Licensed Barbers VS Unlicensed "Barbers"

- I'm not trying to offend anyone, or take away from always skills or accolades that you may have earned. I'm simply stating that if you are not licensed, you cannot consider yourself a barber.
My IG: @treycutz_
YOU can consider me what you want lol. The streets gone view me as a barber, Instagram gone view me as a barber, my clients that pay are gonna view me as a barber 😭.
Straight like that‼️
Seems like licensed barbers feel like it's so important is because they're licensed.. if that makes sense lmao. It's almost a personal bias in a way. I make more than the average licensed barber in my area but since I don't have a piece of paper and refrained from spending years of my life in a classroom setting makes me less skilled? 😅
I agree.. school don’t teach you nothing but how to fk up hair.. but to go big with a shop you need that stupid piece of paper
I’ve cut hair for 25 without a license and I get paid very well. I’ve very good at my. Taft and I’ll never get a license!! Keep doing what your doing my hats off to you!!
This country needs to change their policy’s. This is our country!!! Those policy’s are for the old slave days. We need to redo all of them. Nobody cares if you have a license or not in 2022!!!!
I’m colder then any barber in my city. Literally everyone comes to me. No liscence but I’ve been cutting hair for 4 years. I’m 18 and make on average 350 a day. I’m fine if that’s what y’all wanna call me 😂
Hopefully you’re not in Ohio because good luck when the State Barber Board finds out 😬. That being said sounds like you don’t need advice.
@@Longenecker1776 nothing gonna happen lmao especially if he cuts at home there’s nothing they can do
@@Chicagomadeshortty I get it, I just wouldn’t go around announcing it to the world. even if he’s the MJ of Barbering. The State can do what they want when they want.
@@Chicagomadeshortty state board can pull up anywhere.
Everyones a barber till state board roll thru lmao
Serio
Lol that’s why I cut at home😩😂😂
@@Chicagomadeshortty that's even more risky tho
It's 2020 and I'm just seeing this video. I looked through the comment section and the comments were just what I expected. I agree with you 1,000%. I am a licensed barber and cosmetologist in several states and the license opens up a world of opportunity for you, above and beyond the local barbershop. Because of my license, I was able to work for the US military, as a civilian federal employee. I lived and worked in a foreign country for a year and half. I lived in an apt. on base (for free), received a guaranteed hourly rate (plus 25% foreign post differential), received a relocation bonus, travel reimbursement, and tips. Licensure is a game changer!!
Say it again for them man
It’s simple. If you are experienced at cutting hair , but you have no license you are still a barber! You are just an unlicensed barber! When a mechanic gets certified, he’s called a certified mechanic. But an un-certified mechanic is still a mechanic.
Been a good hair cutter for years now and just got my L’s ... no difference lol. I feel like shitty barbers use the L word to get attention that they hands can’t get, but that’s my 2 cents... to any barber or inspiring “hair cutter” get ya license for the simple fact you’ll be able to make money anywhere and not just in ya town 💯
I am a school owner in Dallas Texas, you are a real barber, forget the haters, and you are a good father too. There is not any much difference between a barber and a stylist . Barbers or cosmetologist cut hair and style
Appreciate you man!
I start Barber school on the 19th and I’m nervous as hell but hey fam we out here trying to get it done the right way
Being a licensed barber is just a peace of mind for the owner of the shop, and you have more chances of being hired at any location and even open your own barbershop , as far as skills go, some of the most skilled barbers i ever came across didnt learn their skills in no barber school , no way ,, and theres plenty licenced barbers that cant really cut hair,,,, im a licensed barber myself but i did not learn my skills at barber school at all ,, i learned from trial n error , got 18 years in the game .....
Getting a license has nothing to do with the owner of the shop. It has everything to do with you as a professional. I didn't learn my skills in school either I was cutting for 6 years before I went to school. I went because I took the craft seriously and wanted to be recognized by the state as a professional. It about pride in what you do as well.
@@TREYCUTZ u are absolutely right about professionalism and pride in ur craft,, but it does give the owner somewhat a peace of mind that when that inspector pulls up , and that licensed barber is operating on a client .no worries he might get a fine,, u can't deny that fact,, by the way great content TREY CUTZ👍👍👍🙏🙏
I dont have a master barber license but i have master barber hands
youre a master hair cutter
So why don't you get your license?
It’s impossible to have master barber hands without a barber license but only people who went to barber school would understand
😂😂😂
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They dont teach you much at barber school
Adrian Meza depends on ya school.
In ny you can pay for a barber license without schooling. Does this make you a master barber ?
is a Dr that just bought his credentials without going to school a Dr?
Brett how is this possible?
It's all basics the rest of your life is for the professional development of your craft.
When I finally went to beauty school for cosmetology I was like man I already got skills why am I here!? But I learned a lot about shaping those skills and building a strong foundation to service different backgrounds of people and learn the basics to tactic any obstacle in the hair game. It took me to the next level fa real!! I feel you completely.. only people who didn’t stick it out have a problem with this video.
Agree !!!
That’s right!!!! I’ve been cutting hair for 30 yrs fuck that license!!!
The difference is a one is a Barber and the other is a Licensed Barber, that's all!
Im unlicensed but i got. Clients that rather have me cut there hair then there old license barber lolol
What's the difference between you and a backyard barber who can cut very well? Nothing, both of you can do whatever you want and take no responsibility if something serious happens.
Keith West yup you got point
@@kind2de thats the point
😂😂
@@kind2de you can learn every step a license barber knows through experience barber that passed their test
When I was in barber school in Houston TX back in 2002 some of my classmates cheated on all the tests and NEVER cut one single hair cut. They admitted that they were there only for financial aid and get them disbursement checks. Anyway at the state board exam they burnt their clients hair cut, shave, exc...and managed to pass the written test. Now you have licensed barbers that has NEVER cut a real haircut. They have the title with absolutely no skill smh. To me they are not barbers.
Allen Remo I agree
Allen Remo under those circumstances
Allen Remo true as well
Obviously if you cheat you're not the real deal
Damn thats crazy! I work in a shop with my father and all that with no license 😂. Only thing i can say is a license is just a legal certification not a actual label. You can have a license and still be trash. The only reason a license would matter is for the paper to have over your station, you can learn everything form youtube, practice and understudying barbers
Deidara my mom only let me shampoo in her salon, if the inspection person comes in and im doing hair, my mom can get in trouble. from what she told me
its just good to have. i can work anywhere in PA.
Then why do they run when state board walks through the door? 🤣🤣
@@HabibTheHeeb obviously you can get jammed up working this way, but I was trying to say that the license doesn’t automatically determine that you are “true” barber in the terms of passion and dedication to your craft. I know many licensed and long tenured barbers who still jack people up or dont value their clients time or the service they are supposed to provide. Just like how most barbers would argue that just because they didn’t attend or graduate college does not mean they arent as smart as people who have
Hell yeah homie I work I. A shop now without a license. Fuck that license.
I’ve cut hair for 25 yrs and not once did I get a license. I one of the best barbers in Detroit.
This man ova here cappin😂😂 i just saw your comments in one of the vids u typed 4 months ago that you work in NYC
you are a barber regardless if you have a license or not, i know people who have their licenses but can't cut to save their life and some who have now but are amazing. Stop putting people in a box, it's not about having L's or not it's about the state wanting to make money from you, they don't care if you can cut or not
Tabyas Archie if that's your truth live it.
They dont care. I had to recover my scalp from what this liscense barber did to me with dirty clippers
Exactly going to school to get taught something you already know well!!
Tabyas Archie it's not all about cutting hair it's disease prevention and recognized issue with the scalp and hair
Factz!
Love the fact that you embrace critique. I’m actually interested in learning more about being a barber. Not that the title is misleading, I was just expecting to get a better understanding of the limitations an unlicensed barber would have vs a licensed barber instead of the way you look at what makes someone qualified.
I also get that you’re not “trying” to offend anybody lol but it would be (in my opinion) better to go more into why you would say someone is not a “barber” by explaining the legalities instead of just saying what specifically YOU think. Cause yes a certificate, degree, whatever piece of paper says you’re valid ENOUGH to read a book and pass a test! But that’s as far as that part goes. If you give crappy haircuts then... you might have a license but that doesn’t mean you should be cutting hair lol I’d call THAT a person who cuts hair instead of a barber.. I feel like passion+skill is what makes you a barber, not the license.
I agree with what you said about explaining the legalities.
Yes! Let’s see and learn more!
🎯
I disagree because u can take the apprenticeship route n still take the stateboard that way n become a barber w/o the fees of school stay blessed people..
Sorry sir bt i disagree with your definition of being a barber. As you said that you are a cosmetologist, you are technically not a barber. You are using "barbering" as a life style because you obviously killing some sick cuts. But in all respect you shouldn't look down on these folk just cuz of a simple label cuz of no education. Honestly i think that all the information they teach you in school is just a foundation and the rest you put in the skill. Some folks can use UA-cam to build a strong foundation and put in the same skill. The passion for me speaks more than a piece of paper. Mad love bro. Stay true. Stay humble.
Jonathan Arreola I'm not looking down on anyone. I'm simply stating that if you don't not have the proper credentials you cannot call yourself a barber or cosmetologist.. A person that doesn't goto school to become a Dr cannot call himself a Dr just because he read alot of books on the anatomy and medicine. He has to goto school, pay his dues and do his time. The truth is the truth, a spade is a spade.
Jonathan Arreola you can have a passion for it and whatever you can. But at the end of the day.. According to the law you are no a licensed professional. Regardless of what you see on youtube. If what you are saying is the truth than there's no reason to goto and become licensed. People should just be out here cutting whenever and what they want because they know how.. Going to school isn't about learning to cut hair.. Its about. Learning the rights the wrongs and the laws of the trade
Jonathan Arreola for some what I have to agree on the skill level, but let me redefine on the" license " issues. The state require for each individual to be license if they working in the public barber shop so I'm as a owner don't hire Non license barbers cuz I can get fine for that..in California is $1500 each..
I agree with him an I'm a lic. Barber an a lic cosmetologist. Your just a hair cutter without L's
You cant compare doctor to barber. Licensing is just another way to regulate all you really learn is how to keep your business sanitary since it involves working with alot of people just like the restaurant industry.
I agree.....I’m a licensed cosmetologist in Michigan....i still continue my education even though I’m licensed.
Continuing education can be done anywhere. License or not. It’s about the passion!!! Not the government!!!
Trey Cutz I am a licensed barber of 20 years and you are lost brotha. The definition of a barber has nothing to do with being licensed. You do not NEED to have a license to get to the next level. Although it helps tremendously. However every case is not the same and there are extraordinary people you didnt know existed. Ive worked with PLENTY of licensed and unlicensed. First and foremost being an artist and Having a clientele is what makes you a real barber. There are so many licensed barbers who graduate evey year and are total trash. They started cutting hair late in life maybe late 20s and decided its their get rich fast scheme. You look like one of those guys. That doesnt make them a barber. Being a barber is being an artist who SERVICES people. If you have clients then you are a barber to somebody whether you like it or not. If a barber is not licensed he is simply an unlicensed barber. That doesnt make that person any less of a barber especially if he cuts just as many if not more than the average licensed barber. I consider more unlicensed barbers to be real nowadays because most started cutting hair out of passion instead of for money like the people who began in school.
abe reyes it's barbers like you that make hurt the industry..
abe reyes so you telling me there's no point in having a license.. Just be good at cutting hair.. And the people that spent tens of thousands of dollars on school wasted their time and money?
TREY CUTZ You just answered your own question bro, why spend time and money when in the end you still blow at cutting hair? answer me that, most people just do it for the money now a days, Unlike these "hair cutters" you speak of, that have more pasion than these "licensed" barber. Its people like you that make me sick, and give a bad name to this industry, by talking down on others, not unlicensed barbers.
This topic is necessary to be spoken upon and the need as desire to be licensed should change in our industry if we want to be taken more seriously. Should the public expect their doctor’s to be licensed? Hell yes! That’s the same expectation the public should have about their barbers. Barbers were the original surgeons after all.
I'm not a license barber but I've been cutting since I was 12 I've worked in a few shops in Chicago and I can pass the state board test with no problem if given barbering school you learn the technical things about the head but barbering in school period is 70% hands on and there's no school that can teach me how to do me or what I've turned into a lifestyle.... cause what your basically saying is a basketball player isn't a basketball player cause he's not in the NBA....
Michael Brown no what I'm saying is a barber that isn't licensed isn't recognized by the state as a barber. If you can take all the test and all that goto school get ya hours and do that! Yall getting mad at me I want yall to have the same energy and give L&I the same excuses yall give me. If you passionate about ya craft if you real about it you gone do what you have to so no one can tell you what to do with your skills. A basketball player in the NBA is a professional player. Someone playing on the street is just a basketball player.
TREY CUTZ you need to tell them that nonlicense barbers can not or will not allow to wrk at any barber shop ,period cuz the state will come around and cite the shop owner at his own expense. I known few shops that the state had shut them doors cuz of those issues. I don't hire nonlicense barbers and I don't care how good they are. pay ur due guy..these ppl are trying to argue cuz they don't wonna go to school and follow the the state laws...give me a break. go to Asia , license are not require there..lol
Michael Brown good brother if u would’ve went to barber school then u would know that cutting hair is only about 30 percent of the barber game oh and yes the pros are pros for a reason even in basketball
@David Hargrave damn how many cuts a day and at what price?
He makes valid points but the truth is a barber is someone with the skill to cut hair, licensed or not. Anyone who has been cutting hair for some time can recognize fungus and other hair diseases wrether you are licensed or not a good barber will follow safety guidelines as to keeping their clippers and other hair tools sanitized. I know non licensed BARBERS that are better than instructors who went and got license then went back to become a master
Hey bro... unfortunately we live in a society where people tend to put BUT’S. either because of envy, or superiority or whatever reason they might have. And we also live in a society where if you’re not licensed , you pretty much aren’t anything I understand it the law to have a license to practice barbering or other occupation however if we get technical , a barber and look up the definition of BARBER. You would come to find it’s a person who cuts hair, especially men’s, and shaves beards as an occupation. It never mentions anything about having a license to be considered a barber, that’s my humble opinion and I respect all opinions .
The best barbers are unlicensed, facts!
A license doesn’t make you good!!! The streets do!!!!
Never said a license makes you good. I said I a license makes you a professional..
@@TREYCUTZ plenty of non licensed barbers cleaner fades than licensed barbers more professional than them like ged making more than college grad shit happens
so, the guy is basically saying, that barbers have only been around as long as stateboard has been around. so, (according to trey) the barbers the bible speaks of, actually weren't barbers, the barber buried in tomb45 wasn't a barber, the barbers that also used to be doctors weren't barbers, along with with the barbers from ancient greece, actually weren't barbers? very smart conclusion you came up with trey.
klips the barber we not living in those times. Hush..
we may not be living in those times, but we still hold and continue many traditions from the barbers from back in the days (the barber pole from when barbers where doctors is one example). I'm one of those barbers that would personally hold a "why not" attitude to someone that claims he/she is a barber but doesn't have a license, i just don't wanna have a trend on licensed barbers to look down on other very talented barbers who aren't able to obtain a license, due to either current lack of finance, lack of time to spare, etc. i hear in some states they won't even let you attend barber school if you've been caught working in a barbershop without a license, if that person has the same respect, love, and goal to be the most talented he can be in barbering, i wouldn't consider him any less of a barber then chris bossio.
klips the barber i guess that's the same argument someone would have with L&I when they came and ask to see you're credentials. I get what yall saying. Yall make valid points but my opinion is my opinion.
respect.
Thats what i was thinking but why argue that he is just stuck on that. Rules were made to protect people from certain things but not every barber with a liscense is good i been to a barber shop where everyone knew not to go to certain people because they dont clean clippers. Im sure they didnt learn that in school. But these rules were made by men to control how things work if yoy were in the army you could go to ait and boom you a barber no state test because fed is above state lol thats the funny part it really matters who you work for no barber in the military took the state test
You don’t need a license in my Province to be a Barber. So if I take your definition of a Barber, there’s no Barber where I live.. 🤔
lucfireful well then this doesn't apply to you. Thanks for your comment
what province do you live in?
If your a license barber, and some how your client breaks out very bad, lets just say wing worms or something like that, and that client feels that your the cause of why they maybe breaking out, even tho it may not be true. They will still take you to court off their beliefs that you caused them harm. Bottom line is this. If they win their law suit. You having your license will not Save You.
lol.. at 2:35 he like: nah, this aint gon fit me fam🤣🤦♂️
Ty for this i really appreciated, i been out barbering school for like 2yrs.. i just be cutting hair..im gonna put all my effort into getting my license. New sub
Agree 100%.. plus they can't work in the Barber shop because we as the owners will get fine...hello!! so just stay in ur garage for now until ur license C y'all.
Just. Ur hair who cares if your licensed or not. It’s about the art. Not the paper. If your good your good. Doesn’t matter to me. Come work and make money. Don’t let the government control you!!!
April 2020 - These unlicensed backyard barbers are FLEXING right now during quarantine! Love the message of this video. Rather than bashing, he’s encouraging those unlicensed barbers to legitimize their craft. Great message! But even in these trying times, I will go full caveman until the malls open so I can schedule a much needed appointment with my barber of 10+ years over these backyard barbers! Legitimize!
Awesome videos man, you're a great addition to society !!! Very respectable family man, gentleman. You truly inspire me. keep up the good work. These videos are filled with excellent information and are a pleasure to watch.
Leonardo Guzman wow I truly appreciate that
I just don’t feel like wasting my time to learn stuff I already know
Zane West if you consider going to school for a craft you love wasting your time then maybe ya heart really not in it
I went to school with guys who cut for 20 years unlicensed. . and their shop is also unlicensed. That's actually the best way to do it because if your shop isnt licensed with the state they won't come by and do license inspections ( because they dont know you exist)... this will work in a big city but probably not in a smaller town.
Cody the Barber i would never work at an unlicensed shop
Sorry bro gotta disagree, license or no license as long as I get a good trim I don’t really give a shit😊
Just found your channel, I subbed cause you speak truth. You have dope content I want to see this channel blow up cause you defiantly have something here
Mikester Infinity appreciate that sub man.. I have some new videos coming with the next two weeks.
TREY CUTZ I’m tuned in.
I've been told I got more dedication then some licensesed BArber, i think the fact that one has to pay over 10 k for a licenses is absurd but hey some even pay for a fishing licenses
You pay for the education. Which qualifies you to get your license. The license is a actually a small fee determined by your state
What's up! You helped me decide to go ahead and go get my license for barbering. And man my daughter name is Layla too LOL but yeah man.. thank you for this video, I needed it.
Thanks! Go ahead and grab it man
Yes, your correct, the barbershop industry would fall if everyone could call themselves a barber and not have a license. Because they could cut hair from there homes and take customers away from licensed businesses. One pays nothing and can do as they please and the licensed barber has to comply with regulations and pay for training and fees. Skills alone don't make you a professional barber, proper training, skills and legal requirements do.
Keith West my man!
Keith West seems to me that you got got! Lol
You mad because you are made to apply by their Laws! Don’t hate on the boy who do what you do if not better know hair know diseases know everything you know without paperwork.
Also before exams it was called “APPRENTICE” that’s how my pops got grandfather in beloved No School None of that crap they tell y’all to get more bread outta y’all pockets!
So No THATS YA’LL OPINION NOT FACT
They cut from there homes anyway.. They sell dope do hair and baby sit out the same house and the feds dont trip
5:54 Daddy’s Little Girl comes first, I like that. God Bless Man
I have seem licences barber doing worst haircut bro, I believe it is about experience, even if you go to school, educate etc. It's all about game bro to make people look lit =)
I respect licensed barbers. If you want to do something, do it legit. I stopped going to the barber when I lost most of my hair, but that's another story. I remember when the chain haircutters started and the barbers at my shop did not like it that they offered barber-type services but had no licenses. The line between barber and haircutter (at least the major one in my state) was that only barbers could use razors. I'd get razor cuts and also my neck shaved, but the few times I went to hair cutters, they would only use electric trimmers.
Good video. Stick to your principles. I feel the same way about engineers. I went to an accredited engineering school and for awhile was a licensed engineer in training. I never cared for companies calling people 'engineers" who never set foot in a single engineering class.
I'm a barber and I cant understand when people say they are barbers when they can not use a straight edge razor open. Cosmos must use safety blades.
Great video i feel like this needed to be spoke on...putting thousands of dollars and weeks of studying to get the Liscense is hardwork and dedication..thats personally how i feel. Took me 5 times to pass and a lotta frustration so when i hear someone unliscensed call themselves barbers without no effort toward being legit cause they good or done it for a minute makes me feel some type of way
Anthony Ward Yea man we actually had a discussion about this in the shop this morning.. How L&I doesn't enforce the laws they have in place. These days there's really no incentive to having your license. A guy cutting at the shop that didn't go to hair school like I did or put the time in like I did can make just as much or if not more than me. I feel like shop owner should provide some incentive for licensed barbers. It should be just like having a degree. If i dont have a degree I shouldn't be making the same amount of money someone with a degree does.
TREY CUTZ no doubt, that really is the problem. People can have instagram careers and youtube careers without having any kind of proper education..and its one thing if theyre going to school. i think it just makes it tough on the people who put the time in when, like u said, nowadays theres no incentive to become legit..plus it also in a ways devalues our craft when just anybody can do it. For example, why u think contractors make such good money? Cause u need to be liscensed and bonded to make the real bread and the board stays on top of giving citations so u HAVE to be legit
Anthony Ward great point.. Man I would love to see our industry cleaned up.
Yeah man it will in time hopefully..its just a fad right now..good talk tho give me a follow on instagram @illchoppo ill give u a follow back
Anthony Ward I'll go follow you now.
Show some of your cuts. Before & after
chambersraekwon12 I gotchu. But if you wanna check out some of my work you can goto my ig page.
@treycutz
I am not a licensed barber yet! But I am on the right track. I agree with you about the barber hair cuter topic. You can't say I know how to draw blood so I'm a phlebotomist. It takes time, work and knowledge to become a master of your trade.
it does man and alot individuals in this trade wont understand that!
Junebug Fresh where u cut at boss, im the owner of Blade Runnerz Barber Shop... plz google us.. im def lookin for barbers..... or text me 267 991 4186
U got alot to learn brother
Janeth Tarin I do indeed
I just need to pass my written exam. I passed my practical test . I had my test March 31st but got cancelled because of covid 19 any advice hints so I can pass it when I get my test rescheduled ?
Every state is different. But make sure you know about the chemical services and study study study. Take practice test there's apps and plenty online all you have to do is google the "practice barber exam"
TREY CUTZ Thank you 🙏 and I will be studying while all this is going on thank you again hopefully I’ll get it soon as this is over🙏
Bro u are really funny lol “hair cutter” lmao
I like him but i think if you a barber you should convince unlicensed barbers to get there liscence. Not call names honestly because most people a dont give a shit or b will take it the wrong way and flip shit. I have had my hair cut by an unlicensed barber most of my life because anyone can get a liscence. But you gotta try and urge people to get the l without name calling
I love everything you say and agree it not just knowing how to cut is knowing the safety hearth I am also and licensed cosmetologist and barber our profession we all have to take it seriously!
Jasmin Jimenez if we don't no one else will
i went to school in my country got my nacional test over ther but them i move over here, and i’m just starting with the plan to work at a barbershop, what does that means that i’m a barber in my country but here i’m not? or that i have to go to school again for it? ..... don’t grt me wrong i got your point but i’m just curious about it?
Nice video its cool to hear from others perspective about the barber game 👌🏽😎🔥
thank you!!!!! i always get into arguments with hair cutters. The way i see it..i put my time in to be instructed and practiced untill it was good for my state board. In fact i went to barber school in nyc and transfered to PA when i moved out here. level up!
Facts! They don't get it until you put your time in
How do you go about taxes without a license?
Idk.. I use 1099
Sanitation and the details matter thats why school if its done right matters, but some people are just more detail oriented then others which can make someone a master barber by default without a licence
Enjoyed this video. I was dying when you was reading the definition and said, "I don't know that word."
Tim Rahshad Lmao I didn't 😂😂😂😂
Mobile barbers in NYC never have a damn license and they cold as hell.
I agree with this actually I've been cutting in a shop for a few years but I don't call myself a barber I say I cut hair. If it was something I wanted to do as a career, I would definitely go through the apprenticeship to seal the deal . (Toront)
You are a barber 💈!!!!
Ill be honest… ive been a “hair cutter” for 25 years.. we all know that barber school do t teach you how to do a legit fade, or a tight razor line up..
Ive seen many “licensed barbers” that cant fade at all..
On the real.. we all know the best barbers are the “garage or basement hair cutters” .. thats truth.. now when the “garage or basement hair cutters” get the time to go to the barber school thats the recipe for a bad ass barber shop to be open..
Problem is… guys like me work full time and most of the schools at least where I’m at in FL only do the 1200 hour full beautician license course when in FL its only required to have the 600 hour course for a barber license. Im not trying to dye hair or do women’s hair so i dont need the 1200 hours or PAY for 600 hours
Extra to learn a svc i am not going to offer from
My hands. Ill hire a beautician for that..
Then how in the hell can you work to pay for the class when all of them here only do day classes, no weekends ?? Its a struggle for that piece of paper.. impossible to go to school.
You're not a barber, you're not white people approved.😂Lame.
Im to old and cheap to attend a barber school and in 43, i learned how to cut hair in the varrio. Im gonna find a licensed master barber and do the apprenticeship route then take the licensed exam. Schools for barber are to expensive anyway.
I like your videos. Thank you for keeping them real. I am licensed in both and also teach both Cosmetology and Barbering. SO THANK YOU for educating and sharing the difference.
Stephanie Lewandowski thank you I appreciate you watching
About barber school did you have to go all day to school because I'm in texas i think that's crazy how do you work
Yea its full time 5days a week 9-5
I'm licensed barber in 2 states. ..( not a cosmo but a barber). I didnt learn anything at school. The test is just a moneygrab from the govt. BUT..... the reason we can charge what we do.is because of licensing. If noone had to be licenced cuts would be 5$
Cody the Barber in what two states?
Ive seen young barbers with no license cut better then ppl with the license. can't agree with this chief.
You don't have to agree that's not my point of the video.
So you cut at a barber shop with a cosmetologists license?
Cosmetology is above barbering on the totem pole. A licensed barber is someone who was too lazy to get their cosmetology license. 900 hrs for barber school or 1200 hrs for cosmetology in my state. Why wouldnt someone do the extra 300 hrs is beyond me, many more windows of opportunity with a cosmetology license.
Im only subscribing cuz Laila made my day lol. You are truly blessed!
BRUCELEEWATAAHH Lmao appreciate it
TREY CUTZ don’t forget to remind us to click the bell. It keeps us up to date the moment you drop a video I’ll see it and support fam. Stay shining King.
Some of the worst barbers have license!!!
I’ve cut hair for 25 yrs without a license. And I have hella clients.
video ends at 7:45
I’ve cut hair for 30 yrs without a license.
I feel like the people who say “you’re a haircutter and not a barber” are haters because you had to go to school to know how to cut hair, spend hours and some unlicensed barbers are even better and you’re a prime example of a licensed barber who can’t cut better then unlicensed barbers, no disrespect but I’m jus being honest. As for me I’ve learned more in a shop about cutting to sanitation to techniques etc more than some licensed barbers. It doesn’t matter if you learned from school or a mentor, as long as you have that knowledge and know how to do your job then that’s enough. So therefore I as a non licensed barber as well as an apprentice ARE BARBERS
First off my man I was cutting hair for 7 years before I went to school.. And if you anything about going to barbers school or hair school they don't necessarily teach you "how to cut hair" they teach you how to be a professional by practicing good sanitation and proper ways to execute certain techniques. You're speaking on a subject that you clearly don't have any experience in. As I said in the video, if you take your craft seriously why wouldn't you want to properly educate yourself and invest in yourself and skills? To me people that just cut hair I.E "hair cutters" are lazy.
TREY CUTZ So basically unlicensed barbers and apprentice are lazy? Why would I spend thousand of dollars learning things I already know by being in a shop and learning from the same people who went? That’s not lazy that’s smart. You get the real in shop experience and the knowledge you need to be successful and because you didn’t do that don’t hate on us. Word of advice: work smarter not harder
Big smokes with the San Andreas Musi lc😂
Much respect to u homie. Love the video 💯
Anthony Hernandez appreciate it
Good video man! & you and your daughter are goals lol
Unlicensed barbers are better then licensed barbers saying you’re a licensed barber just makes u sound that ur a good barber I’ve seen so many licensed give the shiftiest haircut and I’m more satisfied when my 14 year old friend gives me a haircut he actually gives me a nice fade and puts so much detail in to it I swear some of these licensed barbers can’t even fade all they do is know how to use a scissors
I never said licensed barbers were better.
Silky Fade Approved 💈
Hb 1705 in texas is trying to remove licensing requierments for barbers anyone know about that??
underated
Facts if you don't have the license you're not officially a barber. Yes it's some people that has a license that needs improvement on their craft. It's plenty of people that can cut without a license. But without the license you're only someone that knows how to cut.
Man I love that sound bro ant nothing better lol That's my world
Awweee your daughter in the background ❤️ Love the info man, sharing with my son rn
Thanks for watching
Get that license ♥
They taught more about woman's hair and straight hair texture. I know a lot of barbers who went to barber school withe that can't cut shit
That's true.. But my point is get your license..
Meaning if you get your license it puts you in what circle exactly.
I used to believe all that shit to be true but it's really about talent and preference.i don't even display my license anymore or cut at a shop and I make money than every barber I know and I went to school with. The only people making real money are the shop owners and you don't need license for that
Yeah but then that leads into cosmetology
James Sarvis what do you mean?
James Sarvis look around there are lots of barber schools near ur areas.
what about before licensing was a requirement ? the BARBERS who started it all weren't barbers ? what if your state doesn't require a license ? or if you live somewhere where its not regulated ? barbering is a art form ,a lifestyle . there are countless "barbers" with licenses that don't deserve that tittle because they're terrible and have no respect for the craft .
I’ve made hella money without a license cutting hair. And I don’t plan on getting a license ever!!!!! Fuck how they feel fame!!
If your are not licensed...you are NOT a barber, you just a person that cuts hair. You may be good or great at it, but not official. Can a doctor be called a doctor even if he knows how to operate but has no doctorate? ...NOPE! A licensed barber is LEGALLY authorized to cut hair in a commercial environment.
E.C. Meech Tha Barber say it again for the cutters in the back!
It's funny how people keep saying the same thing I got barber hands. The fact of the matter is if you get caught cutting hair for money without a license big brother is coming after you. It dont make since to risk ya livelihood for a piece of paper. I mean dont nobody go driving a car without a license and if you do you run the risk of getting caught.
David Hargrave as an apprentice you still have to learn trichology and how to protect the public. Then when you have enough hours you can go for your license. Apprenticeships is just another route to go instead of going to school.
Yea, that's right. The industry is flooded with stuggling stylist.
Thats only in barber shops if yoy cutting hair at the crib big bro aint finna do shit
@David Hargrave 843 stand up
Facts to bad there aren't more schools or other avenues to obtain your license. Maybe online test and then shadow a cosmetologist. Something like that. BUT now that you tube has made everyone a barber through instructionals every dam block has a "barber" 🤨
You have to start off somewhere ya Kno..
Cutting hair at home or in the garage and hopefully it leads to school to further your knowledge in cutting hair and sanitizing and cleanliness..Yea some people with there license can cut and some can't..And some people without there license can cut and some can't.. I guess it's who you prefer to cut your hair..You can easily learn sanitation and cleanliness from UA-cam videos..But I guess it's more of an experience being in school learning...ya know
Best of luck to best side..
I agree 100 percent bro
Peace and blessings thanks for sharing, I always wanted to go to barber school, i work in the nursing field, and I work with a lot of men residents that needs haircuts from time to time, I’m learning the craft, but I think going to school you’ll get the nooks and crannies of it
