Wow!!! Talk about internet gold!!! Thank you for posting this movie. One of my faves from when I was young. Surprised it still resonates with me as an adult, though it hits different. When I watched this when I was young, many times, I didn't think anything of the truck driver scene, but now, as an adult, I find it somewhat disturbing. And the jeans Brooke is wearing in this movie are a little bit disturbing too. I mean, the character she's playing is only like what, 11 or 12 years old??? I mean, WTF!??? But once I got past that, and the somewhat preposterous plot, that I didn't recognize as preposterous when I was young, this movie has a lot of charm, and some great performances from Brooke, Charles Durning, and Ken Marshall. Great time capsule too!!! I grew up in Texas, and loved playing pinball, so I'm sure this movie resonates a lot more with me than the average viewer, but I think anyone who loves pinball would probably get a kick out of watching this movie! Lot of fun to watch!!!
Thank you for posting this. I saw this on tv as a little kid-1980 maybe. I thought she was so cool and I liked the movie a lot. Well I just watched this and wow! it’s so wrong on so many levels wow! This film would never get made today. Why did they make this!?! And not enough Brooke.
(Tilt came out in 1979) I was born in '68 and in 1979 I didn't think 1979 was all that great. And even for years after that I still didn't care for 1979. And then I got to 2020 and all of a sudden 1979 is pretty cool.
Oh yeah, I still the "big box" VHS from Continental Video. So when THE HELL is this seminal 70's movie gonna get the bluray treatment? "Tilt" was actually filmed in 2;35 "Scope" format, so a restoration would look beautiful. And just the fact that Brooke Shields is the star you would think that would be reason enough. I love Charles Durning in this....The Whale! I'm guessing there might be a copyright issue with the music; there are a lot of songs in "Tilt..." I won't stop hoping...anyway, thanks for posting the whole movie so people have the opportunity to see this forgotten gem...
I would love to see a Blu Ray treatment of Tilt! It would be great id Shout Factory, Vinegar Syndrome or KL picked up this gem! I loved this movie as a kid in the early 80s! I remember seeing it on HBO.
@@Wolfie66 Nah, I don't see the blue ray happening. This movie was a flop but I still watch it frequently and own many machines in the opening sequence. I love the Charlies Angels music and own the LP soundtrack. If I ever met brooke, I would ask her when was the last time she played pinball and invite her to my home filled with 70's and 80s arcade games.
Definitely needs a 4k restoration I also have the VHS and many 70s pinballs The whale was a great character and his interactions with tilt are very sweet
@@Wolfie66 I could definitely see this one being released by Kino or maybe region free from Via Vision/Imprint. Both companies will have released some of her earliest roles with Wanda Nevada (Now OOP) and Pretty Baby (coming out in a couple of weeks) It's a fun film that deserves to be seen once again!
I remember watching this on TV with my grandma, probably like 1980-81... all I remember was how much my grandma thought that Charles Durning's character had this fake stomach that my grandmother hated, "I can't believe they made him wear that"... so my grandma hated this movie because of how terrible he looked... awesome. Now it's 40 years later and I am watching it because of that, lol. Update, I am now actually watching the first few minutes, and my grandma was right, he looks ridiculous lol.
I'm glad to hear it was fake. I was watching this hoping it was fake. I always liked Charles Durning, and didn't remember him in this movie, but remember that character was on the heavy side. I think probably because I initially saw this movie when I was young, many times, before I knew who he was later after seeing movies like "Tootsie" and "To Be Or Not To Be". I don't think it's fair to actors to ask them to put on that much weight just to do a character. He was amazing in this role!
I have seen this film around 1982-83. By the time I returned to play pinball in 1990, I began playing dirty. Brooke Shields played Tilt, so I wanted to be "Mr. Tilt" so that if I get mad or outraged, like Incredible Hulk I would shake left-right to keep my game going. Usually the machine will caution me with "Danger" up to twice, but I if I really am outraged, I'll ignore that and continue 'til it tilts. The pandemic in 2.020 stopped me from going to arcades & started learning to social distance from others. I learned much from this TV-14-DLV film. If this was today, we now see machines having multiball plays.
One of my local operator's machines gave 0 tilt warnings. And the tilt sensitivity was set very strict. He set all his video games on hard difficulty too. He is still in the route business.
Close to the 1:38:30 minute mark it's like I can hear parts of both the A-Team and Scooby Doo theme songs, and this movie was made right in between those shows in 1979, but before the A-Team had actually come out. (As an aside, Brooke Shields says that she goes to school only 2 days a week and is still getting an A, or all A's) S.B.
What I couldn't get" is why Brooke shields used a southern voice 🤔 it's the same voice as Brook used in the classic "SWEET BABY" best movie she ever played. ❤
I literally just now found out that Karen Lamm was in this. She was photographed on the cover of the solo self titled album by Alan Price ex of the UK band The Animals. I'm shocked 😲
@@zapkvr got to play the pinball game in the film at CAX for a couple of years, Not going to look up his name, I'll edit it. actually both pinball games for the film were there. Very humble fellow.
