BMW 437M Wheels - Original vs Replica (Quick Overview)

An overview on how to recognize BMW OEM 437M wheels versus replicas.
OEM BMW wheels are costly and some BMW owners want the look without the heavy price. Vanity over practicality and more importantly safety are of high importance.
Replica wheels are usually cast wheels and not forged. Forged wheels are more durable and lighter in most cases. Replica wheels will easily bend even crack when you go over the slightest potholes especially on aluminum replicas. The finish also wears off over time.
The cheaper and poorly made replicas are not balanced correctly therefore causing issues with suspension and are dangerous at high speeds.
Remember that replicas are also different from aftermarket wheels. There are a few high quality aftermarket manufacturers that produce for the auto maker industry. Being old school, I’ve owned several aftermarket wheels including BBS, Enkei, Fitipaldi and even Dayton’s.
So just know what your buying and know the consequences of not buying original.

Great video. Just bought a Beamer with these wheel. Trying to determine if it’s worth refurbing them. If reps idk if it’s worth it. they didn’t have the emblem below the center caps so might be fake.

Most of the replicas I've seen are also 8.5" front and 9.5" rear....vs (correct me if I'm wrong) 9" front and 10" rear for the OEM?

You are correct on the OEM sizing; front 19x9, rear 19x10 (no half sizes)

Did BMW only make these in 19s? Being offered one with all the right marks but I'm not sure if they made 18s

Hello, this has been asked before… Otto Fuchs who is a manufacturer of the 437m, has a plant in Hungary. BMW wheels in general are made by subcontracts (wheel manufacturers) all around the world.

No problem at all, those are most likely produced by Otto Fuchs who has a plant in Hungary

Hi I brought a full set of used OEM 437m. Checked all the part numbers on the back. All stamped. All wheels made in Germany.
But a quick question - how do I determine which ones go at the front and which rear ?

If your wheels/tires are different sizes then the wider ones go on the rear. If all 4 wheels and tires are the same sizes then it doesn’t matter unless the tread on the tires have uneven wear. If they are put the tires with better tread on the rear.
