Hate is not a Christian virtue. Hate comes from the evil one. Those that commited this heinious act are in a very uncomfortable place for all eternity, and so should that woman join them. I hope it was worth it. Hate is an evil thing.

That's true and that was a horrible injustice, but tens of thousands of black men have killed other black men since then. I don't support racism, but tragedy is tragedy. If that had been a white boy the same age they would not have said nothing, their business closed and wife got a divorce after it was over, she couldn't sleep with her husband after that the sister law stay with her monster with the ball head. I lived in Alabama doing that time and a friend of mine did the same thing, the girl told her mother, she looked at us and drove off, that is what happens when kids stand around a store instead of getting your stuff and leave.

It’s to remind people what has happened. For example, I see young gay people out there criticizing trans people, they don’t realize that just 15 years ago they were hated, could not marry, could not be open, if a politician was to just mention gay marriage it was political suicide.
And now they’re in a position where they have someone to hate and fill like they’re above. I always say, if all Black people were to leave the US, I wonder who would then be next on the totem pole to hate. Believe me, there would be someone. Over in Europe during WW2, they didn’t have many minorities so they found other white people to hate and blame all their problems on.
It’s so funny, the same way gay people are now trashing trans people, Asian and Hispanic people trash black people, not knowing that if Black people weren’t here America would definitely find another group to hate.
I knew racist Middle Easterners during the late 90s and after 911 they got to taste for the first time some of the racism Black people felt. I believe if it wasn’t for 911, Obama would never have been elected. Notice how he had to constantly tell people he wasn’t Muslim or Middle Eastern. Not that he wasn’t Black but that he wasn’t Arab or Muslim because for that brief time, middle Easterners were below black people in the totem pole.

This was a tragic event inour history but i dont believe it deserves a monument. Monuments are meant for people who have changed our country for the better, this only reminds us of how bad our history was. I do think that they should keep the plaque that is already in the city thatthis event happened so that anyone who wants to learn about this can but not a monument. I also feel the same about confederate monuments. They all should be taken down and placed in museum so people who are interested in learning about confederate history but the confederacy didn't do anything to better our country...

In Europe there are a number of monuments remembering the location of historic events that took place during the Holocaust. The reason is 1) a local and often times daily reminder, and 2) a memorial site for the lives lost. Confederate monuments/statues are not memorials they are symbols of reverence to traitors.

See the way I see it is the only way people would do anything for change is by shoving it in everyone’s faces no matter how difficult it is to see it. Now for confederate monuments I think it’ll be better to just put a plaque on it explaining who the person was and why it should be remembered.
