Been there, done that, put a nail through a central heating pipe at my mum's when I was 18 to fix a a squeaky floorboard. Next thing the wallpaper below in the kitchen started to bulge. Was able to fix it myself as had done some basic plumbing for other DIY, but took all night to get the heating (open vented) working again. Haven't made that mistake since, I'm now 51.
I’m just a diy guy and pick up handy hints from you guys (like opening bleed valve when soldering). If I were a plumber, I’d wanna be jobbing about as well, passes the time and I’d find it more interesting. All the best mate, enjoy your videos, keep the content coming.👍

I used to love the verity, First fixing a new build then a bit of jobbing, maybe a solid fuel to oil conversion, there was no gas in NI at the time, the back to second fix the new build, no greater feeling in the world than getting a system filed for the first time and getting everything tested and working. What I did hate were old house renovations that you ended up spending most of the winter in freezing your ballcock off.
Yeh I get that mate and you’re right it is a good feeling when you fire it up first time. I get that feeling on boiler repairs mostly haha. Last year I was on a house renovation freezings my bollox off, remember it well 😢😂😂😂

I find these solder repairs so tricky - best thing i have bought in last few years is a wet vac to suck the pipes dry - and then with 22mm some boy told me i was overheating the fittings and too fast - so the solder was running out... he said build the heat up on the pipes either side of the fitting then finish on the fitting and touch a solder stick to the join... never had a 22mm fail since.
@@Heatking im a leak detection boy with a bathroom background... so heating and boilers are not my main bag.... but i do heating leaks as well... the guy who advised me does gas and soldering every day
16:46 You're more useful to a customer when you take on different jobs like boiler repairs, installs, toilet fixes, emergency call outs, etc.. A company I phoned recently wouldn't come to look at my heating issue because they only do installs now. When I do need a new boiler I won't be ringing them. I'll be giving my business to a plumber like yourself who gives customers a dig out rather than cherry picking what they want to do. Because it’s more beneficial to the customer if they get a company in which does the job like (tiling etc) but I see your point and I don’t blame you for not giving them your work! Completely agree!
Same as you mate, love jobbing about, sacked bathrooms hate them. That call out would be just a normal charge for an existing customer. They show me loyalty I show it back. Make more money that way. The lads that say don’t get out of bed for less than £500 have no customer base.

That almost sounds too cheap... what do others local to you charge... fine line between not taking advantage but covering all your costs and training. If I called a vet out to put my pet to sleep, it would be over £250..... and it's a lot easier than what you've just done!

@@Heatking I have seen a US plumber adding a bleeder right by the soldering work. The most similar-looking part that I can see in the UK is an "air vent cap". Just a thought.
So I'm not being sexist mate but woman are the worst for breaking toilets. My missus has puled our toilet seat off more than once. She'll lean over towards the basin to clean her teeth while sitting on the loo and of course it pulls the seat to one side. Or she'll kick off her boots or trousers while sitting there and it all goes to loosen the seat. It wouldn't be a big deal but it's one of those pans that fits against the wall with all pipes and access hidden. It seemed like a good idea at the time for neatness and easy cleaning. So it has to come out every time to screw the hinge back on. It's off again now but this time I'm going to use thread seal on the bolt and glue the hinge. So the pan will probably break next time. As for your call out it sounded to me that the lady had tried a little DIY drilled through the pipe and was blaming her poor husband who at the time was having a quiet drink down the pub after a hard day. I would have gone in there, wrapped chewing gum around the screws, tightened them up and wrapped it all with insulation tape and put the floor boards back down. I would have charged £795.21 for the job plus GAT (Glen's added tax) and would have given a no quibble 14 minute money back guarantee. I would have then used the money for a couple of days break in Spain. Am loving the vids, happy new year mate.

I would have just used a compression fitting on that last straight joint seeing there was no visible vent for the pressure
