Gia, try electronic billing for utilities and save to your computer. And / or try scanning your must keep documents. After a year or two, shred your documents. Creating your own “electronic “ file system, is definitely a time saver.
Girl! The struggle!! 😫😫 I just messaged a group of friends to see if they’d be interested in getting together on a Zoom call to all do our individual tasks (laundry, cleaning, decluttering, etc.) while we just chat. It would be so much better to have company while doing all these terrible tasks. 🤣
Yep I feel you on needing to see the bills. Same with receipts from stores. I have found so many mistakes of overcharging at grocery stores. As far as home bills, I just login each month and check the bill online…but stay paperless
I am team paper bills as well. I have to stop several times when completing a large task. Actually, in the last few years I try to do a little at a time so I don't get overwhelmed. It might take me several days, but at least it eventually gets done. So proud of all your progress this year! Keep on motivating us. Happy Holidays.
Thanks for continuing to inspire us to be the best version of ourselves! Decluttering takes mental & physical energy that is so precious, but it feels amazing in the space afterwards. The school paperwork is NO JOKE. Happy Holidays and GREAT meeting you in person at the baby shower!!
This is me on my bed! I make piles. Ugh! I hate paper. 😂 I never realized your office was open to the foyer. The really has to be a motivator to keep the space tidy. 😅
I kept a lot of my son's school stuff. He is 41 now. Years ago I got a big binder with a pocket for each grade. I kept his report cards and any school work that told a story of what was going on in his life. 🇨🇦
Yes on the paper bills. You are not crazy. I am done having people call me a grandma or crazy because of how I manage my financials. I won’t feel the slightest bit embarrassed of it anymore.
Maybe moving the mail/paper organizer from the left side of your desk to the right since it seems like that’s where you tend to drop stuff. That way it’ll at least be filled up off the desk. Also I’m not sure if it’s possible but moving the file cabinet to the right side might make it easier to file things away. I’m super lazy so if things aren’t right where I naturally drop them they won’t make it to where they need to go. You could move your lamp and planner to the left side to make room for the mail organizer.
Once you pay a bill, go ahead and file that paid bill. Then that will free your time up a little. Enact the 1 touch rule. Touch it once and put it away the first time so you don’t have to revisit whatever it is. For example: When you come through the door hang your coat/purse up right away so you don’t have to touch it again to hang it up.
Yes, I would love to hear more about Notion. Always interested in ways to track my “To Do’s” & “projects.” Old school paper works best for me, too. Been overcharged or duplicate charged so many times and I was able to prove the payment so it’s been a lifesaver!
Would love to know more about Notion! I felt every bit of the brain topic hopping 🤦🏽♀️ the struggle is real. What if you tried a temporary freedom filing binder where you could easily open it and plop the bill in the folder instead if going in the file cabinet?? Then once a year rotate the binder into the file cabinet and shred the old stuff. Try it and tell us if it works bc I don’t have any answers for my own space 😂
Hi Jia, you have to do what works best for you. Since most accounts have the electronic back up statements, maybe for you it’s worth committing to a habit once you’ve reviewed and paid a bill, the prior month goes into a shred box. This way you’re only storing the most recent bill. School stuff is such a struggle. I’ll let you know when I conquer that! 😅 (p.s. even with being mostly paperless, paper clutter is still a nuisance, sigh). The struggle is real. Keep at I mama, you’re doing great!
Your declutter motivations are always the best as you struggle much less than me to toss things away 💪 I'm just a bit sad that the thing I struggle the most to toss are magazines and fashion stores catalogues/flyers and at 1:23 you've just ripped the plastic enough so you can see it before discarding that magazine, but we couldn't see what it was haha I hope it wasn't a fashion one as I wish to see whatever nicer paper clutter you're able to get rid of. I also wished you would filmed while emptying the bin into the regular trash as it's the part where you can't change your mind anymore on stuff you've decided to discard.
Yep, like my paper statements. I have to purge files at least once a year, but it's worth it. Mistakes are caught, and I keep better in control of things. Feel safer.
I get too attached to stuff sometimes...especially if someone gave it to me. I'm using a journal notebook called Throw It Away by Guru Notebooks for getting rid of more stuff, it' helps me think through the items.
I do have ADHD and I feel ya! My Husband was going to unload the dishwasher but, I had already done that. Well, except I left 3 coffee cups and a dish towel on the top shelf. 🤷♀️ Something else came up that needed my attention. Lol
I was going to ask if you have ADD. I do also and have been really telling myself to not pick up the phone because girl, I'd be redecorating my whole house, do an Instacart order and Christmas shop before I get my desk cleared lol
I have a hard time with mail. I keep things that people send me, but then I don’t know what to do with the other stuff. I recently gathered up all the mail in my apartment and it filled a box! 😱
The ADHD brain takes overrr! Completely understand 👍🏾😂 I’ve been installing a new washer & dryer and me and this dryer vent hose was about to tussle. Took my son to get something to eat before I put a dent in that thing 🤣🤣
WOW why are people so judgy? I think we all have various strengths and struggles. This may be Jia’s, and maybe she’s mastered over areas others may not. Regardless if they are content creators, putting parts of your life out there l can only imagine takes courage. There’s no doubt this struggle is relatable to some and hopefully makes someone feel less alone. I wish everything in life was as easy as we’d like to tell people.

Very nice! I'm a paper saver also but I could probably save less. Thanks for the inspiration! Hugs.😊🐦

I’m with you going old school and getting with paper!! I’d love to hear about Notion.👍🏼

I jump around also ! good for you finishing this off!
I completely understand what you mean! I found that clearing the space like you did, allows me to organize the stuff. Sure feels great to tidy up!

Hey there I know cleaning the office is hard but doing good at it. Thanks for sharing.
Hey 👋🏽 Jia! Good job!👍🏽 God bless! 💞💞💞
I completely understand the mental circus. I just told hubby I think I need help 😂

Do you have a medical diagnosis for ADHD?
Paper bills? pay them, scan them, shred. you saw it, it was dealt with then it's away from your space.
WOW why do people let things get that bad. Its clean as you go but work on that sis or call that lady again please.😊
But then there wouldn't be any content... lol... right? Can't make a video out of an organized room.
Yes extreme decluttering is more popular than slow sustainable decluttering where you don't hoard as much stuff in the first place.
