Roughly, how many hours work would go into a painting that size? Your "6 Things I Wish I'd known About Diamond Painting" video was suggested by UA-cam to me, and in it was a big cat painting framed. Did you frame it yourself? And if you did, what sort of frames do you buy and where from? And also that easel you use, did you buy it online? I'm sorry to ask so many questions, but I live in the outback of Australia and there are no shops I can go to. I can only buy online or by mail order.
Hi there! This one will probably take me two months of 2 hours daily. Square drill diamond paintings tend to take longer, so maybe even a little longer than that. :) The quirky cat painting I had professionally framed at my local arts and crafts store, so sadly it was quite expensive. I don't frame a lot of these for that reason - just the ones that I really adore. :) I got the easel as a gift, but I would say it resembles this one: www.amazon.com/Urban-Artist-Adjustable-Drawing-Painting/dp/B00IWOQ2O4/ref=sr_1_12?keywords=tabletop+easel+wood+25%22&qid=1573187046&sr=8-12 Ask away! @@tinyworldsofwonder Thank you so much for that information, I really appreciate it! Just ordered my first custom order from EverMoment (during the 11.11 sale) and OMG they are so good with their customer service! They messaged me to request an extended processing time because they got overwhelmed by the huge sale, and I’m like... oh wow they really didn’t have to. I gave them more days than they asked. It’s an art hobby (read : addiction) so I’m in no rush (*glancing at pile of art projects in the dusty corner) *cough. But I guess if someone was aiming for a gift or a certain timeline, then yeah... the heads up is great. I haven’t received mine yet but I am recommending EverMoment for custom orders. They really take care of their customers. Most of all, thanks for sharing about them! It really helped me decide which store to ask for a custom.
Do you get to discuss how many colors you want in the piece? I really want a custom of an Alphonse Mucha piece in a large size, but I would want quite a few colors so that it looks as vibrant as the original picture.
Hi Jessica…I’m having the worst luck trying to order from Ever Moment…do you have to use a computer or should I be able to order off iPad or iPhone? I’ve tried both to no avail. The web pages I come do not mirror yours. Can you help?
Hi Jessica! If I’m getting image from Wiki public domain are those images high res? I’m going through art specs button and then safe it to my iPhone but when I zoom on it it’s blurry... thank you for responding in advance!
Hi, Julia! Not all of them are sadly. Sometimes the original art is small or no one has contributed a high res photo yet. Wikiart does have a high res section on its site that’s nice for finding bigger images.
I’m loving your videos! I’m new to diamond painting and I have already learned so much from you. I have a question about customs. I sent evermoment a picture for a custom and asked for a mock up like you suggested. She quickly sent back the mock up image and I am very happy with the pixelation (or lack of) but the colors are a lot less saturated than on my original image. Are the mock up images what the actual drill colors will look like? I asked in the chat with the store but she just said it would be more shiny.
Hi, Megan! Since they are condensing hundreds of colors into just 45 or so, I have noticed that renderings can sometimes appear duller than the original photo or than the end result. The diamonds do add some of the vibrancy back in my experience, but if you're not happy with the rendering, you may be able to alter your photo's brightness or saturation (I like PixlrX for this) and resubmit it. :) I hope that helps!
Thank you for sharing this! I really want to order a custom, but I have been intimidated. Now I feel better equipped! & yay I'm not the only one who loves confetti! I'm crazy about 310 I LOVE IT! 🤷🏻♀️
Niiiice. That makes your diamond painting life much easier! I do love the way it sparkles. When it's finished it's gorgeous! :)
I believe if you right-click on your chosen image you can find the DPI or PPI of the image. This tells you the pixels per inch (or diamonds per inch, if you will) Ex: 200. Multiply the inches by 2.54 to find out how many CM tall and long you need your canvas to be!
8.5x2.54: 21.59cm or 22
4.5x2.54: 11.43cm or 11
But let's say you have to pick a pre-existing canvas size.
According to an image I found, it seems diamond paintings have a "resolution" of 100 gems per inch. (10x10).
So if the canvas you have to fit is 50x60 you first have to multiply those numbers by 2.54:
127x152.4
Now we have the size in inches, next we need to find out how many pixels long and across the image needs to be to fix the canvas.
You'll do that by multiplying the length in inches by 100:
1270x1524
Ideally you'll want your image to be the same resolution (100dpi). However if it's larger than that it should be okay.
Note: Shrinking an image a little bit will work, but making an image larger to fit a canvas will be tricky as it will pixelate.
