Very informative and educational, we American citizens need to know what's out there waiting for us and get real about our cultural and military arrogance with respect to the types of combat equipment other societies are creating to project power and defend their national, merchantile and political interests...
This machine is packed with innovations that are very hard for the Western block to marginalize or blow off as far as striking a serious conventional blow to an adversary...
We of the U.S. would do ourselves a great service
to cut out all of our chest beating and realize there are other "gorillas" out there
who're just as tough, determined and tech-savvy
as we are when it comes to
fielding killer types of advanced military hardware
and get busy on producing our own!!!🚁🔍👀

@@Marco-nr4wy Appreciate your taking a look with both eyes, an experienced and determined pilot using this machine against any perceived threat is going to
      be an absolute nightmare
and no amount of oppositional propaganda either way is going to blunt
      the devastating outcome
that's left in the wake of an Mi-28 attack, it's just that simple, we have our Apache
platforms and other types of combat choppers, yes but they're designed to engage an adversary that's not so well-armed up close.
This Mi-28 is built to take on multiple-component significant hits and still operate in it's mission, complete it then fly home to repair and if worse come to worse, actually EJECT it's crew and avoid their immediate destruction, that's a feature no current U.S. made combat choppers have, this is a major advantage for the Mi-28 so their rescued crews can live to fight another day providing they can avoid enemy capture after they eject...✨🔍👀

I was always saying that people who think Russia doesn’t care about crew safety are looking at Cold War equipment with modern standards.
It is because they are concerned with the protection of the tank and the vehicle that they make tanks as small as possible. Same with the carousel ammorack, comparing that to ammo right behind the front plate or just randomly lying around, concentrating it into a smaller area that is really only detonatable from the side is probably the best you could do before blast doors and blow out panels become a thing. They also had the best helicopter and jet eject mechanisms and that is without contest.

Also to be fair this is the first modern conflict with new Western weapons being used. Some analysts say that attack helicopters are incredibly vulnerable regardless of whom or what is flying. Infantry can conceal themselves asily and just wait for a helicopter to get into 5km and bring it down. It's becoming easier to make sophisticated missiles and harder to counter them.
Hopefully we see some active systems like a trophy, or EW that works most of the time.

Mil company was producing Mi-8 in massive numbers in the 80s so it wouldn’t go bankrupt anyway. I am pretty sure Soviet MoD made an order for Mi-28 just to have a backup option in case Ka-50 project fails as it was toooooo advanced for the time with it’s digital systems and single seater configuration.
And it it turned out to be a wise decision as even 2010 technologies do not allow for a single seater attack helicopter to be effective enough.

@@thomaschadwick1557 More Russian? Can it fly on vodka for fuel? :P Just kidding. Yeah the workload for one pilot in the KA-50 was too high especially with the addition of new ECM and sensor upgrades that required a second set of eyes to manage all of that equipment. Still....the KA-50 looked a lot more aggressive. BTW, I don't think they added any armor upgrades as that would significantly increase the weight. The only additional armor is likely to be mainly what was added to protect the 2nd additional crew-member. That alone would have added substantial weight along with the additional ejection system that the KA-50/52 series are famous for.

I’ve always admired Russia’s push to allow pilots to ditch their military helicopters , whether the rotor detaching system /ejection seat of the Aligator or this system bailing out the side, the bottom line is the crash suspension or box like the Apache is a joke cause such a large number of career ending injuries most commonly to the spine of the crew. The survival and Injury rations of crashing helicopters is very largely lopsided to Russian helos with a survivability rate that’s nearly perfect opposed to the large number of crews lost or severely injured in Apache impacts.

@Armadio the issue is that a gyro that supports the machine's own upright nature and gyros for separate weapons equipped on turrets or limbs would likely conflict with one another. If this big one is pulling this way to maintain balance while this other one is trying to keep a weapon turret on target as the machine is struggling to regain balance and that direction necessary to keep the weapon upright goes against the direction to restore balance to the machine.... Reason I brought it up is someone I spoke with believes everything out there has gyro stabilized weaponry and doesn't see why a bipedal humanoid combat machine wouldn't have gyros for the weapons themselves.

I find it interesting that the exhaust is designed to exit downwards with the addition of air coming in from the front to help cool it. I wonder if that's really enough to keep it safe from anything but gen 1 IR missiles, can air coming from the front be enough to really cool the exhaust? I'd think that pushing the exhaust upwards to be dispersed by the main rotor might work better, but it's certainly better than the old Hinds with exhaust venting to sides and back of the aircraft.

I think you’ve got it wrong, this was the main Russian gunship alongside the mil mi-24 Hind until the ka-52 arrived in the late 90s. Ka-50 with its single seat became a scout helicopter, built in small numbers. Only in 97 or 98 Russia started production of ka-52 in serious numbers. I believe only 30 or so ka-50 were ever produced. Today more than 100 are in service of both mil 28 and ka-52s

"That's not a super-power" The 6,500 nukes (more than the US), 1600 of which are deployed would suggest otherwise, pretty sure nukes trump choppers. But in this day and age how viable are attack choppers piloted by humans, wouldn't drones or stand alone missiles be more viable; especially against forces with decent air defense systems. I guess choppers are good for killing goatherders on mountains or killing civilians and children in Iraq though...

The hull the Mi-28 is more armored, and the canopy on the Apache is much larger and more vulnerable than the small windows on the Havoc. The Apache was designed to be resilient to 23mm as that was the most common Soviet AAA size but the Soviets upgraded near the end of the cold war to 30mm, which the Havoc was designed to resist. This doesnt mean they are immune to such rounds.

    • @ah64dbeast37
      @ah64dbeast37 4 роки тому

The reason I say the ah 64 apache is better... is because the gun is is what makes an attack helo in my opinion ... ah 64= 1200rds of 30mm and the mi 28= 250rds of 30mm and the combat range is 240nm on the ah 64 and 110 on the mi 28 but other then that there almost = to each other.... it's deadly for sure

    • @Internetbutthurt
      @Internetbutthurt 4 роки тому

@@ah64dbeast37 the gun really means little. If an attack helicopter is getting to within gun range its doing something wrong. In a war against a peer opponent you are crazy to get within 2-3kms. Its fine when you are flying over 3rd world countries who can barely fight back but all that ammo counts for nothing really. The Havoc's gun is actually better. Both have about the same range though the Havocs combat range is less - it carries much more firepower and armor which makes it heavier

When bringing up Apache casualties to small arms, remember that tanks don't get deployed against infantry on their own because they can be taken out by RPG's or other methods. Ya know honestly, this is a very very capable monster /attack helicopter heavily armored insanely potent , fast, reliable, pilot emergency egressing , amazing tech and sensors and one of my favorite aspects, the left side access to the engine /systems area was adjusted in design where there is a good amount of room and ample power, they realized they could comfortable fot 5-7 full kit soldiers in the mechanical area and also the large Hollow tail actually is used to allow two soldiers laying down . It’s so smart they made it a transport area, or was already there, the access also, it’s fully armored already to protect all the critical systems and required NO changing of structure to accommodate the men, 5-7 is sufficient for a Special Forces team , a reconosamce team, the most capable rescue helicopter for troops left behind or rescue operations being used often as an assault ship but also a medevac helicopter that’s actually armored and deadly , intimidating helicopter when’re dripping or picking up soldiers the helmet controlled turret cannon and other systems can put the enemy’s heads down while picking up or dropping. The Blackhawk is a bullet magnet with no armor and has more injuries from small arms fire , the help can carry the same amount of troops into combat and do it safely and intimidating, the enemy also doesn’t know reinforcements are aboard, they see this comming and run . They added a fast rope system for dropping teams where the door opens the rope is pushed out and already attached to a heavy pin , when the last soldier makes it to the ground the pilot or gunner pulls a lever that releases the pin dropping the rope and closes the door. The crew seats are like modern IED APC suspension seats protecting hard landings as well as suspension for the wheels allowing the helo to put down fast of needs be and then the ditch system for the crew on the emergent, several times the armor of an Apache for the crew , essentially a Am A10 armored tub but with ballistic glass too. And lastly it’s a FEACTION. Of the cost of an Apache , it’s cheaper by far than even the Cobra . I truly wish we’d just buy a crap load of these. We could apply our sensors if wanted and aside from that seems to be better in every way and a hell of a lot cheaper.
    Lastly,

The best helicopter of BF2. It was heavier and a little slower than the cobra but made up for all that in absolute firepower and stability.
Score wise, it ran circles around the US counterpart and with a ace pilot (me) and ace gunner (my friend) it would beat anything in the game, including fighter jets.

I'm glad to see people give credit to BF2. The Refractor engine made vehicle combat a thousand times more fun than Frostbite and achieved full potential with BF2 mods that experimented with asymmetric warfare and more depth.
I remember the helos a bit differently, though. The Cobra was faster, had a smaller hitbox and was more fun to roll and throw around tight passages. The Havoc was slow, had a bigger hitbox, but better turn right. The biggest difference was that while the Cobra's 20mm gun was good, you had to hit infantry with it almost directly whereas the Havoc's 30 mm gun had large area of effect. Each round almost had the explosive power of a grenade.
Because DICE refused to move forward with the series and instead dragged it down to compete with CoD, I switched to Arma and never looked back.
