My great-grandfather, a German immigrant, built a sod dugout house when he arrived in the Nebraska territory. As a child in the late 50s, I visited the ranch and saw the remnants of that first home. While going through the ruins, my father found an old pump handle, likely used by my great-grandfather, which I now have hanging on my back porch as a reminder of my roots.
Those old photos really do feel like windows into another world. Imagine if we had snapshots of ancient civilizations-it would be amazing to see how people lived, worked, and celebrated thousands of years ago! thank for sharing
I'm in Cottonwood AZ, about 3 miles from Pecks Lake and 18 miles from Forte Verde. Arizona has had much more rain from those old photos, because there's a lot more greenery. Thanks for the video!
You put someone in that situation and they will figure it out. It wouldn't be easy, but i think most would figure it out. The knowledge is ingrained in us, even if we don't know it.
@@davidwall7747 I didn't find a reason for a single pic to be banned. Near the beginning talking about prostitutes there is a photo generally speaking attributed to being Josephine Sadie Markus (Wyatt Earp's girlfriend) that is actually a photo taken at the turn of the century in New York and distributed to soldiers in World War One 😉
Fantastic pictures, thanks for sharing, wish we had more! One comment about the West: it wasn't quite as 'wild' as often depicted in movies or on this video title. The southern territories had been explored by the Spanish/Mexicans since the early 1530s, with many settlements already established in the region. In fact, the names of many states-such as Nevada, Colorado, Arizona and California-are of Spanish origin, as are many of the cities: Los Angeles, San Francisco, Las Vegas, San Diego, Sacramento, Santa Barbara, Fresno, Santa Cruz, Monterey, etc. Even Geronimo, featured in the video, had a Spanish name and spoke Spanish.
Those miner's had nerves of steel. My dad was a hard rock in the 1950's in Chelan Washington and that was hairy enough going by his stories but what these guys subjected themselves to was a another level altogether 😳
It’s inspiring to hear stories of such resilience and dedication-it’s a testament to the human spirit and the lengths people will go to for their families and livelihoods. Much respect to your dad and those like him!
The photo of Billy the Kid is not 1 of only 2 confirmed. As of 2023 the only 2 confirmed photos of Billy are the portrait standing with rifle and one playing croquet with other members of the Regulators. So many of these "historical" videos are now being posted from AI sourced material without even basic fact-checking.
Wrong, there is only one proven photo of Billy. Only one with provenance and a trail of ownership back to the original 4 copies. That is the famous tin type now owned by one of the Koch brothers.you re ally shouldn’t put pictures up and state as fact they are Billy, it calls to question everything you put in this video.
The croquet photo was not confirmed. Still only one confirmed photo exists. Since the only tintipe was sold by 2.5 mil ( or something like that) numerous photos have emerged....people want to find the next one...but only thing that these photos have in common is some resemblance to Billy the Kid.. same with " Billy plays cards", "Billy dances with male friend/ etc. However to trully confirm the photo, you have to do better. For example specify where and when the photo was taken, identify the other people on the photo..,...there has to be some historical context, those other photos lack this,
It would be interesting to know why each photo was banned from history books. I’m enjoying the photos and narrative but am puzzled as to why they’re banned.
AI has become commonplace except for those of us who went to school to learn how to read and write. Will our grandchildren depend on AI in the future for all of their skills and recorded history? Sitting that thought aside for now, I enjoyed your photographs . I especially enjoyed the one from Geyser Springs! That must have been such a wonderful sight to see.
