Doctor Manhattan the departed is one of the best movies ever made league's above internal affairs that was very poor hence the low rating it got compared to this movie!
Just to be clear it's a racial slur about people of Italian heritage en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_ethnic_slurs It's a mix of an old idiom about spilled milk and a racial slur.
Didn't realize that bill's father work at the airport. This reinforces the movie idea about the departed, the ones that go away, since an airport is a plaxe full of departures and people going away. There's a scene where frank and French kill a couple and there's an airplane flying, implying people dying are going away.
Ive read tons of theories on this movie Seen it like 50 times over the last decade and mevere thought/heard/or read this point of view. Well done Excellent observation and deduction skills ....seriously. Brava.
The Chinese original had an immaculate structure, like a greek tragedy. Scorsese's take is more violent, more interwoven and chaotic and excessive like King Lear but tuned up with his panache for pure goddamn violence.
Is putting the word “Fuckin” in the middle of another word a regular Boston thing? Because you hear it quite a bit in this movie; Whooptifuckindoo, Hurradifuckindah, Contrafuckinband, etc. 😂
Frank Costello is the biggest mob boss in the region, the police wants him caught but does not have evidence against him. Coleen Sullivan was an orphan raised by Frank when he was a kid and he was like a father to him, Frank knows the police is after him therefore Coleen grows up to become a cop who was always holding the police back from Frank and sends information to him. Billy Costigan trained to be a cop and not be like the rest of his family but precisely because of their past the police won't make him a cop. Because of his father and uncle's connection to the underworld the police department decide to send Billy on a mission as an informer, so he could get close to Frank and then betray him. What exactly was so hard to understand?
Costello's hitting the table not his arm and he's screaming in pain, you think that would have given him enough suspicion to know Billy is with the police, he can scream like that means he's acting just as good as that I'm disappointed Frank
Al Pacino was originally meant to play Costello. I think that would have made the movie way better. I love Jack, but I wasn't feeling him in this movie.
Dr kevorkian Jack Nicholson phoning in shitty performances before he retired was pretty played out, too. It says a lot when Leonardo DiCaprio has to over act to carry Jack's role. He brought no real substance to the character.
To respond to your comment which was deleted by youtube, why are you so salty? It's cuz I understand that a few hundred/thousand dollars isn't even enough to treat the damage that Costello actions would realistically inflict on a broken arm? Just how uneducated are you?
I love how Frank counts a few bills to give and just ends up throwing in the whole wad to Billy
One thing I'll say about Jack, he fucking owns the screen when he's on it.
Depends on the movie
@@violentbryan21 ehh.. not really. There’s a magnetism about him. Jack has crazy screen presence.

@@dociebiemowie915 No. He overacts and behaves like a clown often

The little grin he does after delivering the line “let’s not cry over spilled Guinea’s” is fucking cold.
Jack Nicholson is such a badass in this movie. Charming and unhinged but with a touch of civility. Great role!
I think he was the best Joker too ...
He was fucking terrible in this movie. 😂
vzgsxr He was great.
vzgsxr wait to comment until your sober.. when you do it drunk you can say dumb shit like that
What are you talking about ?? He’s a badass in EVERYTHING
Jack Nicholson might be the coolest mob boss ever lol. He’s so insane it’s great.
It’s because he’s a real gangster. The man hung out with Putin for Christ sake. You can Google it.

The Departed has better acting compared to Internal Affair and I'm a huge Andy Lau fan
Legendary Niwatori it's a big bag of wank

Single most threatening line in the WHOLE movie
Lol "Im SAYING he worked at the airport."
Jack is the boss! Such a versatile actor with a commanding voice👍🏼
Let's not cry over spilled guineas.
Greatest line ever.
@Awkward Gecko It's referring to Guinness beer
Isn't he referring to the "guineas" as in italians who want to kill DiCaprio's character. As in their blood will be spilled.
@Awkward Gecko Lmao no one gets a joke on UA-cam

This scene is more interesting if you subscribe to the theory that Billy is actually Costello's son
There's part of the original script, that was cut out, in which it's explained that Costello is actually Collin's Godfather.
