Bit lasers. If there's a laser to the left where your safe spot is, you'll just have to adjust accordingly. I've seen so many people die to this mechanic when it is super easy to dodge.
Quick comment on the Phase 1 enrage. He can actually do another Ruby Dynamics/Cut and Run if the DPS is low, and will hard enrage following that. He can also enrage early if he gets down to 5% health during a Stamp/Optimized Ultima phase, most frequently following second Flexiclaw phase.
Cionyl I've seen ppl lying on the ground for most of the time and was hard carried through by others. They call themselves "cleared" but they just fool themselves. If the DPS check is something serious these ppl will never get the kill. e.g. E8S at week one
A trick I found out for Ravensflight Claw 1 (outside danger, then inside danger) - the safe spot for the Claw dash after the ground liquefaction is flipped will always be North or South, opposite from the middle-safe spot. Squeeze to one side to dodge the claw, then cross the boss' dash line and go to whichever of North/South marker is on that side. It's been completely consistent for me, so hopefully it makes it easier to have most of the aprty live that part!
Stand in the gap between the two circle aoes to bait the magitek bit, then just move directly left and you’ll be safe everytime. Try to find your own spot to do it because 90% of people don’t bait the Magitek bits and can make the safe spot really tight
With magitek lines, it's better to stack at either left or right with full party so it doesn't matter who's targeted, they all converge on one spot and they're easier to dodge that way. Also with magitek and claw, it's best to bait magitek rays on the lines first, then move clockwise to a safespot
Long time watcher of your videos. They're so informative, organized and concise! Why is this one so quiet, though? The audio seems so much lower than normal. Keep up the good work!

@@Commanderflynn This guide didn't go over any of the ways to bait the lasers though. Unless I'm mistaken and just didn't pay attention. I've seen people bait between the circles cracks. I've seen baits on the lines themselves. And Idk if any of those are correct.
@@asaltylapis4316 true, I'd assume most will at least watch and see how they're baited and will most likely copy it just from video evidence. I personally dint see a point in baiting, theres enough room and time to move into the middle after the explosion and avoid the lasers and move out to repeat
This. I found it really hard to tell how they are baiting it in this video. Even after rewinding it multiple times. And it seems to be different than another video I watched first. It always ended up that someone would bait a lazer straight through other peoples safe zone and leave them no wherw to stand
During Ravensflight1 and Ravensflight2 in phase 1, he doesn't go to a random spot. He always goes North. So DPS can stand at North to not lose and GCDs after he dashes.
Tip: if he moves left to quick sand you go left, if he moves right to quick sand you go right for first claw phase! 63 runs later 😂 must have my dragon!
Also in phase 1: if you group doesnt get make it to 5% then he will do another tank buster, healer split , raid wide, then enrage I beleive? Might be 1 more tb or ruby ray aswell but I dont recall :)
For bits/swirly aoes you should stack them as a group between 2 circles and move clockwise. Having people wing it based on where there are does NOT work in PF especially groups where a guide is needed. Unless the positioning is done correctly on every side someone will lose their safe spot. Its easier, and safer, to stack the aoes. Otherwise great guide!
I like your strats the first moment i saw you group doing it. It is really easy an make them 100% more predictable. Same like hades ex broken faith cheese strat, many will love stacking those lines in the end.
@@zephartempest4592 i think comparing it to hades cheese is unfair. No one gets a vuln stack here AND melee can keep up uptime. Even more of a reason for it to be the preferred strat.
Just throwing this out there, almost no one actually does the rotation for the first phase (to maintain uptime for melee), and the enrage dps check is very forgiving, so you don't need to try to squeeze that much dps out. It's much easier for everyone to just pick whichever spot they feel like (you don't need to have all melee/ranged on the same setup) and just not rotate. Source: I've been running this fight all week and almost no one does rotation in pugs. Also note, in phase 2, the comets that the tanks catch do a LOT of damage, so I'd suggest using more than one cooldown (stuff like PLD invuln. DOES work on this, buying your healers some breathing room so they don't have to spam heal your right away). The boss doesn't use tankbusters aside from the 2 adds + comets, so no reason to save them (the AE healing on the party will top you up from the auto attacks).
Cut and run is always the move that almost nearly wipes my party whenever I use PF. People panic and and lose track of their positions and everyone gets nuked. =/
I personally found baiting the bits unnecessary. It helps, but the groups I have done this with did it slightly differently. You have enough time after the first explosion of Helioclaw to move into them giving you the entire hit box of ruby to work with. Then just move out and prepare for the second set.
It's best to bait the bits when you pug. Not alot of people do the strat your talking about and they wont be happy if you do this strat and don't bait the bits as a result. It's good to keep this strat in mind though for when someone else doesn't bait correctly as it's handy to fall back on if there's a bit in your safezone.
Please increase volume of your mic. I would rather it be loud than low. I can always turn down the video. Thank you! Love your videos. Note: I think this may have been a youtube change. But please increase mic volume for future vids. :D

ye ive been in those and my first group ended up with 4 people on one crack several times and idk how claiming they follow the instructions. the slight dps lost from a melee standing on one of the long cracks is worth it to not see randoms fuck up
man I’d love to try this trial but I feel like as soon as I join everyone will hate on me for not knowing the mechanics haha or at least thats how hades ex went
Overall a decent guide, but there are a couple of things I noticed. 1. ravensclaw: it's not really worth it to rotate so long as you don't have more than 2 melee, the dps checks are so easy here that you don't need max uptime. you're only missing like 2 or 3 gcds by taking the long one anyways, all rotating is doing is making everything needlessly complicated. 2. I didn't quite understand the way you explained the dash after the quicksand switches in ravensflight (and also the boss doesn't really fly to a random edge, it appears to always start north), so I'll take a go at it for anyone else who doesn't get it. From my own static's experience, when the phase starts, look at what side of the boss the quicksand marker is, E/W. when he gets south, pay attention to what side his claw is on. if He has his east claw out and the marker is also in the east, you have to dodge south. same for if both are west. However, if the marker is east and his claw is west, you need to dodge north. again, same for west marker and east claw. ( imgur.com/a/tG9aV7j ) 3. Unless your healers are good at their job, I'd recommend putting the meteors in p2 farther back. splash damage hurts, especially if your healers are already having trouble. (and again, you don't need max uptime here, you get lb3 and it's hard to get beyond soft enrage) Hope what I said helps someone out there, random denizens of the internet TLDR: Rotating for ravensclaw is stupid, Boss always jumps north for ravensflight (and melee can pre position north for a couple seconds more uptime if that's your thing), and same side run south, opposite side run north. Splash damage hurts a lot, and uptime doesn't really matter
An easy tip for this: if you're on a short crack, run back to the wall and you're safe. If you're on a long crack, stand right up on the bosses hitbox (make sure to stay out of the center AE though) and you're safe.
Only thing I super dislike about this guide is the lack of clear meteor placement. Coulda just said something along the lines of 1-4 = 1-4 and A-D = 5-8.
That's just another method of doing it. You can either do it that way (1-4=1-4) or place meteors on the same positions as pase 1 with the 8th meteor being in melee range. Wish both methods were mentioned in the video so that people knew of the 2 methods and the group can vote which method they prefer. I personally find it easier to do the method mentioned in the video but I know some people prefer the way you mentioned
I noticed you using Goring Blade. Is it even worth using? I was on the lawns not long after 5.0 and my % remaining dropped by like 6% not using Goring Blade.
This is an old comment, but what the actual f? You're supposed to always have it up. goring blade combo (pop FnF before the final hit) > atonement combo (or 2 royal authority combos if below lv76) > goring blade combo (last hit should happen before FnF ends) > requiescat magic combo > goring blade combo > atonement combo (or 2 royal authority combos if below lv76) > repeat
WHAT THE HELL?! this boss is fraging crazy not to mention the boss is a cacoon????? Was this the case in 7? Also so many Insta kill stuff that I ain't a fan of since e4n has me not having fun with tanking due to hiting hard beyond belief
While not savage where I encountered this, the comet like attack on the second phase, Meteor mk2 where the tanks intercept them... On normal, I unfortunately had to take one because first timers and there were 4 comets... However the one I intercepted was invisible, untargetable but I still had the ‘Atlas’ debuff showing I was holding it. When the duration expired I died immediately but nothing else happened to the party? I wish to mention this on the off chance it happens in savage as well.
I pretty much always PF stuff, i'm just a couple ilvls below being able to yet however - how bad are the PFs for this? The mechanics really don't look very hard at all
This was the first EX fight I cleared legit (not counting stuff like Ifrit as a level 80) and I found it really forgiving. You can come back from near-wipes during phase 1 if you have enough damage and phase 2 is just plain easy.
I was actually going to say that because we had a tank drop a meteor and literally no one died. Then the Dalamud falling wiped the entire party from full health with Shields. I'm not sure if it give the boss an invisible buff if the comet gets dropped
Even if the party survives a comet exploding, killing the comet is what depletes the Dalamud bar. If the bar isn't at 0, Dalamud falling is an instant wipe, so both comets always have to be killed.
Very nice guide ! Tho I'd love if you could just leave a few seconds between some explanations ^^ It's kinda overwhelming to listen to. Don't get me wrong, it's very well explained ! But from a viewer perspective i feel kinda out of breath (if that makes sense) watching the video ^^ Otherwise, great job on the video ^^

However, if the marker is east and his claw is west, you need to dodge north. again, same for west marker and east claw. ( imgur.com/a/tG9aV7j )
3. Unless your healers are good at their job, I'd recommend putting the meteors in p2 farther back. splash damage hurts, especially if your healers are already having trouble. (and again, you don't need max uptime here, you get lb3 and it's hard to get beyond soft enrage)
Hope what I said helps someone out there, random denizens of the internet
TLDR: Rotating for ravensclaw is stupid, Boss always jumps north for ravensflight (and melee can pre position north for a couple seconds more uptime if that's your thing), and same side run south, opposite side run north. Splash damage hurts a lot, and uptime doesn't really matter
All this time I thought the explosion when the cracks formed were Random and not centered on the tips of the cracks

Where did you get your weapons from?
Alexander (Ultimate)
I noticed you using Goring Blade. Is it even worth using? I was on the lawns not long after 5.0 and my % remaining dropped by like 6% not using Goring Blade.
This is an old comment, but what the actual f? You're supposed to always have it up.
goring blade combo (pop FnF before the final hit) > atonement combo (or 2 royal authority combos if below lv76) > goring blade combo (last hit should happen before FnF ends) > requiescat magic combo > goring blade combo > atonement combo (or 2 royal authority combos if below lv76) > repeat
how can i join their raid grp
WHAT THE HELL?! this boss is fraging crazy not to mention the boss is a cacoon????? Was this the case in 7? Also so many Insta kill stuff that I ain't a fan of since e4n has me not having fun with tanking due to hiting hard beyond belief
iron chariots is IMPOSSIBLE to dodge
Thank you , ur video help me farm the totem haha
That huge potato mouse 😆. I have small hands tho
Lmao had trouble with the ruby weapon in normal mode now savage looks intense to beat.
ORANGE?! its reddddddd
I pretty much always PF stuff, i'm just a couple ilvls below being able to yet however - how bad are the PFs for this?
The mechanics really don't look very hard at all
a decent pf can turn from "progress" to then doing additional clears afterwards very easily. this fight is a joke tbh.
I always find good players in pf, it just matter of time... Good luck ✌🙂
This was the first EX fight I cleared legit (not counting stuff like Ifrit as a level 80) and I found it really forgiving. You can come back from near-wipes during phase 1 if you have enough damage and phase 2 is just plain easy.
45 clears trough PF since Thursday of the patch week is all u need as answer right ?
To be fair: No Ex-Trial is particularly hard if everyone knows what to do. Without these guides its however another thing to learn these mechanics.

What PLD weapon is that? It looks awesome.
The new weapon from the TEA ultimate raid
the first half looked so fun, then the second half looked like such a drag... why cant they just leave it fun
It's possible to survive a tank comet drop with enough mitigation. I wonder if this will become an uptime pug strat in the future
@@punjoke9617 oh shit that makes sense. Thanks
I'm watching this wondering how the fuck am i gunna do this..... ugh anyone else feel the same way?
Very nice guide ! Tho I'd love if you could just leave a few seconds between some explanations ^^
It's kinda overwhelming to listen to. Don't get me wrong, it's very well explained ! But from a viewer perspective i feel kinda out of breath (if that makes sense) watching the video ^^
Otherwise, great job on the video ^^
can just pause the video, I would rather she not make the video slower and longer, this is coming from the perspective of someone that prefers short and fast videos.
....you know maybe that ruby gunblade isnt worth it after all
why is she so quiet?
as necessary
We need savage guidessssss
*Sees tea weapon*
Tea guide pweeeese
Ilya Dalamiq 's got an extremely in depth one. It lasts a whole hour and a half though.
@@commentingchannel9776 i saw it but mizzteq's guides have always been easier to digest
I think this is too complicated for me =/
great guide but one problem.. this will NEVER work in a blueberry run, a static yes but blueberry.. fuck no
Mine craft on a whole new level.
Dat shilling tho...
