Monbebes have been talking about how the structure of the song itself, like the way the third chorus isn't introduced by Kihyun's pre-chorus, and it ends abruptly is symbolic of the sort of gaslighting that happens in a toxic relationship; the song pulls you in, promising you things, and having you anticipate a drop, but it's like a lie, cause the song never really goes there. It's just messing with the listener, making them feel like, "what, no I need more!" at the end of the song.

Also adding one "lie" twist point: They started with really hard rocking guitars, used it for the prechorus too, but the majority and main point of this song is the house? club EDM music
It's the way they did the rush hour rock version and I was like "ok love it so much" and then they came with a gambler rock version on the mbc gayo and I was like "that must definitely be a hint to the comeback come on", and I was right, and I love it so much, and I need that rush hour rock version in the streaming apps too. The whole album is amazing I can always count on Monsta x for quality music, they never let me down.

I still don't understand how Monstax's songs are arranged, it's really unpredictable, every part feels like a chorus, even the rapline aaaaaa ᕙ(⇀‸↼‶)ᕗ

I'm willing to bet that a large part of this was Kihyun's idea, he's always gravitated toward rock when given the choice. And Hyungwon's voice easily lofting up and floating over that chorus is everything.
This comeback feels like all of them combined. The Jooheon arrangement, the Kihyun Rock, the I.M Bass, the Hyungwon haunting yet stunning vocals, the Minhyuk captivating performance and dare I say the Shownu ass styling DAMN

You just perfectly identified why I've been attracted to Monsta X's sound for all these years. Nothing about their music is half-assed.
A lot of monbebes believe that the reason that this mv feels high budget is because of contract renewals. I’m not sure if PD knew but for a few months 3/6 members hadn’t renewed and were in discussions. We believe that Monsta X asked for a higher budget and not only for music videos, we have noticed that starship has promoted this comeback a lot more than previous ones.
So excited for the album reaction! This album is very experimental, even for Monsta X. I’ve seen a lot of mixed opinions about it but personally, I love it!

The whole album is fire & unpredictable too! Monsta X seems to be never lazy with even their b-sides, especially when the members are part of the process. 🔥

Yes, i want to listen to the b-sides as much as the main title track, and with their different vibes and sounds, all the songs have a strong appeal to me (Daydream is oniric and... dark ? ; Crescendo with the rap is soooo lit !! ; Lone Ranger is addictive, i want to do a dance on it, like a cowbow strut line dance ^^, It's alright... well, i love the live stage they gave us, Deny makes me remember their old songs, chill and soft....). They are so wonderful.
I liked how they ocasionally did little subtle change outs for the members. I.M would switch with Hyungwon and Jooheon would switch with Minhyuk. And since the costumes, styling and hair were almost identical for the switches, sometimes you really have to be paying attention to notice them.
My eyes played tricks on me the first time I watched the scene with Kihyun in full black with white background I thought I saw Wonho.
The switch between IM and Hyungwon in that chain room is so seamless ngl it got me confused

yo it took me to my 3rd time watching the mv to realized that in the chain set, it was changkyun - hyungwon shots back to back lol i feel so dumb thinking that it was only changkyun the whole time 🤣🤣
This! This is definitely my favroite release of this year so far. I know its only the middle of January but still... this songs slaps so hard and all the bsides as well... Crescendo, Day Dream and Lone Ranger are soooo good toooo!!
Monsta X are amazing! Top quality always, I just can’t believe they exist! IM and Joohoney duo is EVERYTHING! Kihyun’s angelic voice always! Minhyuk and Hyungwon brought such a sexy feeling to the vocals. Omg
"Flexing constantly," I get that. Watching their comeback stages, I get that sense that they know themselves and are self-assured enough that they can flex in their performances. And each of the members are showing their power. I am loving this golden age of Monsta X. Beautiful Liar is one of those songs that is just under my skin. The meandering structure, galloping rhythm, crazy guitars, the phrasing of the raps, and layered vocals are just staying with me. All the songs on the album are good.
Btw, that sound at the end of the mv reminded me of the clock sound at the end of Minhyuk's Fantasia X trailer, or it could be a door locking/closing.
Is it a venue? A nightmare, a silent and empty venue ? with all these people during the mv who are not acclaiming Mx, but are looking the other way...

One thing I like about Monsta X that they don't care about trends at all. They produce their own music and this is it. It is listener's choice to like them or not but they NEVER give up quality for popularity and for 8 years this is such a risky thing to do however this is what they do 👑👑
I've been listening/following MX since their survival show and this literally hit SO hard for me. I've never replayed a MX song so many times in a while. These guys know how to heighten their sound that MX just ownnnnns. They do not get enough credit.

What I love about this song is how it doesn't follow the usual structures so it surprises you, like you except the chorus but you get a rap instead. Your analysis make me appreciate their songs even more and especially the MV! They never disappoint 😍

Jooheon is a menace honestly. His arrangement on songs is ALWAYS unique and I love the massive wait for the second chorus. I do think we could have gone with a bridge and 3rd chorus but goodness gracious this song has me in a choke hold.

It's my 4th year as a monbebe and becoming one was one of the best decisions that I've ever made. They're very different from other groups. They never follow the trends, they are the trends. Their music is amazing and they always put so much efforts in it. People who don't listen to Monsta X are missing out big time.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't waiting for your reaction 😊. Monsta X always delivers for me and this was no different! Jooheon, IM, and Hyungwon wrote the lyrics for this. In fact, the three of them had a hand in all the songs in this mini album, except for Daydream. I love that they are moving toward a more self-producing group. It's about time! Also, I'd like to give a little shout out to Minhyuk! It's like someone finally said, show 'em what you've got! Not that he hasn't already (he's amazing), but this is the first title track I've seen him as more up front! ☺

Beautiful Liar was produced by Ryan S. Jhun, Space Primtes. The lyrics are from Joohoney, Hyungwon, I.M, Brother Su, and Kim Eung-ju.
I love this song! It has unusual structure, and the chorus (that many don't like), it's not ordinary and suits this song!
And mv is very stylish!

It's surprising to learn that none of the members were on this title other than lyrics! Just 4 of the b-sides were done by Jooheon, I.M or Hyungwon

This album is SO GOOD
I've been holding on to Beautiful & Jealousy as my favorite MX songs for years now......but Beautiful Lie has finally beaten them to be my #1. 🏆 My only complaint is that I wish there was a little something _more_ at the end. Not another full chorus, but maybe an outro - just 10 or 15 more seconds to make the song feel complete & fulfilling. I agree that the song reminds me of something that I can't quite put my finger on, but it still totally feels authentic to MX.
It is about 30-40 seconds too short for me.
I've almost been more excited for this reaction than for the actual MV haha. This song is so fire.

Defo their golden age. They are indeed flexing how good they are atp. We love them for that. The music video directors/editors are definitely had fun and did their thing in this output. The transitions are so smooth. 🔥

I personally don’t feel like their newer stuff is any better or worse than their older stuff. It’s all just always DIFFERENT, while at the same time being consistently their color. Maybe that’s just because I’m not watching their videos with as critical of an eye, but that’s how I feel. I’m always blown away regardless of when in time we are lol.
idk monsta x has a lot of music videos that are really cool artistically like follow and fantasia come to mind immediately but this one is definitely good!!!

I'm honestly in love with this comeback. This is too good to be true.
At first I had very little expectations because besides Kihyun's EPs the last MX's albums did not vibe with me so much. The same thing happened to me with Ateez Guerrilla album. Loved the title but the bsides weren't my cup of tea (still in awe with Answer and Inception era). I'm delighted to say that this time it's different and both groups served a hot and crazy good meal (Hala hala halaziaa).
In this case I'm happy each MX member had its time to shine with stunning vocals, visuals and choreo. I.M devoured this song with his rap, Hyungwon and Minhyuk voices really stood out to me the most, Kihyun and Jooheon reached another level of badass and confidence. Love the fact that they broke the classic MX song structures like for example the way Minhyuk started the chorus and the Kihyun continued it and the way they made the beat. Wow!!!
I feel overall they're back with another flavour of determination.

I got flashbacks to 2nd gen for some reason, which is my favorite kpop era and omggggggg. I wanted this song to last sooo much longer and have a big drop, but it never came - yet the song is so hypnoticing. That is amazing. One of my favorite beats in a long time, the looks are the best I have seen from them and it got me wanting more.
