Credit where credit's due that Abaddon never gave up and held the Black Legion together for 10,000 years compared to the Daemon Primarchs who chose to laze around at their personal Chaos worlds and do nothing.
There is one certainty for Abaddon. "You will die as your weakling father died. Soulless. Honourless. Weeping. Ashamed." -Sigismund, the Emperor’s Champion
Shame that Bruva Alfabusa's TTS show ended prematurely because Takahata101 would have a blast in voicing Abaddon when he and the Black Legion were about to go for a walk. A very enthusiastic walk.
SPOILERS FOR HH/BLACK LEGION BOOKS: I think whether or not Abaddon is a good character depends on who’s writing his lore/novels at the time. Any time he’s onscreen in an ADB book, he’s awesome. Everyone else tries to paint him as this mustache-twirling “classic” bad guy. ADB portrays him (as shown in the Black Legion books) as someone who knows only war and the bonds of brotherhood that are forged in battle, still trying to find a reason to live after losing everything. A lot of that could just be because we’re seeing him through Kayon’s eyes, though. In truth, I don’t think Abaddon wants to win the Long War. He would rather die fighting the Imperium than destroy it. He wants to die for something. He wants to go back to Terra to die there, like he should have with the rest of the Justaerin. Surrounded by the corpses of his battle-brothers among a sea of fallen enemies. I think in Abaddon’s (and the other Astartes of the Ezekarion) eyes, all of the Traitor Legions should’ve died fighting on Terra, instead of running away. Kayon, Lheor, Abaddon and Telemachon all have one thing in common: They survived and fled when everyone else around them died with honor. Telemachon was part of Eidolon’s honor guard who got pissed on by Dorn and Sigismund. Kayon stumbled into an ambush and lost his entire company. Lheor’s plasma cannon exploded in his hands, and he was left in disgrace instead of fighting with his brothers. Abaddon got outplayed in the Saturine Gambit, but had never felt so alive as when he thought he was going out with a bang.
@@jderpz23 The Black Legion books. There’s two of them. Also, the first Night Lords book shows how Abaddon deals with heretic Astartes who don’t bend the knee
Robert Rath did a really good job at writing him in The Fall of Cadia. He simultaneously humanized him quite a bit while still portraying him as a badass and terrifying Chaos Lord
He just doesn't want to be under the thumb of the imperium/wants to control his own fate and destiny. He offers the black legion the same, he is Nietzsche's uber mensch he wants to create his own laws and fate.
I prefer Erebus over Lorgar. I really like how certain mortals are held over their Primarch as better exemplars of their god and used to flagellate them. Kinda like a toxic boss and a "golden child" employee. Though I like the idea of Lorgar's charisma and understanding of chaos is enough to placate all the chaos gods as opposed to every one else raised as undivided having to play off the gods against each other.
Lorgar would only last for a short time though, once the darkness started quoting Edgar Allen Poe and making raven sounds... It'd be game over for him.
Abaddon: “Welcome, Lorgar! We have finally secured the MacGuffin!” Lorgar: “Indeed!” Corax: “Huzzah!” Abaddon: “…DAMN IT! Why did father have to have so many loyalist brothers?!”

I’m going thru the Siege of Terra books, I’m on end and the death pt1. And yeah I agree I really liked Abaddon cuz he feels like just a pure warrior and scoffs at all the demon and warp stuff. He wanted to win because he was a better warrior. Very cool
Abaddon went from small-scale hit-and-run raids to massive invasions into the Imperium domains, striking from his safe-havens into the loop-holes of the Imperium outer-defense, despite inferior forces, increasing the bleeding on all fronts of a totally overextended Imperium in an eternal war of attrition. Abaddon did an incredible feat increasingly bringing together, even temporarily, rival forces for a common goal, reviving the idea of fighting the Imperium for glory and loot, surviving the meatgrinder that is the Eye of Terror geopolitics and finding a way decisively weaken an opponent in the Imperium that is far stronger than him.

I’ve come to appreciate Abaddon more. I only wish his rise post-Heresy was a little more developed and tumultuous. It could’ve been a great character moment for him, disgraced and surrounded by former allies who now hated him and his Legion, forcing him to accept his shortcomings and use cunning to climb back to the top. Having him overcome self-doubt, dishonor, and the limitations of his warrior-centric mindset could’ve made him a more compelling antagonist.
The talon of Horus and black legion novels really sell the despoiler in their goals I think the books make it clear a lot of the brutality and aesthetics are for intimidation and theatrical while he himself is pretty chill among his cabal

Very interesting video. I like your idear of Abaddon forming short ter uneasy alliences with loyalist elements of the Imperium to defeat a common enemy. Chaos space marines trying to show their loyalist counterparts how it's done would be quite a scene to behold. It's been 10 thousand years since the Horus Heresy. Sometimes humanity has to stick together. Just like Eldar have a better shot at saving their species with help from the Drukari so too should the Imperium cooperate with human elements from outside of its influence. From guadsmen to astartes to titans and knights standing side by side with their chaos counterparts , they could be fighting against an enemy ready to level them both.
Maybe they can write him as a buddy or self-serving ally of Vashtor. The interplay of scheming, both having different goals, but having common threats including the Chaos Gods, could actually make him interesting.
Abbadon was the stern straight man to Vashtorr's sleazy schemer, and it worked well. Ab is good when contrasts a more wily companion like Vashtorr or Khayon. Make it a gimmick that Abbadon is always the sanest guy in the room.
It would be really cool for him to become some kind of anti-hero. The Talon of Horus, story where he goes all gold eyes after absorbing the astronomicon avatar and his disillusionment after the ambush at the Saturnine gate point to this
Here's some to consider: What if all of the Primarchs (save Alpharius because he landed on Terra) somehow died before the Imperium discovered them? If any one Loyalist and Traitor Primarch switched sides for the Horus Heresy, who would you choose for the best outcome for either the Loyalists, or the Traitors? What if the Silent King never got rid of his Command Protocols and took (almost) all the Necrons with him out of the galaxy to perhaps find a new and better one and come across the Tyranids? What if the Great Crusade had all the Primarchs and none turned Traitor, but there were no Astartes? What if the Beast Orks succeeded in defeating the Imperium? What if the Raptor Project succeeded/was never sabotaged? How would each Heresy/Crusade-Era Primarch & legion deal with the Tau Empire?
I want to see Hurron beat Abaddon and spare him only to make him his second and for Hurron to become warmaster afterall the red corsairs are awesome and the black legion is a depressing paint scheme

Was Abbadon a "little Horus"? Weren't quite a few luna wolfs known for looking like Horus?
Fathers and sons, brothers killing brothers across the stars while the rest of the Galaxy Burns. Humanity's Greatest Epic Tragedy.
Walmart brand huron blackheart
Other way around
abbadon > huron
Failbaddon the Armless of the Teleported
Day 30: What if Omegon returned to the setting. What would happen?, how would Guilliman and The Lion react?. Would be a pretty cool video idea.
Love the videos as always.
Id recommend the use of magnets on the case you guys made for maximum security
Abaddon is the incarnation of one step forward then two steps back lol
Abbadon already had the talon prior to fighting the horus clone
You should do a video on Kayon the sorcerer
Maybe they can write him as a buddy or self-serving ally of Vashtor. The interplay of scheming, both having different goals, but having common threats including the Chaos Gods, could actually make him interesting.
Abbadon was the stern straight man to Vashtorr's sleazy schemer, and it worked well. Ab is good when contrasts a more wily companion like Vashtorr or Khayon. Make it a gimmick that Abbadon is always the sanest guy in the room.
It would be really cool for him to become some kind of anti-hero. The Talon of Horus, story where he goes all gold eyes after absorbing the astronomicon avatar and his disillusionment after the ambush at the Saturnine gate point to this
Here's some to consider:
What if all of the Primarchs (save Alpharius because he landed on Terra) somehow died before the Imperium discovered them?
Every single problem in Warhammer is basically just erebus
You know, I make my carry case with soft foam insides, so the minis fit in snugly and don't shake when the case moves. Plus it doubles as shock absorbent. That case's slots look... a bit hard.
I think Horus was trying create his own Primarchs and Abbadon is the sole surviving result of this. A near-Primarch chaos champion.
"...hoping that by blowing up Mars it won't accidentally bring back Corvus" 😭😭😭 im dying
Taking a look at what’s going on the setting during our modern day might be kinda cool.
I cant speak much fkr 40k abbadon, but as a loyalist he was awesome.
It's also amazing how he did all of this without arms
Thank you for your contest by the way :D
Because of your case it really annoys me that i don t have tabletop minis :D so i need to start bild up my army soon
Heresy era Abaddon is alright, 40k era hes a complete idiot, saturday morning cartoon villian
Without the 13 Crusades we'd not have super duper trilogies.
Day 9 or something of asking How different do you think the setting would be, and what would be different if slaanesh's birth had been stopped, or they had been killed immediately after being born?
I would love to see a chaos civil war between the black legion and the Red Corsairs for the title of supreme war master.
Already ordered my case 😁 along with the Death Rider Napoleon because it's just too cool
Just a slight correction but he didn't claim the Talon of Horus from Horus, he already had it aboard the Vengeful Spirit beforehand, Khayon had a spaz when he dropped the stasis thingy earlier in the book.
