I'm a 35-year old metal/rock fan and I love them because of the believable aggression and the mature vibe. Being the age I am, I don't want to be watching a group of teenagers playing "badass"... I also appreciate the instrumentation in Monsta X's songs, they add a bit of old school/classic flair that I love. These guys kick a** with a mature elegance .

Hi. Thanks for the love for MX. if you do a review of their English albums (2 so far), be mindful of the copyright police. It’s mainly their us label than starship that cause the strikes. Their 1st one is the main one that gets strikes the most than the 2nd one. Just a warning on that.
Hopefully you can view a guide on them and more of their group and solo activities to get more familiar with each of the members.
Also, one of the members, Wonho, left the group so you will see him in the early vids. He’s since gone solo and I hope you will view his work as well 😊

I agree that the somewhat relentless pace of the song really fits the lyrics and I rlly like that. Also Monsta X actually has a bunch of songs that deal with the more toxic/ugly parts of relationships and love--I'd say alligator and shoot out that you checked out before fall under that category, but also definitely their title tracks Jealousy and Beautiful and then Misbehave from their first english album--so it's an ongoing theme it seems 😂

Yes! Beautiful Liar's Lyrics are not the only one that talk about a toxic relationship, the song also mimics that lack of pay off but continuous beat. Which is exactly what causes that ENCANTATION that you mentioned! 🤩 Beautiful Liar is a song you really cant just listen to one time. It is addicting, the lack of drops and the driving beat make you want to play it over and over again to get that satisfaction out of it. JUST LIKE THEY SING ABOUT THE TOXIC RELATIONSHIP COMMING BACK FOR MORE. 🤩 I think it is genius artistry! Even people that don't fall for Beautiful Liar in the first listen will comment how that song sneaked up at them and how much more they play it than they thought they would. Glad you liked it man, hope you do come back and do a deep dive on them because their music is really good. Genuinely Amazing!

I am a huge fan of bands like deftones, korn, soad, etc and I feel in love with monsta x because they are MEN! their sound, their vibe, lyrics, everything is amazing, please dive into the discography, they have amazing b-sides and two top tier english albums (the best english releases in kpop)
Monsta X in my top 4 Kpop groups ( EXO…Shinee…TVXQ And Monsta X)❤. Saw them in concert..they were awesome! They have 2 or 3 all English albums…ive got two of them!
”I just have no concept of time anymore” is the most relatable sentiment ever 😅 like not long ago someone called dna an older bts song and I had a whole existential crisis when I realized it came out seven(!) years ago.
But yeah on the whole “they’re men” thing they are like the 3rd gen's version of 2pm. No-one else is really doing the whole manly, macho concept outside of them atm and it feels really nice after most of the others who are trying to appear kinda boyish.
Kpop moves so fast that 7 years does become "old" weirdly enough. But not in the grand scheme of things!
I also appreciate that Monsta X is an older group. You mentioned that they sound more like men and I think that is partly because they were older for Kpop when they debuted. It was weird to hear them saying in the show that created the group that some of the members felt they were getting too old to debut at the ripe old ages of 18-21, but the reality is that youth is very much prized in Kpop. However, I really feel that extra time gave them a better handle on who they were and what kind of music they wanted to make.

The production of this song is so intentional. The song is about an inescapable and unrelenting love trap and they made the song the same way, you get no relief and then are confused when it ends abruptly. It's an addictive unrelenting constant fight that you can't help but enjoy!
Monsta X are the kings of toxic love songs. Speaking of enjoying relationship fights, you would love their English song Misbehave from their All About Luv album! Honestly the whole album is amazing you should just do an album listen lol Their whole discography is all bops no misses

Thanx for the video, and I loved your take on the song. Definitely about enjoying or needing toxicity. They have an English song called Misbehave, and one of my favorite lines is "I'd be dying if I didn't love this pain", but that's a baby making song not a rockier song. Thanx again.

this song has such a crazy structure. it's not very short but they only have 2 choruses, cause they went from the 2nd pre-chorus to Joohoney's rap verse and then straight to the bridge 🤯🤯 but it doesn't feel like it since the melody is so chill and continuous
they also start the song with the chorus as the 1st verse haha, so i guess that counts 3

Jooheon changed his name to Joohoney because people kept pronouncing his name with the "e" and he got frustrated. It's one of those weird things I remember watching whenever someone says his name with the "e". No offense intended!
Finally, I just want to say the sheer amount of Monsta X songs out there is insanely intimidating. Whenever I make a playlist, it generally gets taken over by Monsta X even when I try to keep it light and list my absolute favorites. They have a lot of good songs... A LOT.
