I love it!! I’m in the process of becoming an English teacher for highschool! This helped me so much. It gave me insight on the behind the scenes work part lol. Teachers don’t just teach! That’s 50% of it a wise counsel once told me.😂💎
This was always my dream job! High school English. But I’m so introverted tbh, and high schoolers’ attitudes kind of scare me! Either way I love literature
sameee!! i’m only a sophomore in hs but my school offers a program that lets me take classes to be a teacher and i’m doing them right now, hopefully my dreams can come true! (plus it’s not many black english teachers so i hope that i can become one.)
@@alizaysmith9673 Girl, you've totally got this! I'm a 22 year old about to start teaching English. I was also a sophomore when I decided it was what I wanted to do. I know you can make that dream happen :)
@@serinadean9019 thank you so much!! just wondering what did you have to major in? like english or maybe education?
@@alizaysmith9673 Great question! My university offers an English Secondary Education degree. I think they've organized things really well and they do a good job balancing English courses with education courses. Education wise I feel prepared.
@@alizaysmith9673 There’s tons and tons of black educators, in all fields, don’t be deterred or intimidated!! Best of luck to you and many blessings 🙏💗
I am someone with a bachelors and a few years in my career. I wanted to teach it was discouraged from doing it when I was in college. I am now seeking a career change and going to do a masters program with licensure. This is so helpful and insightful
I'm a middle school ELA teacher, but I love how you create your lesson from start to finish. I also like creating slides. Thanks for sharing.
omg my first vedio was of u telling how to write narrative writting and now u have become a successful person may god bless u
I love this and I’m very grateful you were open to sharing it!! 🥰
Stuff like this is super helpful for homeschool parents. Thank you SO much for sharing this.
I’m a high school dance teacher but I love following other teachers to see how they do things. I’m definitely subscribing! 🥰
When I was in 9th grade, I made a 38 for the 3rd 9 weeks. This lowered my average totally, in which I needed to make at least 100% on every assignment till the end of the school year so that I could pass. I busted my tail off scoring 100% on every assignment. By the end of the semester, I finished the 4th 9 week with a 110%. Fast forward to today, I have a Bachelors and two Masters.
A former classmate who now works at the same school district that we graduated from now has a position there. He recently posted on social media encouraging English and Math majors to apply. Well, I don’t have an English degree but I do have one in journalism and an additional Masters in Educational Leadership. He said he didn’t see an issue with my credentials. So I just got through submitting my application. Let’s see how it goes. 😊
I'm a new teacher in Alabama and feel confident in teaching because I'm passionate about the material, but I'm terrified of all the little things that come along with lesson planning 😔 That's why I've been keeping my restaurant job instead of getting into teaching but your video is so encouraging!! Thank you for taking the time to make this 🥰
you got this! Follow your dreams!!😊
I’m going into my masters program for education, and this is helping me soooo much! Thank you so much!
I appreciate this vlog, I am beginning my High School career teaching ELA in South Carolina(I live in GA by the way on the border of the Savannah River) and you have given me so many ideas. Thanks
Such a thorough and detailed video! Thank you!
You have motivated me. Now I am off to plan for the week. Thank you!
I loved the idea of the gallery walk. I thought it was a smart decision to change the annotations into paraphrasing! I’m considering using this lesson for my 9th grade class once we get into poetry. Can’t wait to watch more of your videos :)
Thank you so much ☺️ I’m glad I could help !
I have two hard-earned education degrees and have a licensure in secondary English education I have to renew. My lesson plans are beyond exceptional (and my college asked to keep them as an example for future students). Most of my old lesson plans were on disk which I can't access anymore, but I have my portfolio and hard copies.
Great idea of you sharing your ideas on how you go on making your lesson plans. It definitely is the most time consuming for teachers. But it is one the key to succeed in our teaching practice. Thanks a lot for sharing .....
I enjoyed this video! And I agree there’s not many resources for high school ELA. I teach 9th Gen Ed. This is my second year!
Well I start Teaching 9th Grade ELA next week. First time in High School
I love your daily slides!
I am currently getting my degree to become a secondary education English teacher and am very nervous! This video was very informative, and I am excited to watch more from you!
love to see this, very helpful
ELA teachers always have to be creative!
Awesome plan❤️
Hello! It is nice to find your channel. Thanks for sharing.
I’m going back to college in January and I’m taking math and education next year 😄❤️
Great to hear that you've found Canva and Picmonkey helpful for lesson planning! They can definitely save time and make the process more enjoyable. Have you tried any other tools or platforms that have been particularly effective in creating engaging lessons for your students?
Love your channel!
Love this! Could you make a video on devising gallery walks for students? What teaching content can be taught with gallery walks?
Thanks for this video. I think that you could be successful on TPT. Your resources look great.
Love this
I’m SO glad you made this video!! I am considering going back to college to become a HS English teacher and I’m always looking for positive inspiration to spur me on. You’re such a breath of fresh air! Thank you! 💓
Omg that means so much ! 💖 thank you ! Comments like yours are so encouraging. Good luck ☺️
Great tips.. Thank you!
this is so exciting! I’m currently an undergraduate student who’s very interested in teaching high school English. If you don’t mind me asking, what was your journey like to become a teacher?
Do you use a certain template for your weekly lesson plan overview that you turn in to admin? I like it a lot!
I am majoring in secondary English education. I am so nervous about following through with it because of all of the political issues surrounding it. My motivation is that I want to show young minds that english can be fun and not just something that you have to take to pass.
I have my students read At The Chadian Ball and The Storm for their first Socratic Seminar because they all get into what is going on in the stories.
“Now no chastening seems to be joyful for the present, but painful; nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.”
Hebrews 12:11 NKJV❤️❤️
Thank you.
Thanks!
Do you have a website where all of your lesson plans are compiled?
I'm trying to transition into teaching English from outside and I was wondering when teaching certain concepts such as ( reading prose and poetry, and reading across genres) do you as the teacher read the suggested readings for those topics in their entirety or do you just read enough to understand how to explain the concepts?
So inspiring for an aspiring English teacher and junior college student! 💜 how did you decide which grade level to teach? I’m debating between middle and high school.
I've taught both and I prefer high school!
@@ChristyatNepenthe Hey, thank you for your insight! What makes you prefer high school?
I teach juniors and seniors. We have 90-minute blocks Monday-Friday. That's a LONG time. They are really hard to keep engaged in the last 20 minutes of every class. Any suggestions?
Good morning, hope you're in good health & spirits, okay I have a few questions...how would you help students who have no spoken English skills to start speaking it within the shortest time possible? conversational english? how would you go about it?
Thanks for making but the background music was sooo distracting
I'm not into a teaching career but my English degree has put me in teaching practice as an assignment and yikes!! I got high schoolers! 9th graders! super scary I gotta teach them grammar.
Hay quá
Cool
Can you please tell me what you have to go to school for to be able to teach lit?
English- secondary education
Oops you hadn’t talked about it yet
Hey Soror!
Can I do my student teaching with you? 👀
Have you used Canva?
Background music is so disturbing that I can not focus on the actual content.
I found this very helpful, thanks!
