Large Ore Vein tweaks for snapshot 21w18a

- Made large ore veins slightly more rare and slightly smaller on average. But the size varies a lot so you can still find huge ones once in a while. We also increased the chance of finding raw ore blocks in the ore veins.
The buttons in the video represent the filler blocks (tuff/granite). I use buttons to make the ores more visible while tuning.
Note that this demo doesn't take into account that caves will erase parts of the ore veins.

I can tell im gonna have a love/hate relationship with ore veins.
Im going to have to spend so much time mining them out.
It'll be something we just can't do, we'll have to make bases for that

Just like coal.
I gotta say, these large ore veins will change my long-time mining behaviour, and make life underground much more interesting (aside from all the other awesome changes to caves, esp the addition of the lush ones). For ages now I've eschewed cave exploration in lieu of branch mining, since that was the most efficient (and much safer to boot). But the fact that we can now find a real bonanza in ore by exploring changes that equation.

I'm really excited for the knowledge that with the coming updates, I'll be able to keep going back to the same mine for quite a few trips whenever I need ore. It makes the location of a mine feel far more impactful.

These are so cool, I’m extremely excited for this. I particularly hope I’ll be able to adjust the frequency, min and max sizes, etc of these veins in the custom world gen settings once this is done! Even in its current form though this is the feature I’ve wanted since I mined my first ore in 2013, thank you so much!

Man I am so hyped for this change. I once made a similar large ore generation using the COFH mod making massive ore spawns but making a percentage of the ore the actual ore blocks and the rest of fill blocks, but those always ended up more elliptical in generation and because it's using noise to get the actual ore blocks within the ore spawn is, it always seemed more messy. These ones you're developing however are far neater and natural feeling as this seems more cave-like with long tendrils and I absolutely love it!
Btw, if you can please also add in some kinda way to modify/tweak the vein frequency, size, density, block types, etc. via things like datapacks for those of us interested that'd be soooooo appreciated ^-^

IMO they should be more rare and much lager, it should be worth building a long minecart track all the way back to your base for it to transport the ore, that would be cool.
But it looks like most see it differently and want them smaller :(
They are generally smaller but they pretty much did what you want them to do except bettwer IMO, what they did is made the extremely big ones; rarer than smaller ones.

What if you could find those in specific biomes? So players would know where to go if they need tons of copper or iron
why not have it everywhere making it accessible to anyone and anywhere. thats what they want with copper

After a recent update, Minecraft added a torch, a lantern, and a soul bonfire, for which I am very grateful. But how about adding the pumpkin of the soul, as well as equating the watermelons (making it possible to carve watermelons and turn them into lamps).

How do you get it to generate with no stone like that? I've been looking everywhere for how to generate a world with no blocks so I can just get a free-floating ore vein like this, but I can't find anything.

I hope a snapshot will fix rotten flesh working in the composter, and bugs in the guis of the loom and enchanting table. There is also a bug with the scrolling in creative, if you scroll and hover the curser over the tabs it clicks them

Will there be a "new generation" datapack for the final 1.17? I want to play with the new worldgen, even if it is not finished before 1.18.
I think it would be better if there were also some much more common small veins, then make ones of this size less common, and the massive ones still very rare

There's just one thing I don't like, the fact that sometimes you get a loooong branch of "buttons" with 0 ores
This is awesome, but I feel like texture wise seeing the same repeating ore texture won’t look great

We have amethyst crystals.... And they already did consider this idea though.

Add evolution to the game so that players can engage in sectioning and breed new species of animals and plants.
And so that the animals, by themselves, have their own character, even in the wild, and then the more adapted will survive, the animals will learn to run away from griefers.
The evolution speed needs to be interesting for gameplay, but the administrator could change it.
True, then you have to make sure that peaceful animals are reborn by themselves.
Also add the market economy to the game so that the prices themselves adjust (but without banks).
Also, adapt the game to play on the server, so that administrators do not have to look for plugins, like privates and registration.

They're buried underground and can only be found in the datapack.

We need something equivalent to an Eye of Ender to help us find ore veins and amethyst geodes.
I think they're common enough that you can just dig for a few hundred blocks (or explore a cave for a while) and you're likely to find one by coincidence
I don't think it's that necessary, and it kinda feels better by just stumbling upon one randomly.
