19:53 "And we don't forget to pick up the waterpump and upon warping back in site..." you forget to pick up the gun turrets. Or was it carefully cut out to test if we watched till the end? 🤔
Gun turrets : Alright boys, Michael took the mining platform away, but he'll come back for us, just hold the line! Michael : Nothing of value has been left outside
for a very good reason, the like button just doesn't give this series justice! great job, nice pacing on the edits :) also nice job making a potential "filler" warpzone episode interesting :)
Hey Michael, just wanted to say thanks for introducing me to this awesome mod. Haven’t had the motivation to play Factorio in ages, but having to innovate around the limited space really got my brain working in a way the base game hasn’t in a long time. It was a lot of fun!
If you want another averhaul that will force you to innovate, after finishing warptorio i'd suggest Ultracube. It turns Factorio on its head, challenging you to build a more efficient factory instead of a bigger one.
i love this series, bro. i don't like modded factorio stuff usually--wouldn't bother watching it if anyone else did it, but these have been excellent joy
I appreciate the tip for the mining platforms, because youre version is so optomized i personally plan on doing a lazy bastard run to switch up the gameplay loop, but some of your blue prints are undeniably useful regardless.
You youctally can fit more smelters if you use a trick from end-game smelting - feeding from undeground belts between smelters So you place an output belt in the middle and 2 smelters together on the top and on the bottom. Then run an input undeground belt on the top line and on the bottom line - input part one tile from the first smelte and output 1 tile from the second smelter, so you can place an inserter to feed a smelter (since you have 2 input lines you can also feed a coal into it from a chest, so no more hand-feeding... Well, less hand feeding). Though it should be a red one - there will be 2 smelters and 2 insertes between each section. And then place 2 output inserters on the second from the top and second from the bottom lines to output into a conveer piece, an orthoganal to the otput belt. So it will looks like this: UISSSSIU BISSSSIB BBBBBBB-> BISSSSIB UISSSSIU where U - undegrgroud piece, I - inserter, S - smelter, B - belt
Sorry, I'm wrong, I confused stages. The one I described is for 5 tiles, but you got 7 already. I used another line of the smelters feeding and outputting from/into underground belts on those 2 tiles. That gave me another 12-16 smelters. And if you willing to go ugly you can shove another 8-12 into free space on the middle :)
I know about the possibility of belt weaving but deemed it not worth it yet. The initial cost is too high, the extra off-platform mine building and teardown too costly in time, and at first you're limited to 1 yellow belt anyway until you upgrade. And as that 1 yellow belt per side can get me to where i need to be, in this case it seems keeping it simple was the best option. But yeah, optimizing for most efficient space usage is definitely a fun exercise as well :)

would it not be much much cheaper to turret rush the nests closest to your mines with yellow ammo so that once u go to medium/big biter time you will need far less ammo in total?
Excellent vidéo as usual ! But why don't you use the red cross in chest to let boxes you need to fill it with exact amount of objects ? For example you need to put 800 iron plates in it. You open chest, use red cross to let 8 frees boxes and others in red, and then with shit+clic you fill thoses 8 boxes. In my opinion it would be easier than count each pile. Wait. No. This can't be. I'm caught up?! I MUST KNOW IF WE HAVE BEEN HERE BEFORE! I'm curious if you have any plan to use construction bots at some point though, would it not make things a little easier, OR is the use of them less efficient in the way you're playing this series currently?
Normally they'd be incredibly useful to build and take down temporary mines connected to the warp teleporter each warpzone. In my playthrough, they will be a little less useful due to not being able to use the warp teleporter
@@MichaelHendriks Ok that makes sense! I have plans to give this mod a try and was thinking about the possibility of using them, but since they work like biters with the teleporters, placing by hand early game it is!
@@MichaelHendriks Yeh I was thinking of just using them inside, but not outside. Although, maybe for picking up turrets in a hurry. The less manual labor involved the better when packing up to warp right 😅
I love your videos and the way you present your playthroughs, but there's one thing that's driving me insane when watching, and more importantly listening, to these videos. When ever you make a click when talking, like 't', 'k', and 'p' sounds, your microphone very audibly pops. It's genuinely uncomfortable to hear this popping and if it weren't for how good your videos are otherwise, I would not be able to watch them to completion.
Yeah I'm still really struggling with my settings for the mic. I use too much gain and/or speak too loud when recording the voice scripts I think, but when I tone down gain, the first word often get's cut off, so I lower the noise cutoff filter, but then too many environment sounds get through etc. etc.
@@MichaelHendriksif you don't already have one, a pop filter might be a good investment. I'm not sure what kind of recording setup you have, but from the user's description this is a problem that should solve.
I want to continue to love the videos. But Im just getting bored watching the same thing over and over. I think its how you kinda play around the rules of the run. I want to see a challenge, this isn't one. It doesn't even feel like you are out skilling the challenge, just that it doesn't actually exist. The scariest part is when you start and need to drive away, but that's not really a hard thing to do. These early warps past like #3 should have been 1 video. It should be about 10 min long max and you'd be saying. "After the 3rd warp I did the same thing for X amount of warps." Get me to the good part. Not a fan of these filler episodes. Alot of the busywork like refilling turrets/chests/smelters could've been sped up more or cut completely. Nothing essentially interesting happened in these 20 minutes aside from the platforms expanding.
It's not filler, it's just another part of the journey. Gametime passed per episode will speed up at warpzone 8, after some "time-sensitive" event has passed. Until that point, it's more or less like a speedrun, thus I can't cut out too much. Bonus points for the literal use of "filler episode" though haha!
