Yes, it was Tywins' twisted plan the entire time to use Tyrion and the trial as leverage to make Jaime leave the King's Guard and accept his "duty" to carry on Tywin's precious legacy.

That violin music when Shae arrives was played during Sansa’s and Tyrion’s Wedding night. It’s beautiful; what does it mean? Notice that every time Oberyn is seated, his body language shows that he is disinterested. But after Tyrion’s epic speech, his nonverbals show the opposite! Like a 180 degree turn in his behavior! Peter Dinklage should have won an Emmy!
Yes. He was nominated for every season I think (as "Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series") and won 4 of them. I don't know how Emmy winners are selected, but I suspect they didn't want to give all of them to the same show and actors year after year... which they technically could have.
That was really Tywin's main motivation in going along with the show trial. He didn't kill Joffrey, but in Joffrey's death he saw an opportunity to get Jaime out of King's Landing and have him start a family, aka the conversation they had at the start of the season. He calculated Jaime will fold under pressure to save his brother. It was all going along so smoothly until Tyrion threw a wrench in his plan and now it's going to be an absolute insane whirlwind of a ride.

I finally did and this is the first new episode that I get to see as you release it, and what an episode! Tyrion's trial and that iconic speech are just GOT at it's best. I'm saying this now because it's no longer a spoiler: As much as I like the scene in 3x10 when Yara and Balon get the letter and the box from Ramsay, when she said she'd get the best assassins in the Iron Islands, sail all the way around Westeros and get Theon back from the Dreadfort, as a fan of the books who knew that doesn't happen and thus, they were setting up a filler storyline, I got myself ready for disappointment, and the payoff didn't disappoint. It was awful, and stupid, and inauthentic. Ramsay charging head-first against the "best assassins in the Iron Islands" with no armor and no shield, and winning!? Nope. Yara standing like an idiot while armor-less Ramsay lets the dogs out? Also nope.
Exactly. Why on Earth would anybody be afraid of dogs when you have arrows, lances and swords? Feels like a scene they put up together at the last minute.

Tywin and Cersei let their personal grudge get in the way. Bringing Shae in was meant to break Tyrion, but his resolve overcame their petty hatred of him. That outburst was 30+ years of being spat upon by everyone; it was a volcano ready to erupt and every single one of those parasites deserved his venomous words. He tried to do right by them, but they turned their backs on them. Aside from his military defeats by Robb Stark, this was Tywin's greatest blunder. For Varys, he only repeated what was said in the small council meetings that they all attended. You can tell how much it hurt both of them but Varys is a better actor. He tried to get rid of Shae last season without Tyrion's knowledge with a bag of diamonds. They have a great relationship and it's clear to see how much more respect they have for each other since s2.
Little pockets of the North are still occupied by the Iron Born from the time of Theon's invasion during the War of the 5 Kings. From Roose and Ramsay's conversation a few episodes ago, the viewer is told that those Iron Born are mostly concentrated in Moat Cailin. The Boltons can't enter Winterfell and claim their seat as the Wardens of the North until Moat Cailin is cleared out. Ramsay's plan is to take over Moat Cailin by using Theon to his advantage. Once the remaining Iron Born are flushed out, the North is effectively Boltons'.
You already know it isn't going to end well for Tyrion. He may have escaped having to stand and receive punishment before through Trial by Combat, but this time his Champion is likely to face someone who knows how to fight. Tyrion doesn't have many people that are going to risk their life for him.
Out of all the fifty something odd emmys GoT won, it's crazy that Peter missed out on an emmy for this scene. Aaron Paul won it that year for Breaking Bad I think. Which would be well deserved, but fuck man, give Dinklage all the emmys for that performance. What a scene!
Blind dany lovers really need to watch this ep closely. Not only all the unnecessary titles (showing arrogance and entitlement) but killing the father that spoke out against the other masters. She just assumed they were all evil without knowing. And didn’t even show remorse.
This is the kind of mistake that a new ruler overcome by emotion would make. Right now, Dany is learning how to rule, which is the reason why she stayed instead of heading for Westeros. And every ruler makes mistakes in the beginning, which is why they have a trusted group of advisors to help them bypass the serious mistakes. She has Jorah and Sir Berristan, and while both of them are good for advice about fighting, neither of them has much experience in ruling. I don't see any clear evidence for people's theories that Dany might become as insane as her father.

The biggest problem with Shae, is they they showrunners tried to mix book Shae and Show Shae... And this betrayal comes like a M. Night Shyamalan twist! The fact that Varys is asexual is not a sexual representation. It is merely a character trait... One of the good things about GoT is that it isn't disgraced by identity politics like the distasteful distaster that is House of the Dragon.
Varys isn't asexual, he lacks testicals, so he doesn't have the sex hormones to feel desire. Varys was cut before puberty, so it's not at all surprising he wasn't interested in sex before or after. It's a tragedy, not a sexual orientation. Now a days we have medication for that.
And today we maybe wouldn't get that speech from Tyrion anymore because its "height shaming" and the whole shit had to be canceled for using words like "dwarf" instead of "person of lower height" or whatever now is PC for the snowflakes.
Tyrions speech is epic, but the sceen where Tywin's plan is revealed through Jaime I like even more, personally. And you've recognized it immediately. Bravo. You said it yourself - Scenes like these are what makes this show great! SPOILER: Sadly, as much as you did recognize it, the show creators did not. And thus in the end they had turned the later seasons of the show into an ordinary action packed fantasy show where the dialogue gets skipped more often then not :-/ My personal ratings (being a reader of the books): Season 1-3: 95% Season 4: 85 % Season 5: 75% Season 6: 60% Season 7: 30% Season 8: 20%

For Varys, he only repeated what was said in the small council meetings that they all attended. You can tell how much it hurt both of them but Varys is a better actor. He tried to get rid of Shae last season without Tyrion's knowledge with a bag of diamonds. They have a great relationship and it's clear to see how much more respect they have for each other since s2.

Little pockets of the North are still occupied by the Iron Born from the time of Theon's invasion during the War of the 5 Kings. From Roose and Ramsay's conversation a few episodes ago, the viewer is told that those Iron Born are mostly concentrated in Moat Cailin. The Boltons can't enter Winterfell and claim their seat as the Wardens of the North until Moat Cailin is cleared out. Ramsay's plan is to take over Moat Cailin by using Theon to his advantage. Once the remaining Iron Born are flushed out, the North is effectively Boltons'.

You already know it isn't going to end well for Tyrion. He may have escaped having to stand and receive punishment before through Trial by Combat, but this time his Champion is likely to face someone who knows how to fight. Tyrion doesn't have many people that are going to risk their life for him.
Out of all the fifty something odd emmys GoT won, it's crazy that Peter missed out on an emmy for this scene. Aaron Paul won it that year for Breaking Bad I think. Which would be well deserved, but fuck man, give Dinklage all the emmys for that performance. What a scene!
Blind dany lovers really need to watch this ep closely. Not only all the unnecessary titles (showing arrogance and entitlement) but killing the father that spoke out against the other masters. She just assumed they were all evil without knowing. And didn’t even show remorse.
This is the kind of mistake that a new ruler overcome by emotion would make. Right now, Dany is learning how to rule, which is the reason why she stayed instead of heading for Westeros. And every ruler makes mistakes in the beginning, which is why they have a trusted group of advisors to help them bypass the serious mistakes. She has Jorah and Sir Berristan, and while both of them are good for advice about fighting, neither of them has much experience in ruling. I don't see any clear evidence for people's theories that Dany might become as insane as her father.

Lets not forget Essos way of living is completly different from westeros. So some principles cannot be aplied in both continents... Lets not forgot that Daenerys closest thing to rule, was during Khal Drogo was alive. And dothraki culture is very brutal! Other thing that bothers me a little. is why Targaryen conquest is very enjoyable and fans love so much, but they are so judgmental towards Daenerys! (I dont like her, my favourite is Margaery Tyrell and House Tyrell) How those people assume that first Targaryen did conquer Westeros? By asking please join me? no! In the end, Daenerys is a conquer... and sometimes conquers need to be cruel or brutal. We may or not like that...

Ask yourself: When did Shae enter Tyrion's life? Her arc makes her scenes during repeat viewing less than optimal.

The biggest problem with Shae, is they they showrunners tried to mix book Shae and Show Shae... And this betrayal comes like a M. Night Shyamalan twist! Its clear Shae wasnt been threat... she did it by despite! Thats why she said "im a whore". People do stupid things when they are hurt, and this was just stupid. I guess the major blame, was Tyrion not be totally honest with her, and just make a scheme to put her in safety! He should had explain to her very careful the danger both were, and then just brake with her in a less hurtful situation!
people are hard on Shae (i agree to some extend) but they kinda forgot, that we (audience) have acess to Tyrion conversations and personality. Shae doesnt! Sadly she got Hurt, and she was one of those persons that hell got loose, and didnt care about the consequences of this trial. As long she could hurt him, like he did to her!
As good as this episode is, the next one is as good if not better.

Varys isn't asexual, he lacks testicals, so he doesn't have the sex hormones to feel desire. Varys was cut before puberty, so it's not at all surprising he wasn't interested in sex before or after. It's a tragedy, not a sexual orientation. Now a days we have medication for that.

I never liked Shae
She had her good moments, but I generally didn't like her either. She was always on Tyrion's ass about one thing or another.
And today we maybe wouldn't get that speech from Tyrion anymore because its "height shaming" and the whole shit had to be canceled for using words like "dwarf" instead of "person of lower height" or whatever now is PC for the snowflakes.
Tyrions speech is epic, but the sceen where Tywin's plan is revealed through Jaime I like even more, personally. And you've recognized it immediately. Bravo. You said it yourself - Scenes like these are what makes this show great!

Sadly, as much as you did recognize it, the show creators did not. And thus in the end they had turned the later seasons of the show into an ordinary action packed fantasy show where the dialogue gets skipped more often then not :-/
