5 might be too much, maybe call the embellishment and not the other player regardless of how bad the original penalty was, and then a fine to the player who embellished, or maybe 5 for embellishment, and it is a reviewable play.
Double penalties are perfect. They COULD'VE had a power play, but because one asshat decided to try and sell the trip/hook/whatever like a pro wrestler, then the whole team gets punished for not getting that power play.

I can get behind the Buff comment as originally said "6th best while he played", certainly one of the more dominate defensemen during his playing seasons 07/08 - 18/19. Buff as a whole package, both ends of the ice, night after night, year after year - not just offensive pop like a Karlsson numbers.

McDavid is definitely a "lock" assuming his career continues. I don't know if his resume, were he to retire today, gets him in. It's just that we can see, even if he were to start declining (which isn't happening for at least a few more years, barring injury), he's almost a lock to hit 250 goals, 500 assists next year. Pretty safe bet he hits 1000 points within 5 years. Add in the awards, and even if he never sniffs a Cup, that's getting hm in on the first vote. Matthews is likely in the convo for top American player of all time (easily in the top-5 American forwards). However, he's never had a period in his career where you'd say he was THE best player in the league. He probably needs to hit 500 goals and/or win a Cup or 2 to lock it in. Maybe not as much of a lock as McDavid, but still someone who is like a 90% lock already.
I think at this point, with over a decade left in their careers, the entire conversation is a bit premature.... also, I'd argue right now, for this second half of the season at least, Matthews has been THE best player in the league. Based on these past 3 seasons, if Matthews is decently healthy throughout his career he will slaughter 500 goals.
@@KS-xk2so I completely agree that Matthews will have the numbers. I'm just responding to the claim that McDavid could retire today and get in, which I'm not quite sure is true. You can't truly compare players from different eras, you know that, right? A list of the best 100 players will always be flawed. Sure, players now workout much harder, are in better shape, but they also have much better equipment and training! How do you think Bobby Orr would do growing up in this era? I mean, we'll never really know... Yes, to Tony Karlsson's comment in the chat...what about a player's all around game (defense and offense). At one point, I certainly would rather have had Toews than Malkin as my top centre. He was Canada's best player in the 2010 Olympics and a huge reason for the Black Hawks success (Stanley Cups). Maybe they could do a top 100 players of each decade? (that would make more sense) Even if they did a top 70 forwards and top 30 defensemen.
At one point maybe! But by the end, their careers don't compare at all in hindsight. Malkin only played 26 more games than Toews yet he had almost 400 more points.
Honestly, I prefer players getting a penalty for embelishment, rather than getting a fine after the game. Given their salaries, 2-min penalty is much bigger punishment than $5,000 fine.
Comparing Gallagher and Stutzle’s penalties drawn isn’t apples to apples. There’s more than one way to draw a penalty. Gallagher draws most of his penalties by digging in hard and getting mangled on a regular basis. And because of his reputation, actually misses out on many, many calls that would be called. Not the same thing as someone whips there head back to sell a ghost high stick, or flops around on the ice etc.

Stützle was on the power play because 1 second after an injury it hurts. 1 minute after adrenaline is pumping and distracts you from pain. 1 day after your injury is swelled up and you can’t play. Getzlaf is not even close to the Hall of Fame. Less then 300 career goals, only ever scored more then 30 goals once. Not a point per game player. No individual awards. 1 time NHL all star. Jeremy Roenick has over 500 goals, over 1200 points. 9 time NHL all star and he isn’t in the Hall. No way Getzlaf gets in the Hall if Roenick isn’t in.
If it wasn't for his international success, Getzlaf would have no shot at the hall whatsoever, since international play is taken into consideration (which I don't like) he will get in for sure. Also Don't flame Tim Stapleton, he is a Chiclets legend! Calling embellishment in the arena is a good idea because the "embarrassment" of being called for embellishment in the sort of honest tough guy culture of hockey is a deterrent on its own.
It's taken in account because it is the Hockey Hall of Fame and not the NHL Hall of Fame. Without including international play, players like Vladislav Tretiak who was never able to play in the NHL due to the Cold War would have never had a shot. Also, it gets very annoying when players like Daniel Alfredsson has to sit and wait because he never had a Cup even though he had international success, over a 1000 games and was the first Swedish Captain to take his team to the Finals while it feels like almost every 80s Oiler gets in due to being a part of that dynasty. I think the Cup gets taken way too much into account.
Stuetzle is a diving machine. Gallagher chose a bad play to speak out about but yea that guy has been in the league for only a few years and already has embellishment montages.

Easy fix. 5 for diving, 2 for the penalty. I’ll bet that would cut it down.

@@ewCum ya ik he still dives not as much but pretty pathetic he goes after a 19 year old that hasnt fully developed physically to make himself feel good about himself
@@eliaminator2313 imo in the culture of hockey, it important to not dives. This is not good for his reputation in a game where people played with injuries during the majority of the playoffs. People who’s hating on soccer are those guys who dosent like the diving on soccer. But i mean his diving make his team score. That a great strategy ngl but not good for his reputation.
@@bgduhood6953 Ya I agree I just dont think he dives that much I also think his size doesnt help he needs to grow into his body
I suspect Stutzle is learning to handlew himself. These diving argument is pure histrionics from lesser athletes

Hockey is becoming more like soccer, more diving and complaining about hits. It's getting sad seeing hockey going in this direction.
Cool

Too much diving. Too many young soft “superstars” ….*ducks*
The guy who sucks
Stuetzle is a diving machine. Gallagher chose a bad play to speak out about but yea that guy has been in the league for only a few years and already has embellishment montages.
yeah the opposition spews their particular bs but it's just a load of we can't stop him so ...................................
