I really wish that Fusion radios had the gps nearest repeater function like the icom id5100a. That is a necessary function in my opinion. 73's KD9JEO

Can I access rooms/groups make long distant contacts by calling up a local fusion repeater without using a hotspot & internet? Just passed my exam, interested in digital modes but I don't even own a computer anymore.
Question can be answered honestly in many ways. If the Fusion repeater is on the WIRES-X with a node possibly. Most use DVMEGA or another access point to contact Reflectors and Rooms available in to WIRES-X. But short answer is if the repeater is not a node then not possible.

I'm clear on a of it now. I just didn't understand the difference between Fusion repeaters, wires X, etc. Most of everything I found when starting delt with using wifi & wires x.
Digital has advantage in weak signal area

The yaesu radios do digital and analog. Dmr, p25, and dstar are stupid.

I have just purchased a Yaesu 991a and tried out the system Fusion, C4FM and Wires-X. Believe me it all SUCKS! Big time! If I had purchased the 991a for digital modes, I would have sent it right back. I was under the impression that digital mode would provide clear, crisp audio--not the case by a long shot. Where the hell do you get off calling it crystal clear? In the digital mode the other Ham's voices sound muffled, muddled, and they sound like computer generated voices. You guys have a long way to go before I consider digital as a means of communication. FM, SSB and even AM sound 100% better than digital. I am very disappointed in the digital mode to say the least. And, yes, I bought my radio from GigaParts with the MARS mod done. I was considering an ICOM 7300 but I heard their digital mode (D-STAR = Death Star) l is worse than Fusion.
